Mixed feelings here.

It started fantastic. Great plot. Great first hero. Then it went downhill around page 70.

Guy is smart enough to be hired by CIA but his major sin is to become a prisoner and tortured for 6 years while his fiancé thought he was in secret services and let him go without telling him she was pregnant. Then she married his brother in order to get health benefice and a year later both fall in love. She was told he was dead. So war hero who may have (not said by author) ptsd, emotional issues, physical issues... decided to not burden his brother and the love of his life and kept silence his “resurrection” for 2 years is portrayed as a selfish bastard with a mean purpose to destroy their marriage...

Whaaaaaaaat?

He is saved, and after 6 years is told that she married his brother, he has a son, but she had 2 other kids with his brother. He decides that his return would mess up their happy life and decide to remain away. When danger jeopardize her life and his kid 2 years after his return, he has no choice to tell them he is alive.

But as soon as he show up to protect her and his kid, everyone is blaming him. His is an “ass” for coming back. The author portrayed him as selfish. All his ex friends turned on him because they thought he was there to distort a marriage. No compassion. No sorry for him.

The guy is a victim and is treated as a villain. Wth?

At one point the heroine said that if she had known he worked for the CIA, she would have stopped him? Whaaaaaaaaat? This is so wrong!! When a woman wants to do a job she likes and a man wants to stop her, how do we call him??? Now reverse the machine, how do you call a woman who wants to stop the guy? . .... yeah that’s right! A bitch!

The author made me mad. I didn’t like the way she portrayed her characters. At. All.

It ended a menage a trois but it felt like the real hero was a beggar. I could understand the unfortunate circonstances but the author blamed the real hero and excused those who in a way betrayed him.

Sadly, I started to skip pages to see if it got better but I lost all my enthusiasm reading this story.

I give a 3 stars because I was into the plot and story but couldn’t like the heroine and the brother nor the friends. I felt those were selfish brats and I don’t like reading those.

Nope. I praise the author for making me feel something while reading her words... but I made too many faces to truly enjoy the story.

Will try another menage from this author and see if it is a pattern or not.

Where to start? First, Samantha Cole has given her readers another wonderfully written story. This one is the second book in her Hazard Falls. In reading the book, I debated on which brother I liked the best but couldn't decide so I'll just say how much I fell for the Hadley brothers. Grant and Blair had planned a life together but six years ago he went missing and was presumed dead. His brother, Drake, stepped in and helped fill the void left in her life but while they fell in love, she still missed Grant. This book had me from the first page, I mean, if you're a fan of Ms. Cole's books, the name T. Carter is always a welcome sight to see. I loved seeing how Carter fit into this and while we don't get every single detail of what happened with Grant during those six years, it's enough to break your heart. When danger comes calling to Blair and to Grant's son he never knew about, it's up to him to protect them, even if it means walking away after the danger is resolved. Without giving much away, this will be a menage and it's going to take a LOT of work on everyone's part to make it all work. There were heartbreaking moments, funny moments, moments of anger and we get to see a character from the previous book get her you know what handed to her.......again!! I loved this book so much, I've already read it twice and will be reading it again, slower this time so I can savor every word! Ms. Cole is a very gifted writer and this book proves that without a doubt. Easy to follow and a fairly quick read, you will love going back to Hazard Falls and seeing the guys and gals from the first book.

In typical Samantha A. Cole fashion not only does this book deserve more than 5 stars but it had the perfect combination of angst, intrigue, emotions and hot, hot, hot sex. When Grant Hadley returns from the dead to find that his lover had not only had his child but also wed his brother, he seems to think staying away is his only option. That is until someone threatens Blair and the family she has with Drake. But once he comes back Blair is stuck between the man she always loved and the man she had grown to love. Can she make the choice as to which one will be hers? Or will there be yet another menage relationship in Hazard Falls? Once you start this book you will not be able to put it down. With a fabulous storyline and characters that you cannot help but fall in love with this was an awesome read. Once again Samantha A. Cole does not disappoint!!

First of all I have to say that just like the rest of Samantha A. Cole's books this is HOT HOT HOT!

Small town meets big world problems. Grant Hadley left Hazard Falls with big goals and no intention to return, that is until something happens that could possibly could turn his unseen world to shreds. Blair and Drake Hadley, Grant's brother, lives are about to be rattled as well.

As the story unfolds the past collides with the present and everyone's future changes dramatically for everyone involved. Several edge-of-your seat moments make this page turner extremely difficult to put down, which is something we've come to love and enjoy about Ms. Cole's books.

I guess because I’ve only read the two books in this series, I was overwhelmed by the characters from the other series. I liked the first book much more.

Oh, what an amazing read. This is a well written book with characters we know and love along with new ones that will capture your heart. Don’t Shoot the Messenger is truly an appropriate name for this storyline, especially when there are several messengers, at various times, that the characters just might want to shoot when they learn unbelievable news.

Blair finds out she’s pregnant and losses the love of her life all in one fail swoop. Not knowing how she is going to survive without Grant let alone care for a baby, she returns to her hometown of Hazard Falls. It’s here that Drake, Grant’s brother, steps up and offers her a marriage of convenience so that she’ll have help and insurance for herself and the baby. Over time they fall in love and Blair has two more children with Drake. Little do they know Grant is actually alive, living in hellacious conditions as a prisoner of war. But when he is rescued several years later, he is devastated when he learns Blair has married his brother and that he has a son he never knew of. Not wanting to disrupt their lives, Grant does what he believes is the right thing and lets the world believe he’s still dead. But when someone threatens Blair and his son, Grant has no choice but to return to Hazard Fall to warn and protect them.

What happens when Grant returns. His love for Blair hasn’t diminished, nor has Blair’s love for Grant and of course for Drake lessened. To say the situation is strained is an understatement. Can these three figure out a way to co-exist while keeping everyone out of danger?

What a phenomenal, tear jerking, heartwarming yet suspenseful read. I can’t recommend it enough. This reader is looking forward to feature stories from the amazing little town of Hazard Falls.

Great 2nd Installment in the Hazard Falls series.

Ms Cole brings us ince again to the small town of Hazard Falls, KS. This time with a returning CIA operative who was in captivity for 6 years. During which time his fiance thought he was dead and she moved on - with his brother.

It is not as bad as it seems. Drake took care of Blair after Grant's "death" and they eventually fell in love.

Of course Grant is devastated by this news and chooses to stay away. Unfortunately someone doesn't want him to stay away from his family. There is not a great deal of suspense or "action" - it is mostly as the premise to get Grant to go back to Blair & Drake.

Once there of course the love between Grant and Blair bubbles to the surface. Sharing is the only way no one loses, but it is not an easy road.

How they get there is sweet and steamy. My only real critique is that the agreement to "share" was a little to easy for me. There was no history of either of them sharing with each other or anyone. But that is just my take. It doesn't detract at all from the overall story and as always very well written.

Can't wait to see who is next - Lane & Lou? Or maybe Manny or Vic come back?? Who knows but I can't wait!!

This is a welcome return to Hazard Falls, as well as some of the Trident Security and Deimos characters. Grant comes back to the States after years as a prisoner in hellish conditions – only to find out that the love of his life and his brother are married, his brother is raising his son, and he chooses to stay away from them, letting them believe that he is dead. It’s only when they are threatened that he is forced to confront the reality of their lives. As always, the suspense is gripping – it’s not “a bang and it’s over” experience – Grant, Blair, and Drake are never sure if or where the threat will come – and, when it does, it’s unexpected and well written. There are cameos from other Samantha Cole characters (including Carter!), and, for Hazard Falls afficionados, Bridget makes another (unwelcome) appearance. This is one to reread and savor.

You want a fluffy read? Then don't read this. You don't want to get drawn into the lives of Blair, Drake, and Grant. You don't want to watch Grant learn to live again. You don't want to read the words of wisdom given out by previously read characters from Samantha's worlds. You don't want to start reading at 8 p.m. and get lost in Hazard Falls and realize it is now 6 a.m. Yup, this is not a fluffy read. This is another effin awesome addition to Samantha Cole's world that you immerse yourself in and expect to drive down the road and occupy a stool at the local bar where Tucker might join you or you witness the most epic verbal beatdown. Yeah, don't read this if you want fluff.

I love everything I have read by Samantha Cole. This book was given to me as an ARC which I am thrilled about being trusted with.

For me, this book brought some flashbacks from long ago. Back when the Vietnam war was over and the veterans came back to negativity, there were many MIAs and POWs left behind. I remember over those years that followed that this story was real life. Soldiers held in prison camps finally coming home, broken in mind and body, to find that the world had changed and left them behind. The mental and emotional angst was comparable to what they suffered in captivity. So imagine coming home to find all of your hopes and dreams and the life you craved gone and nothing left to pick you up again. Imagine the emptiness of your soul, your life, your heart.

Now, comes the point in your life you are forced to be a fully active participant with the family you left behind. The shock, the riot of emotions on both sides, then add in children, a bad guy, threats and friends and you have one hell of a story. A great read and another winner from one of my favorite authors.

While I have read and enjoyed ménage books before for some reason this one gave me pause. I honestly didn’t think I would like it; all the others were about men who routinely shared their women and not about brothers that had never ventured into this.

While the reasons behind her marrying his brother were both logical and smart I couldn’t get past thinking it would lead to drama or heartache for one of these characters. Leave it to Samantha Cole to change my mind pretty darn fast.

Amazing storyline that flowed well and characters with a beautiful story to tell.

I need to start by saying that nobody writes a menage like Samantha. I know as soon as I dive in that I will get a great love story and not just hot sex, this book was no different. I have to be honest though and say I hated Drake for about 50% of the book. My heart broke for Grant, but as usual, in the end, Samantha gave us what we all want. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to more from Hazard Falls.

Another book in the Hazard Falls series and this did not disappoint. Action, drama, angst and some smoldering sex that will leave you wanting more. This book is MFM and in my opinion one of the better novels in this sub-genre. With humor, a smattering of well known and loved characters making cameo appearances and three characters you will slowly fall in love with this is a book I am happy to recommend

What a story!! I devoured this one. I started reading it and absolutely couldn’t put it down! There was action packed sexy AF’s. There was a ménage and brothers! And most of all there was T. Carter. If you like Samantha A. Cole books this is a must read. If you’ve never read any of her books, this can be read as a standalone. Much more special if you know something about some of the characters. And the best part of this book is it’s HEA. A very great read!

The much anticipated return to Hazard Falls did not disappoint! While I had to shove my heart back into place during one point, because you know Samantha A. Cole likes do to that to us, I probably smiled like a loon through so much of this story. Grant, Drake and Blair's story was a perfect addition to the Hazard Falls series and I can't wait for more!

I've never met A Samantha A Cole character I didn't like nor read one of her suspenseful romances that didn't keep me hanging on every word. There are lots of twists and turns, edge of your seat moments and enough steamy scenes to make you want to fan yourself. Grant Hadley is truly a man returning from the dead. His tortured existence was tough to read. Knowing that his beloved fiancée and his brother had made a life for themselves in his absence was heartwrenching. Being forced to confront it and see it everyday was an emotional trial. Blair and Drake both ran the gamut of emotions as Grant reappears in theie lives. The one thing they know for certain is that when all is said and done they want him to stay, not walk away. A surprising suggestion from friends may be the answer to the trio's dilemma but they all must agree and embrace it for it to work..

I have loved every book by this author, and this one is the same. While my heart broke for Grant in the beginning, I understood why Blair and Drake were together. When a threat is made, Grant is forced to face his brother and former fiance. Can they manage to get past the anger at their situation and find their way to happiness?

Once again another sexy menage book from this author! I'm usually much more drawn to MMF so when I saw this one would have to be MFM obviously I didn't know what I would think.

The idea is great and I enjoyed the suspense thrown in.
The details of how it would work is, if anything, over established. There's a lot of inner monogues and discussions about all the reasons it can go together. It was clear the author wanted to the readers to understand the characters were thinking of all angles.
I would have liked a little more of the reality of Grant's experiences and emotional fallout, as this part is kind of glossed over with the menage being established and the action in the background. Nightmares are brought up but not really seen again and any other psychological issues he might be suffering are never really mentioned, though there is one mention of counselling he was receiving.
For a light and feel good read with lots of sexy times it definitely fits the bill. I read it in a morning so it certainly kept my attention!

Don’t Shoot The Messenger
Hazard Falls book 2
Samantha Cole
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s been a while since I’ve been the Hazard Falls, but never fear the people there never disappoint. Samantha has once again created a story with all the gun shooting glory we’ve grown to love, the sexy Trident men dropping in and the heat and sexiness she writes.

I have to admit I struggled early in in the story, but thankfully I pushed on, because I really enjoyed it by the end. Losing her husband, Blair was devastated, pregnant and lonely, but when Drake took her in, made her his wife and her unborn baby his, they slowly fell in love…. Now Grant is back and very much not dead. Preferring to stay away from his brother and ex wife, then turn their lives upside down he stays “dead”.

But when their lives are in danger, Grant must show up to his wife and brother. Needless to say it’s not happy families, and in a small town like Hazard Falls, your business is everyone’s business. As the shock wears off, and feelings become stronger, Grant knows he still loves Blair, his brother and Blair’s husband, Drake knows he can’t lose her, but can they have an unconventional ménage relationship. Everyone loves each other and if anyone can pull it off, it’s the couples of Hazard Falls…. Grant, Blair and Drake will take you on a hot sexy ride, with plenty of drama.

Interesting story full of emotions of a whole range from love, guilt, grief as well as lust. This is a relationship that started out of grief and protection but developed into a deep love, but Blair still loved her first partner and the father of her first child, never would she have given up if she had known he was still alive. Torn once finding out, she and both men are not sure what is going to happen or if anyone will be forced to do the unacceptable and choose. Suspense follows the course of the book with a threat hanging over them that gives no clue on the who or why, but the main focus is on this threesome and how their relationship can be sorted without any more pain or loss for any of them. I felt it was handled really well and in the best way possible for all concerned, I loved the sparks between them all and the understanding and love that they had for each other and for the children, protection was the most important factor. The characters were easy to love and empathise with, the children adorable. Once again Samantha weaves a plot that is believable and gripping throughout, it has the hot sexual content with light BDSM qualities just enough to have you feeling the heat. As always I was left wanting more, I never want to leave her characters because they feel like family and I just want to keep reading. Amazing and exciting from start to finish.

I should start by saying that I am very empathetic in real life and it often transfers to characters in the books I read: I don't really enjoy angst or confrontation. So I was a little torn with this one.

I LOVE menage! I mean who wouldn't love two mean loving on them, right? But I was concerned that the angst might be too much for me here. And I dreaded the first meeting between Grant, Drake and Blair, like physically dreaded it.

Even knowing that it would be worth it in the end (sort of like getting that annoying and painful splinter out of your finger), I was still hesitant to dig in. But I am glad that I did. So learn from me and read this book. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and thrilled to be able to do so.
