While I was enjoying the story I found some little things that bothered me a bit. The jealousy at the beginning of the book was something that I felt wasn't necessary to the story. Also in the middle part some things were a tad over the top. Like writing "Ahh" with 31 H's (I counted them), "Whee" with 28 E's and writing the word So as Soooooooooooooooooo. The book didn't ...more

I have been known to read YA sci-fi and fantasy, but don't have any kids so this wouldn't normally come across my radar. I was absolutely taken by this book! It is sweet and loving without being unrealistic or silly. Even though the sentences aren't long and their structure fairly simple, the vocabulary is surprisingly advanced and not repetitive. The dialog and reactions of the characters ring true.

Its been a while since Ive reviewed a childrens book, but I have to admit this reignited the child in me. I really enjoyed the innocence of Jasper and his brother Willie as they grew and explored the world around them.

I like how Sharon perfectly captures the trouble-making spirit of two young boys, even while writing about birds. She gives their animals strong personalities that allowed me to really get into their characters.
