Laurie Blalock was born on 1958 in Texas, USA. She started writing at age eight. She credits her father, Fred Blalock, as the guiding force behind her career. She can't remember a time when she didn't want to write. She even went to nursing school so she could have a schedule flexible enough to allow her to write on the side. She nursed for 20 years, working in a variety of settings from the newborn nursery to the recovery room, to dialysis. But she never lost her desire to write. She sold her first book in 1994 as Laura Anthony, but later discovered she had a flair for comedy and branched out under the pseudonym Lori Wilde. She has achieved a lifelong dream and now pursues writing fiction full-time.
First married with Anthony Moeller, now she is married with Bill Vanzura, her own real-life hero. She continued living in her native Texas, with a red heeler/Australian shepherd dog, Cinnamon, and four ducks, Quacker, Big Guy, Affleck, and Sheepidy. She is an adventuresome, she traveled Europe as a teenager, hiked volcanoes in Hawaii, trod on glaciers in Alaska, shot white-water rapids, water-skied, snow-skied, raced all-terrain vehicles, bodysurfed in the Gulf of Mexico, and photographed grizzly bears in Yellowstone. She's taken flying lessons, rode in a hot-air balloon, completed two marathons, and performed with a professional jazz band.

Texas Rascals Series Book Eight
Brodie Trueblood loves Willow Creek Ranch, the ranch his father won in a card game. Brodie was the one who made it successful, built it up. And now, all he needs is a wife to love him and a family to raise on the land he loves.
Deannie Hollis has planned and plotted her hatred...her revenge...for fifteen years. Her home was stolen from her and she planned on getting it back. Only, the no-good rascal her hatred is aimed at has up and died. So, she comes up with another plan. She will get her home back no matter what.
I loved this story. For me, I needed tissues handy through most of it. Fantastic characters that brought such emotion to the story. And, how hard it can be to give up your hatred after caring it around for so long. I've enjoyed all the Texas Rascal stories.

Revenge is not so sweet
Deannie's father bet the family homestead (lock, stock, and barrel) in a poker game, shortly after her mother died in a riding accident, when she was 7. She studied the art of poker and arrived in her hometown ready to challenge the man who stole the family ranch. Imagine her disappointment when she discovers he has died and left the ranch to his youngest son.
He's a do-gooder, teetotaling, hard working rancher which challenge Deannie. How can she meet Brodie, Marty him, and claim back her family homestead?
It's a story of redemption and forgiveness, all around. A quick read and although part of a series this book can be read as a standalone story.

This was such a heart tugger!
First I must say I love love love a happy ever after, especially with an epilogue that gives just a bit more. This stories has all the feels and left me with a huge ....awwwww! It made me laugh, gasp and even a but angry. Such a great read and read it very quickly!!!! Ya just gotta grab a copy, your favorite drink and curl up for just a few hours to fall in love with this book!!!! ENJOY

Love hurts
Well, for the first time in Rascals, Texas I just did not like the leading lady. Sure she had terrible things happen as a child but she just became a manipulative liar. Until Lori Wilde showed us what can happen when truth, love and trust come into the heart. Lots of interesting characters, a beautiful setting and if you "Judge not, lest ye be judged", as Brodie's mom taught him, you'll end up enjoying this book.

Okay story
I like he storyline and love the Texas Rascals books, but this particular one isn’t my favorite. Brodie seems to be a hard-working, intelligent man. He senses something isn’t right about Deannie and should have followed his intuition, but he doesn’t. When Deannie found herself actually falling in love with Brodie, she should have told him the truth.

I have read all of the other Texas Rascals and this one just didn't click with me. Deannie comes to town after 15 years to find Rafe to win her family ranch back in poker. Rafe has died and Brodie now owns the ranch. She decides to go after Brodie by marrying him to get the ranch. Brodie has reservations about Deannie; but still pursues her.

It is always interesting when I return to Rascal, Texas. This time we meet Brodie and Deenie. Both of them had a less than ideal childhood. For reasons you will learn when you read the book, Deenie is bent on revenge. She thinks her revenge will be sweet. What happens when her conscience tells her otherwise. I loved every minute of this book and was sad for it to end.

Wonderful
This author knows how to grab you and not let you put down the hooking story till you have finished. That's how good it was. Once it starts, it pulls you into it! You get hooked and wanting to know what happens next. So you have to finish it but still want more.

Brodie!!
I love Brodie!! He is such a great guy. He’s had a hard life but really pulled everything together. Deannie had such hate in her heart but loved how they came together.
