Happily Ever Hers

Rate this book
Juliet Manchester is America’s best-loved movie starlet. But when a nasty divorce and a sex-tape scandal threaten to tarnish her spotless good-girl reputation, she turns to co-star Ryan McDonnell to help distract the media with a passionate (and completely fake) new romance. The only problem? They’re both in love with other people.

Going home for Gran’s 90th in Maryland was something I normally would’ve been looking forward to. But the timing is terrible. My ex is dragging me through a media scandal (even though he’s the one who cheated. Spectacularly. On the kitchen island. With my personal chef), and if I had my way, I’d stay out of the spotlight entirely.

But America’s Sweetheart has to be okay, and my agent is positive the best way to convince America that I’m not in the midst of a breakdown is to date my latest co-star.

He’s hot. He’s sweet. And he’s willing.

But he’s not the man I’m in love with.

The former Marine bodyguard who’s been stationed inside my house by the private security firm I employ is nothing like a movie star. He’s rough around the edges, from the wrong side of the tracks… and one-hundred percent exactly my type.

But the two of us together? Could cost us both our jobs.

I just need to remember that Jace Morgan is here to protect me. Not to love me.

But when he comes along to Maryland? Lines get crossed, and I’m not talking about the Mason-Dixon, y’all.

Happily Ever Hers is a full-length laugh-out-loud romcom with narcoleptic pugs, cursing Grans who drink too many Manhattans, and a stoic ex-military hero who just might break your heart. (Standalone and no cliffhanger!)

I'm USA Today Bestselling author Delancey Stewart. My contemporary romances run the gamut of settings and setups, but they always deliver humor, heart and heat. It's a guarantee.

I write from my home in Denver, CO, where I manage a household full of boys and men. Okay, only one man. The hubs. But two boys. I mean, three if you count the hubs. (You see why I do words and not numbers. I was told there'd be no math in this bio. Someone lied.)

I grew up in California and have had more jobs than anyone on earth (personal trainer, pharmaceutical rep, copywriter, tech writer, marketing director, wine seller, elementary school teacher... I'm not kidding. The list. It goes on.) But the one I love the most is writing, in part because I get to meet people who love books and stories as much as I do! Goodness y’all! A narcoleptic pug AND a love sick house chicken! I don’t really think you need to know much else to realize it’s going to be a great book!
But there is America’s sweetheart movie star with a marine bodyguard forbidden romance along with a splash of a fake relationship thrown in. And let’s not forget about our favorite gaming addicted grandma, which all makes for a fun read.
It was wonderful to see Juliet’s and Jace’s side of it all. They are sweet and sexy and just perfect for each other.

I really enjoyed book two of this duet. This is the story of Juliet and Jace and you got a hint of their story in Happily Ever His but if you didn’t read book 1, you will not lose anything. This is her story. They were such a great couple. You are going to fall in love with them. Their chemistry was off the charts and once you get started with this book, you won’t want to put it down. If I didn’t need sleep, I wouldn’t have stopped reading it when I did but when I got up the next morning, my Kindle was the first thing I picked up. I had to know how it ended. When you are finished with this book, you will have a huge smile on your face. I highly recommend this book.

This was a incredibly delightful and sweet read, the romance between Juliet and Jace was so cute.
The ways the problems were solved were great and i absolutely adored her Grandma and laughed with her antics. I also found myself totally entranced by Tess and Ryan and wanting to know how they feel in love and read their happy ending too. I'm keeping my fingers crossed so that Jace's younger brother and also Juliet's bodyguard Jake each have a love story told too in the coming books in the series.

The second book in Delancey’s duet does not disappoint! Delancey writes characters feeling the pressure of their lives without buckling from it. Even though I don’t live either of their struggles, I found I related to Juliet and Jace in their humanness. I wanted to hug them both at their low points and dance with them at their high points.

Juliet is a starlet who’s life is falling apart. She’s in the middle of a nasty divorce, her privacy is invaded whenever she leaves the house, and she needs bodyguards to keep her home private. What she needs is a friend, someone who sees who she really is.

Jace is a war Veteran trying to support his Mom and brother on his bodyguard income. When troubles hit his family, can he admit he can’t do it all alone?

These two lone wolves may just find what they need in each other, if little things like fake boyfriends & pride don’t get in the way!

Loved this! If you haven't read Happily Ever His I would highly recommend you grab it first. Juliet was America's most loved star. A cheating ex then leads to her being blackmailed by him leads to more attention on her again. Life is not as rosie of screen as it is on screen for Juliet though she can always lean on Jace who becomes more than just her bodyguard. You see glimpses of Jace's family his mother and brother who he always wishes he could do more for. Elvis the narcolepetic pug maybe has just overtaken Chessy as my favourite animal character! Juliet's grandma is back! Her one on ones with Jace were so good! Along with Tess and Ryan. What a fantastic end to the series.

I read an ARC of this book and also bought it on preorder.

I truly enjoyed reading this book. It has fun and entertaining tidbits like a narcoleptic pug and a house chicken in love. For a forbidden relationship/fake relationship storyline it is well written and believable.

There’s a lot to love about this book though I do wish the characters physical descriptions were a bit more detailed. The book cover is not my favorite because I didn’t feel like it matched the character of Jace correctly though it did match the overall theme/idea of the book.

I will absolutely recommend this book to others looking for a fun book to read.

This duet is a truly enjoyable read!! Great main characters, real world problems, hilarious side characters and pets, and an interestingly different plot. Delancey is now a one-click author for me. Don't even bother writing blurbs anymore, I'm sold already!!!

Another great book by one of my favorite authors. I loved Juliet and Jace's story. It grabbed me from the beginning and I couldn't put it down. It was a delight to read Juliet's story after having read Tess's story.

Oh I loved Juliet and Jace's story so much. We got the hint of it in book 1 but going on the journey with them gah so so good.

It was sweet and funny and had all my favorites like Gran and Chessy returning and the addition of the sleepy and so cute Elvis to the bunch.

Julia has you cheering for her from page one and I just love her. 5 stars or how they say in the movie biz 2 thumbs up lol.

As the second book of the series, it does stand nicely on its own. However, it is quite entertaining to see the whole thing from the perspective of Juliet. I loved getting inside her and Jace's heads to understand their hows and whys. The depth that they have as characters kept me reading. I loved getting to see Gran again-I cannot get enough of her sassy spunk! Even though a good chunk of the story takes place repeating the same events as book one, the author pulled different parts into the light and gave them Jace and Juliet's interpretation and opinions, making them seem almost brand new. I loved the books as a duet, and I thoroughly enjoyed them as individual books too. Now to find another book by the author to read...

I really enjoyed this book.
Following on from Happily Ever His this book was from Juliet’s and Jace’s point of view. Sadly Gran didn’t feature as much, I love Gran.
How Delancey portrayed Jace completely surprised me. Without giving too much away, I didn’t expect the depth of his insecurities. This gave a different feel to this book in comparison to book one of this duet. Completely in a good way.
The more you think about Jack and Chessy the house chicken the more you wonder if there’s a story there 😉. Not pushing or anything Delancey (hint hint).
I’m looking forward to seeing what Delancey comes up with next.

Happily Ever Hers is the sweet and steamy completion to the Movie Stars in Maryland Duet.

I hadn’t anticipated how fun it would be to see the other side of the story that was told in Happily Ever His. There aren’t a lot of “retold” scenes, but getting Juliet & Jace’s perspective on a few scenes out of HIS was interesting and satisfying.

I always love the way Delancey develops her characters throughout her books, and this was no exception. Jace and Juliet come a long way in seeing things from each others’ perspective and adjusting accordingly.

These two have PLENTY of chemistry. And keeping it a secret adds to it. LOVE them together.

If you love slightly broken characters trying to find their way (together), men who take care of what’s theirs, funny pets, silly Gran antics, and rom-coms that are just a little bit deeper than the usual, you will LOVE Happily Ever Hers.

OMGoodness!
I. Love. Jace!!

This story is book 2 in the Movie Stars in Maryland series. The majority of it takes place at the same exact time as book one happened. It was so fun and so sexy and so perfect to see what was going on with Juliet, the movie star.

During her sister Tessa’s book (Book #1), I knew there were some things happening, things I wanted to know, needed to know. And to finally get those details and that story is very, very satisfying. Especially since Jace, the delicious bodyguard, is involved.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Watching Jace & Juliet grow closer, their attraction getting stronger and stronger until finally they both snap. They can’t stay away from each other. I had all the feels as they worked through any obstacles. My heart squeezed and fluttered and body parts zinged and tingled and I couldn’t have been more happy with how things turned out.

P.S. Shoutout to Gran. I love her so hard. She’s the wisest, snarkiest, and sweetest 90-year old woman ever.

When you are so invested in your fictional book boyfriend that even the song you hear reminds you of him. Then I guess the author did something right. I really wanted to make him listen to this new song because then he would understand that he was in the right place with the right person and that was the only thing that matters.

Being poor, proud and used to be the caretaker does nothing for you when you need help. When the one person able to help, is the rich girl you are in love with things gets complicated.

He is the only person that sees her, not the movie star. The fact that sparks fly and she has been crushing on him from the moment they met makes her certain he is the one. But how can you get your happy ending in the middle of an ugly divorce when you are in a fake relationship with someone else?

This book was giving me both high and lows, laughter, confusion, anger and relief before the end. I’m still in love with the granny and the house chicken and I loved that the sisters finally connected.

I've been reading romance books with quite the high level of angst and also some heavy issues, so it was so nice to have a nice, light, sweet and funny read to turn to! This is the second book in the series and I think it's even better than the first!

We met Juliet in the first book, and I'll be honest, I didn't really like her that much. I felt bad that her entire world was crumbling down around her, especially regarding her ex husband, but I just felt like she steamrolled over Tess every chance she got, but it turns out Juliet is so sweet, so sensitive, but also so independent and strong and wanting to make an everlasting mark on the movie industry while having a true love by her side. She's everything a good heroine should be, and I just adored her!

And Jace.. I loved everything about that man! He was completely different from Juliet's cheating ex: meaning he's the kind of man you can actually depend on. He already does his best to take care of his family, but everyone around him as well. I loved that he saw underneath Juliet's movie star facade right away and just saw her.. that was really spectacular!

This book has many heartwarming moments, but it's also hilarious! Grans humor was injected at just the right times, as well as the chicken and pug who love each other! ;) if you're in the need for a sweet, romantic read before the end of summer, this is it!

Another Delancey Stewart hit! I could really relate to these characters and their everyday struggles and trying the best they can to keep their heads above water. I related to them in their humanity, compassion and huge hearts.

Juliet might have fame and fortune but what she really craves is for someone to see HER. Not ‘America’s Sweetheart’, but the real her, not what her money and status can offer. A true friend that looks past the glitz and glamour her life has become. She finds this in her bodyguard, Jace.

Jace has spent his life earning what he has through hard work and dedication. He’s trying his best to support his Mom and brother and never feel like a ‘charity case’. When he runs out of options, will he put his pride aside and take Juliet’s help? Or will his pride come between him and the woman he loves?

Take this beautiful, heart warming journey with these two as they each struggle individually, but might find their happily ever after if they combine their hearts and love as one.

I give this book a 2,5 stars. I just didn’t work for me.
I really liked the first book in this series “Happily ever his” and maybe I had to high hopes for this book about Tess sister Juliet and her bodyguard Jace.
I liked Jace until he got too alpha and couldn’t let Juliet help him and his family. He became to prideful and annoying. Juliet just bored me.
But one thing I liked was that they build a friendship in the beginning. They played mastermind and other games and got to know each other over a bottle of wine and talks.
Jace’s bodyguard co-worker Chad is just scum and I didn’t understand why she didn’t have him fired for making her feel unsafe in his company.
Not my taste this time.

The best thing I can say about this one is that the heroine wasn’t as annoying in her own book (because she sure came off as selfish and whiny in the previous book). Also, still don’t think the whole “fake a relationship as a distraction from your divorce” makes a lick of sense, but whatever. My OCBSD (obsessive compulsive book series disorder - wherein I hang through with a series until the bitter end regardless of how good it is) is solely responsible for my listening to this one...and will probably result in my listening to the final book in the series.

I hate to give low reviews especially for a book like this because it has a lot of potential. However I need to rate it accurately so I’ll call it a 2.5 Here’s why:

Pros:
- Grammatically correct and no typos. Love that
- The pace of the story was steady to a little too fast. I always prefer too fast to too slow.

Cons:
- Jace was a whiny, crybaby for most of the book. I assumed an ex-marine would be a little tougher
- Juliet was a total pushover in every aspect of her life. Not sure how she made it this far in life. I don’t expect this relationship to go far.
- Lots of loose ends. What happened to Chad? The stalker? The media?
-Book ended on HFN instead of. HEA
-Book ends at 80%. The last 20% is a preview of another book/books. That is fraudulent IMO.

I thought this was a great conclusion for Jace and Juliet; emotional in the right parts, the concurring storylines that seem to enhance the story without becoming the main focal point. Good chemistry between these two, and I loved seeing their slow-build romance starting with them becoming genuine friends first before feelings evolve into something more.

I just loved this book it was a good fun read and is the second book in the Movie Stars in Maryland series and they do really need to be read in order. I really enjoyed this one there was plenty of drama but it was also a super fun read that had me laughing out loud at times. If you read and enjoyed the first book then you won't want to miss this one.

Pornography
The story is very good. Unfortunately, it was filled with lots of detailed sex. I skipped over at least ¼ of the book to avoid the steamy stuff.
It was enough to ruin the book for me. I quit reading at the halfway mark. If this book were a movie it would be adult only. I am not impressed. I received this ARC book for free from Booksprouts and this is my honest review.

This was as enjoyable as the first one. In this we have Juliet's story. She is in love with her bodyguard Jace. However, he is having some family issues. Juliet offers to help but his ego has trouble with that. Thankfully by the end he gets it straight and they get their happy ending.

Happily Ever Hers is the other side to the story from Happily Ever His. It is a standalone, but you get a fuller picture of the story by reading both books.

Juliet Manchester is a Hollywood star in a PR nightmare. Her two-timing husband is claiming that she cheated on him, and is threatening to release their private videos if she doesn’t give him what he wants. Her reputation – and career – are on the line.

Jace Morgan has been Juliet’s bodyguard for a while when her ex shows his true colors. He is one of the ones to forcibly remove the guy from the house and takes his duty to protect Juliet very seriously. Juliet has had a crush on Jace since they met, but she was faithful to her ex and he would not violate company policy by getting involved with a client.

When Juliet goes to Jace, needing comfort, they begin a friendship that quickly spills over to being secret lovers. But her agent cooks up the “perfect” idea. Take her co-star home for her grandma’s birthday party and pretend to be dating him. The tabloids will eat it up and it will deflect from whatever her ex does.

One little problem. Juliet’s falling for Jace. How can she ask him to stand by and watch while she acts like she’s with someone else? And how can Jace handle his woman being fake-wooed by another?

Honestly, I finished Happily Ever His and was instantly looking for Juliet’s side of the story. There’s plenty of drama along the way, given that Jace is an ex-Marine who bases his self worth on the ability to care for his family. I did want to smack him because that led to him pushing Juliet away whenever she tried to help him financially. But when push came to shove, he really stood up for their love.

The book has loads of humor too though. Gran is one of my favorite characters ever – a WOW-playing, weed-smoking, hard drinking, foul-mouthed 90-year-old who sees more than anyone gives her credit for. The attempts to keep the affair secret, misunderstandings, and a parallel romance between Juliet’s sister and her co-star (chronicled in Happily Ever His) lead to some pretty funny moments.

This is an excellent book, made even better if you read the other one as well.
