Children's books come in all varieties, shapes, and sizes. Sharon C. Williams offers a new series about Jasper the Amazon Parrot who has adventures in the rain forest. This is my first book by the author and won't be the last... I've already read the first two in the series but will focus on the debut in this review.

Considered chapter books, this one has nine chapters and was published in 2019 with great success. The story begins when two baby parrots hatch from eggs in their mother's nest. They

An absolutely fun, brilliant book with humor and adventure, just perfect for kids of 5 to 8 years and adults like me who enjoy the innocence that is enclosed within the words.

Jasper was the Amazon parrot with a baby brother Willie, the book followed their lives from the time they hatched until they learned to fly. Perils and romps went hand in hand as they learned how to negotiate through their life journey. This was book 1.

My first book by author Sharon C. Williams, I was quickly pulled into

This book is a cute story with parrots as the main characters. It's unique to me because I've never read anything like that!

While I was enjoying the story I found some little things that bothered me a bit. The jealousy at the beginning of the book was something that I felt wasn't necessary to the story. Also in the middle part some things were a tad over the top. Like writing "Ahh" with 31 H's (I counted them), "Whee" with 28 E's and writing the word So as Soooooooooooooooooo. The book didn't

Jasper, Amazon Parrot is one of those stories that will capture your heart in more ways than one. A delightful tale about a young parrot and his friends who learn a lot about life in the Amazon jungle, it's a story you'll definitely want to read over and over again. Be it for yourself or with your children.

Sharon tells a story where anyone of any age can relate to Jasper, Willy, and the myriad of friends they make along the way. She also intersperses every day happenings into the story that are

When I first received this book, I was enthralled by the colorful cover. It instantly brightened my mood and I just KNEW I was going to enjoy this book. As I started reading it, I was absolutely captivated by the story line, the characters, and the way in which it was written. It appealed to me as an adult, yet I could see how it could still be perfect for a child. Jasper and his brother, Willie, have some pretty interesting adventures that will have you worried about them, laughing, smiling, ...more

Short but sweet! As a teacher I think I will get the printed version of this book for my classroom.I have read it to children as an ebook on my Kindle fire and they just love the colourful illustrations. It also led to discussions about the Amazon and how different the weather would be compared to England.Enjoyable picture book!

Sally their mother was sitting on the nest eggs that soon would hatch adding more parrots to the family.
Low/behold 1-day Willie (Yellow Cheek Amazon parrot, younger brother) had arrived.
Later he was trying his best to flutter/fly.
Al was trying to help the boys find their mother.
It wasnt long & Sally found them.
Jasper & Willie were going farther on their daily jungle outings. George (sloth) introduced himself.

This book was received from the Author/Publisher, in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was such a cute read and perfect for young readers who are just getting into chapter books.

In this story, Jasper and his brother Willie run into some obstacles and they grow up but they also learn that they are not grown-ups yet they still have a lot to learn. Which is great since there are multiple books in this series. There are a lot of lessons in this book even though

Jasper the parrot lived in the rainforest with his family and they were all Yellow Cheek Amazons. One day when their mama had gone out, both Jasper and his brother Willie jumped out of their nest and tried flapping their tiny wings. Their mama had told them that it would be a few more weeks before they could fly. Instead of flying like the other birds, they fell on the soft leaves below. Jasper could not find Willie and when he found him, they were

This is well written wonderful book about Jasper the Amazon Parrot and his brother Willie. The young readers should like all the struggles he has growing into a bird of flight and learning about his beginning days of flight.
The parrot wear all kinds of colors including yellow cheeks. Their head is violet and their body green. Halfway up a hollow tree was a nest with eggs. Ralph's eggs. Harper came out and then Willie came the next day. One day Willie convinced Jasper to try and fly while mama

Newly hatched Jasper has a lot to learn. The world inside the nest is so big at first, but as he grows he and his younger brother discover there is so much more adventure to the world. With their new friend Charlie, the spider monkey, exploration and new adventures are never far behind.

Jasper, Amazon Parrot is a rain forest adventure written by Sharon C Williams. This book is simply adorable. Jasper is such a lively character, and it was brilliant watching him and his brother grow and mature

I received a free e-copy of this book for review.
I have been known to read YA sci-fi and fantasy, but don't have any kids so this wouldn't normally come across my radar. I was absolutely taken by this book! It is sweet and loving without being unrealistic or silly. Even though the sentences aren't long and their structure fairly simple, the vocabulary is surprisingly advanced and not repetitive. The dialog and reactions of the characters ring true.

I first heard about "Jasper" when I met a woman named Sharon in our FB writing group. At the time it was all about her parrot and she'd post pictures of him and tell us about their conversations. Then "Jasper" went from "my pet bird" to "my book." Curiosity had finally gotten the better of me and I purchased the book from To be quite honest, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Sharon is more modest with her writing ability than she gives herself credit for! The story is ...more

Its been a while since Ive reviewed a childrens book, but I have to admit this reignited the child in me. I really enjoyed the innocence of Jasper and his brother Willie as they grew and explored the world around them.

One of my favorite parts was when they were learning to fly. I dont want to give away too much, but I loved how the author showed their struggles in a humorous way that took away any edge I felt about them.

This children's book follows the journey of two young birds as they find their wings and explore the world around there.

I like how Sharon perfectly captures the trouble-making spirit of two young boys, even while writing about birds. She gives their animals strong personalities that allowed me to really get into their characters.

Williams added a lot of great humor in the book that left a smile on my face, while the images included were beautiful to look at. I appreciated how there weren't a

I haven't read a childrens book since my sons were little, but this was a colorful and lively read. The author's words paint a glorious picture of a rain forest that I could never have imagined in my mind. I have recommended this book to my son for his little daughter.

I especially loved the beginning when Jasper first hatches, he was so innocent and humorous. And watching him and his brother grow while learning the

This is a great children's book. I confess, I don't have children, so I read it after I bought two copies of it for friends with children. My friend with a three and five year old, tells me that her children love "Jasper". They have added it to their nightly reading routine. Her three year old sees birds and tries to call for them- "Jasper, come here!".
To me, that's a five star review there- a three year old, in this day and age of tablets, phones, animation and electronics, wants to read Jasper

I loved the fact that the author gave us pertinent information about the rainforest and the Amazon parrot in such a cute story that we didn't realize we were learning. I could visualize the rainforest, the nest, the mud stuck on Willie, the ants, everything. It was just a good read. I think it is excellent for 3rd and 4th grade.
