Sitchin was born in Baku, Azerbaijan, and was raised in Palestine. He acquired knowledge of modern and ancient Hebrew, other Semitic and European languages, the Torah, and the history and archeology of the Near East. He was one of the few scholars able to read and interpret ancient Sumerian and Akkadian clay tablets.
Sitchin graduated from the London School of Economics, University of London, majoring in economic history.
A journalist and editor in Israel for many years. His books have been widely translated, converted to braille for the blind, and featured on radio and television.
The balance between Fate and Destiny to the ancients not only effected man but also the gods for both good and ill that made them all look towards the heavens. The Cosmic Code is the sixth book by Zecharia Sitchin in The Earth Chronicles that analyzes ancient megaliths, ancient mysticism, and ancient texts to reveal the secrets of the aforementioned code.
Beginning with an examination a mysterious circular stone structure on the Golan Heights that according to astronomical calculations is ancient, Sitchin reintroduces his research from previous volumes so as to build a framework to discuss this book’s main theme. Always introduced through the use of his previous research, Sitchin covers the “creation” of the zodiac before linking it to the Golan site and its strategic location between the two main highways of the ancient Middle East. The discussion turns to the death of demigods and why it was distressing before Sitchin recounted the Annunaki creation of man and why they did not give man “immortality” in his DNA. Then Sitchin turned his attention to “secret knowledge” which he posited to be secret number codes that were the basis for languages and latter prophecies, especially in relation to the heavens and the ones who came from there. This talk of prophecies brought Sitchin back to chronicling the history of the Middle East after Marduk/Ra rose to supremacy among the Annunaki and how his turbulent “reign” is recorded in the Bible and other ancient texts until finally his city Babylon captured by the Persians. Yet, Sitchin makes clear that during this time the phrase “End of Time” was always mentioned but it was never specified when it would happen.
Beginning with an enigmatic ruin, Sitchin set the stage for this book in his usual academic approach and then woven in his own theories and research from previous books early on. His examination of Fate & Destiny was interesting but even after the introduction of the beginning of languages, secret number codes, and connections to DNA it was hard to understand what the point was. The further information on Marduk’s reign during the “Age of the Ram” was interesting and basically the highlight of the book though the reader had to wait to get to it. While Sitchin avoided going into the evidence that went into his already written about theories—giving new readers the knowledge of which volume to look for them—he still seemed to tread water in some places before fully moving on. Yet in reflecting on this volume, it was hard to not feel that only half of this nearly 300 page book was new material and a fraction of that was gearing towards the next volume of Sitchin’s series. At the end I felt that this book could have been combined split and combined with the previous volume and maybe in the next.
The Cosmic Code never felt like a cohesive book, it read like Sitchin meshed material from two different books to create another. This overwhelming thought made it hard to focus on the evidence that Sitchin presented to prove his new assertions, but his reliance on flawed conclusions from When Time Began still makes it hard to keep an open mind. If you’ve read all of Sitchin’s previous work then go ahead and read this, but be warned this one seems all over the place.
This is my favorite in the series! Sitchin has been writing this series since the 70's and it truly amazes me how after some thirty years that science is catching up with ancient texts. The things we thought were myth, in fact happened. And the people we thought we 'primitive' were actually more advanced than ourselves. The things that we thought were discovered in the last 2 centuries were actually practiced 5000+ years ago. Where did our knowledge go? What happened? How is it that the ancients knew intimately about DNA and mtDNA and we have just discovered mtDNA in the 60's? That is crazy! This is a mind opening series, a must read for everyone!
Zachariah Sitchins books are detailed with actual translations of Ancient Cuniform (clay tablet) writings. He is an Archeologist, and ancient scirpt translator. He delves into ancient texts, and clay tablet writtings, religious scriptures, artifacts, and drawings & visits museums, and sights of actual historical significance mentioned in various world scriptures, to get an up-close, hands on grasp of what happened. His books are filled with historical facts, with awesome translations, actual pictures of the cuniforms themselves, many of which are pictorial in nature (they appear in his books). Each of the books is a veritable treasure-house of knowledge, of scientific breakthroughs into understanding what has happened in ancient civilizations, regarding gods (alien races), and their meaning present in our scriptures today.
THE SIXTH BOOK IN SITCHIN’S ‘EARTH CHRONICLES’ SERIES
Author Zecharia Sitchin wrote in the Foreword to this 1998 book, “The Earth Chronicles series… began with my query regarding a passage in the Bible about the Nefilim. The quest then expanded to mythology, archaeology, linguistics, astronomy, theology… It has led to a series of books in which the ancient texts and dates were matched with the Hebrew Bible, and were then combined with modern scientific discoveries. The result was a new respect for the Bible as a science-based compendium, and a realization that in antiquity… Religion was Science and Science was Religion… since the first publication of [this book], the scientific advances in genetics that have taken place … have been nothing short of revolutionary… But are Science and Religion irreconcilable---or do all scientific advances bring us back … to that ancient Beginning, when the two were sides of the same coin? [This book] reaffirms the soundness of the biblical Creation narrative in Genesis and of its source, the Sumerian ‘Epic of Creation,’ and validates the Sumerian cosmological assertion that the Seed of Life, brought into our solar system by an invader from space called Nibiru, was indeed embedded on Earth during a celestial collision. We, a product of that seed, are thus part of the Cosmic Code. One of the book’s remarkable findings---that the Hebrew alphabet of 22 letters has been designed to emulate the 22-chromosome DNA, and by its 3-letter verb structure mimics the 3-nucleotide amino acids that build proteins---has offered new insights not only in linguistics but also in theology. It gave rise to an increasing realization that the gods who ‘fashioned’ us were… only messengers from space linking us to the cosmos.”
He states inf the first chapter, “Virtually in the middle of nowhere, on a windswept plain (that had been used by the Israeli army for artillery practice) piles of stones arranged in circles turned out---when viewed from the air---to be a Near Eastern ‘Stonehenge.’ The unique structure consists of several concentric stone circles, three of them fully circular and two forming only semicircles or ‘horseshoes’… They are constructed of field stones, ranging in size from small to MEGALITHIC ones that weigh five tons and even more… this is by far one of the largest single stone structures in western Asia, so large in fact that it can be seen from space by Earth-orbiting spacecraft… the place was indeed, as Stonehenge in Britain, built to serve as an astronomical observatory (and primarily to determine the solstices) is reinforced by the existence of such observatories elsewhere…” (Pg. 3-6) Later, he quotes Genesis 31:21, and comments. “Gilad---‘The Everlasting Stone heap’ in Hebrew---[is] the site of the circular observatory in the Golan!” (Pg. 30)
He asks, “regarding the Golan site, the enigma of who built them is only intensified by establishing their age and determining that an advanced knowledge of astronomy underlay their orientations… In 3000 B.C. there was in western Asia only one civilization … sophisticated enough… capable of … carrying out the kind of major structures here considered: the Sumerian civilization… It was a civilization that preceded that of Egypt by some eight hundred years and by a thousand years that of the Indus Valley… Did the Sumerian venture as far as the Golan Heights? Undoubtedly…” (Pg. 15)
He argues, “The twelve-part zodiac and its antiquity stir up two puzzles: Who originated it, and why was the celestial circle divided into TWELVE parts?... This was only part of the impossible knowledge possessed by the Sumerians. How could they have known all that they did? They themselves provided the answer: All that we know was taught to us by the Anunnaki---‘Those Who from Heaven to Earth Came.’ And they, coming from another planet with a vast orbital period and a longevity in which one year encompassed 3,600 of Earthlings’, had no difficulty discerning Precession and devising the twelve-part Zodiac.” (Pg. 41-42) Later, he adds, “Not men, but the gods, devised the zodiac. And the number, no matter what the changes, always had to add up to twelve.” (Pg. 50-51)
He contends, “in the depiction … by a Sumerian artist on a cylinder seal… we are shown the most momentous event in the history of the annals of Mankind: the moment when we, Homo sapiens, emerged on Earth. Using the … process we now call cloning… The reproduction, involving the need for Anunnaki females to serve as birth Goddesses, cloned the Primitive Worker in sets of seven males, seven females… Cloning was a slow process… So to speed it up Enki performed a second feat of genetic engineering… he gave the human race the ability to procreate on its own. The Bible recorded the event in the tale of Adam and Eve… Enlil put his plan before the Council of the Gods. A great calamity, he said, is about to happen… Nibiru will cause a huge tidal wave … let all flesh perish!... but [Enki] found a way to warn his faithful worshipper… and instructed him to build the Ark to save his family and friends… With Enlil’s consent, the Anunnaki began to advance Mankind culturally and technologically, in intervals that lasted 3,600 years…. The culmination of the process was the great Sumerian civilization.” (Pg. 52-54)
He summarizes, “neither the Mesopotamian text nor its condensed biblical version was myth or allegory. They were based… on a most sophisticated cosmogony that, based on advanced science, described the creation of OUR Solar System stage by stage… the appearance of a stray planet from outer space … resulting in a collision … [that] led to the destruction of Tiamat. Half of it broke up into bits … the other half, shunted to a new orbit, because the planet Earth… all the advances in our celestial knowledge corroborate the Sumerian tale…” (Pg. 68)
He asserts, “the gods met in the Assembly of the Gods… to have their order and ranks established… one of the most crucial, longest, bitterest, and literally fateful was the Assembly of the gods where it was determined to approve the use of nuclear weapons to vaporize the spaceport in the Sinai peninsula… The unintended result… was the demise of Sumer and the end of life in its cities.” (Pg. 80-81)
He observes, “We… have now reached the stage where we can insert or replace a certain gene whose role we have uncovered… We have even learned to perform … the transfer of genes between different species, a feat that is achievable because ALL the genetic material on this planet… is made up of the same genetic ABC---the same nucleic acids that formed the ‘seed’ brought int ooru Solar System by Nibiru. Our genes are, in fact our COSMIC CONNECTION.” (Pg. 117-118) He continues, “one wishes that modern scientists would avail themselves of a road map provided by… the Sumerians… Why not then take seriously, as a scientific road map, the other part of the Sumerian creation tales---that of the creation of The Adam?” (Pg.119)
Of proposed ‘Bible Code’ arguments, he asserts, “in order to achieve such alleged 'predictions’ of future events… the searchers had to devise arbitrary and changeable rules for how to read the ‘code words… sometimes read vertically, sometimes horizontally… Nevertheless, the encryption of hidden words or meanings into the biblical text must be accepted as a serious possibility…” (Pg. 155-156) Later, he adds, “Is there already in those ancient texts, and especially the Hebrew Bible, such coded genetic information? If we could only decipher such a code, we could become beings like the ‘Perfect Model’ that Enki… had intended to create.” (Pg. 177)
He asserts, “These were the components of the post-Diluvial spaceport of the Anunnaki in the Sinai peninsula… And when the landing and takeoff place in the Sinai’s central plain was blown up, the spaceport’s auxiliary components remained standing: the Giza pyramids and Sphinx, the Landing Place in the Cedar Mountains, and Mission Control Center.” (Pg. 208)
He contends, “the Jews were asked to adhere to strict standards demanded by an unseen God, one whose mere image was unknown… To be believed, the biblical Prophets resorted to miracles… How believable were such miracles then?... the texts and artifacts discovered by archaeologists … shed light on profound differences between biblical Prophets and those fortunetellers of other nations.” (Pg. 242-244)
He adds in the final chapter, “There was a complete breakdown of justice and religious observances, for the word got out was: ‘Yahweh sees us no more---Yahweh has left the Earth!’” (Pg. 275)
Sitchin’s books appeal to most fans of ‘ancient astronauts’ theories.
Sitchin’s The Cosmic Code, the sixth book in the Revolutionary Earth Chronicle series is another enlightening read from the seven book series. In this book, Sitchin provides a theory regarding the presence of a biological-numerical-alphabetic code that the Anunnaki utilized to encode secret knowledge. This sacred knowledge was instructed to the chosen ones of the Anunnaki such as Enoch to conceive archives of scientific data which would be revealed to mankind at the right times. It also shapes the basis for prophecy-pre-knowledge of the future. Sitchin reveals the turning point in the celestial and terrestrial affairs in the fragile balance between predetermined destiny and free-choice fate.
I recommend reading this book with an open-mind and let go of any tendencies to search for, interpret, favor, and recall information in a way that confirms one’s preexisting beliefs or hypotheses –confirmation bias.
This is by far my favorite of Sitchin’s books. I feel it really brings forward all the mysticism, symbolism, and the deciphering of these hidden messages from ancient texts. It shines light on how various key figures throughout our time played such important roles to our understanding of mankind. Some of the things I learned from this are the difference of fate and destiny, gives insight into the lost tribes of Israel, the zodiac, many various events and the history that unfolded from it. I highly recommend this book if Sitchen’s. It probably would be good to have atleast read The 12th Planet first, just for some context, but overall this is an amazing book for understanding how we got to where we are today.
The sumerian texts are open to a lot of interpretation and Sitchin’s take on a lot of it is the basis of a lot of people’s knowledge about the Annunaki, the additional planet Nibiru, and how the cosmos has shaped our world and humanity as we are suppose to know it. The book tells us how our Earth came to be and how we were created as slaves for mining. There are also alot of parallels from bible verses. You have to wade through a lot of text to find the meat but the bit of information given is a great intro to the secrets of human history and beyond. That said, this was not an easy read.
I am happy I read this series, and happy to be done. It is long and repetitive, with a lot of details that are not very interesting, and there is a lot of obvious misinterpretation of the Sumerian texts. That said, I learned something from almost every book, and was amazed at how many people online are just stealing Sitchin's work. It was nice to read the original source material to discern for myself.
This series is based upon the theory that an additional planet exists in our solar system. The orbit of the planet is off set to the other planets and completes a cycle in 3600 years. The people of this planet came to our Earth thousands of years ago and effected the development of our human race today…
Absolutely love Sitchin! He has uncovered secrets that have been lost to time and hidden by man. Spot on in his theories and presented in a scholarly format. R.I.P. Sitchin, you are correct sir! May we all strive to pick up your torch and carry on the work you have begun to uncover.
I have read the five previous books of the series, this book was a summary with bits and clips of the past books. I found it redundant with what i had already read, and because of this it was my least enjoyed of the series.
Because I read this book very shortly after I finished the previous one in the series which was "When Time Began", this book did not begin well for me. Why? Because of repetition. Several chapters in, Sitchin just kept repeating what I've read in the previous books. It went on for so long that, if I wasn't such an adherent of ancient astronaut theory, I would have dropped the book.
Fortunately as the book progressed there were some new material:
Firstly, the secret of the gods, the knowledge they so long kept from humanity turns out to be science. What is now accessible to all of us, provided we take the time and effort to learn, used to be forbidden knowledge; or at least knowledge allowed only to a very few.
Secondly, the title of the book "The Cosmic Code" refers to a specific kind of knowledge - knowledge of DNA. Unsurprisingly, this part of the book has Sitchin recounting the creation of mankind. There is an interesting detail of why a demigod descended from the Annunaki on the mother's side is considered two-thirds god instead of half a god. It turns out that our mothers, in the DNA level, gives us more than our fathers in the form of an additional DNA component called mDNA or mitochondrial DNA - so we inherit more from our moms.
Now, regarding this third new thing that I picked up from this book, I found myself, for the first time, being a bit skeptical of Sitchin. Here he is pushing the validity of numerology. There are references to the Kabbalistic tradition of the Jews, of how numerology is tied in with the Hebrew language and there are a number of examples of numerology being used both in relation to the Bible and the Annunaki. Every book has Sitchin nerding out on a particular section; in this book it is about Numerology.
There is a big focus on Abraham on this book and his part during the events surrounding the catastrophic atomic blast which ended the Sumerian Empire. It turns out that Father Abraham wasn't this peacful shepherd, he seems to be a formidable general on the side of the Enlilites.
The book ends with insinuations about how the knowledge left by the gods not only contains information about how civilization and man began but also how it all ends. Sitchin doesn't do a full-on discussion of this perhaps because it is related to the last book of the series "The End of Days".
In spite of the new revelations this book does drag the series down for me because there is too much repetition of material from previous books.
