I've read quite a few retellings now, but can't seem to resist another, so it was easy for me to pick this one up when I had a chance! I loved reading this, and really enjoyed Quri's character, and really enjoyed this take on Rapunzel's story. Well written, this one easily held my attention from the start, and I excited to read more of this series!

I enjoyed this story and when Quri learned the hair growing spell I immediately thought of Rapunzel and that Sumaq would be able to climb up her hair to visit her!

I enjoyed the story of a poor girl who was “sold” into being a servant and only learning the most rudimentary spells until her heart was captured by Sumaq and was imprisoned by her “mistress” as a result. But her tomb held knowledge she was never taught and she learned it herself and was able to break free of the chains she was encircl

I was kindly given a copy of this book by the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This novella is a YA fantasy retelling of Rapunzel. The story was told well and felt whole even though it was a novella (70 pages). I like the atmosphere of the story and I believe it may even incorporate some South American Lore.

I enjoyed how the character Quri just didn’t sit around and expect someone to just save her. She proved to be a stronger person than she thought she was. One thing that I really l

I have mixed feelings about this story. The cons: I found it unbelievable that a large basket would fit through the crack but a petite woman wouldn't; it was too convenient that the shaman only taught her two new spells, and one of them just happened to be the one that would save her; and the prince put off saving her to go get help (logical), then came back with only the one guard he'd had before. The pros: it was well-written, easy to read, had a non-medieval-Europe setting, had a better excus ...more

This was a good strong story. It was exactly what I expected in that it was a Rapunzel retelling and a short story. I love the Incan inspiration especially! I love seeing history connect with stories in such a way, it’s a big inspiration for me. I would absolutely read book two of the series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

A wonderful read that is a real page turner. As well as had me on the edge of my seat. The Author has written a fantastic read with great world building. And the scenes are written so you can see them so vividly in your minds eye. I definitely recommend this read.
