The Call of Fire is the first installment in the Natura Elementals series. However, there are two prequel novellas, The Mistake & The Birthday, that provide all the necessary background information on the magic system and the traumas of both main characters, Aleron & Elspeth.

The Natura contain water, fire, air, and earth, their sole existence to balance Mother Nature and keep the planet safe. Natura either have o

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK! How can so much be wrapped up in just 300 something pages?! I couldn’t put this book down and I lost sleep!

This book puts us in a world where Mother Nature has gifted the elements human form so that they help the world survive the abuse of humankind. These beings are known as Naturas and they work to heal the world. We follow the story of Elspeth Lennox, granddaughter of the Fire Magnus and leader of the North American Naturas, she becomes the black sheep of the fa

Elspeth Lennox is a member of one of the most powerful "elite' Natura families, in a society that values powerful elementals. Her life should be perfect, right? Wrong. On the day she should have discovered what her elemental power would be, nothing happened. She is a null, or in not so polite terms, a dud. Now she spends her days arranging marriages for the Natura's elite, but her hope of finding love and a happy marriage for herself is slim to none. The best she can hope for is an arranged marr ...more

So to the last book of 2020.
When I signed up for this book I didn’t know the genre of the book but it turned out to be sci-fi. When I started reading it I was amazed.
Throughout the whole book, just one word rang in my head ‘Fascinating’.
I wonder how Beautiful they must have looked with their power ribbons surrounding them.
I wish I could just see how on the first page when that fist breeze struck Aleron’s face and fire glazed his face. and when they regen their powers, the first time Elspeth reig

A well-written, captivating story. I enjoyed this from the start to the very end. Although I hadn't read the first 2 novellas in this series, I did not feel that this detracted from this story and I didn't seem to be missing any information needed to follow the storyline. I will however be going back to read these now. The story follows Aleron, a fire elemental and Elspeth, a passive, who is the granddaughter of his greatest enemy Seanair. Aleron is owned by Seanair, and is tasked with bodyguard ...more

This most definitely was a fantastic read. When I first started it, I couldn’t really get into it but soon found myself unable to put it down. By the time I finished it, I was already looking forward to reading the next in the series. The plot was great and there were so many twists and turns in it, that it did become confusing as to what was going on at times. I’m still not entirely sure who is on what side for some of the characters. The two main characters had amazing growth as they struggled ...more

Intriguing and with possibilities

Although the premise was not necessarily new, the handling of the world-building had a freshness that appealed. Previously seen as weak the female lead gains powers that place her in a dangerous situation. Meanwhile lots of interesting characters abound including our hero. Sure of him, we are not so sure whose side some of the others will take.
Lovely romance and although there was some predictability in the use of the four elements as power sources, nevertheles

Excellent Story

The concept is unique, the story was engrossing, right to the ending. There wasn’t a cliffhanger and yet it ended in such a way that I am hoping that there will be another story. I loved the heroine and the hero, really good chemistry and I love that her BFF became his BFF; the story was multi layered and so satisfying. Read it, you won’t regret it!

A thrilling paranormal romance! What a terrific start to a new series if you don’t count those fabulous novellas that introduces the hero and heroine of this story. You don’t have to read the Mistake or the Birthday to enjoy this book but I recommend it. Neither did the author recount those stories in this one. Just enough details to get the gist of Aleron and Elspeth’s backstories. Speaking of Aleron and Elspeth. Absolutely stunning characters! You know going in where these are headed but the j ...more

The Call of Fire is the most intriguing and amazing book I’ve read in 2020!!

This story kept my attention from start to finish and was absolutely enthralling!

The different elements that are present in this book and their various powers were incredible. Fire, Water, Air and Earth and all their unique qualities were so interesting to read about.

The good: The main characters and most of the surrounding cast are well-developed and feel like real, diverse people. They're sympathetic, and easy to root for. The central romance is mostly well-developed, though it leans much more heavily towards being built on lust than a personal connection (the characters don't really have many deep conversations or anything vs just wanting their hands all

I had a really hard time getting into this book. I felt like there was a book or series that came before this one that had the world building in it, cause nothing made sense to me. I wasn’t inspired enough to check into it or anything though. I also didn’t like the main characters, something about them just didn’t sit right for me. The fact that these Natura elementals needed sex to recharge their batteries so to speak, but the FMC -being a null, couldn’t be a recharger, just ma

I received an ARC of The Call Of Fire in exchange for a review. The book started out pretty good but then it got slow and kind of boring. The Naturas had a lot of power but all they ever did with it in the book was blow things around a room or start a fire to show emotion. I would have liked to see more action and use their powers for something.

This was a good read. There were parts that seemed to drag in too long though. I am curious to see what Samuel is up to and what is brewing behind the scenes.

Paranormal trope

A trope is a trope is a trope just with different places and people, boring. This one also has very bad language. I only read a few pages and that was too many.
