Levanine’s life as a slave is insignificant. She has always been property; bound to her owner, content to serve quietly where no one can cause her harm. However, when her master sells her to pay a debt, her false safety is shattered, and she finds herself offered as a sex slave on the continent of Dreanis.

Fearful and hopeless, Levanine expects the worst to happen. Nothing

The life as a slave was all Levanine ever knew, until her owner sold her as a sex slave and all she could expect is that life can only get worse. She never expected to be taken aboard a pirate ship, or that her life would change in ways she could only dream of. Perhaps all men are NOT the same monsters she has known?

SLAVE OF THE SEA by Dawn Dagger is NOT a tale of servitude, but one of an awakening of a fierce soul who will learn that she holds the key to her destiny and her survival. Come aboar

The topics in this book are not easy topics to deal with. You're supposed to be uncomfortable with the sex slavery and vileness of the world that surrounds Levanine. However, you also grow with her as she grows, and learn to trust as she does, and by the end of the story, you will feel as if your world has opened into a bright, hopeful future. ...more

To be entirely honest, I wasn't quite sure what I'd think of this book because the subject matter is not what I usually read, but I'm familiar with the author and knew she'd handle the issue tactfully, so when she reached out to ask if I'd write a review, I said yes. And I wasn't disappointed.

Yes, this book is uncomfortable at times. A story set in a world where sex slaves are the norm should be uncomfortable. But, as I expected going in, Dawn put forth the issues explicitly enough to have emoti

In a world where young adult novels seem to recycle the same idea multiple times, "Slave of the Sea" puts a refreshing perspective on the concept of a pirate story.

There is a fascinating fantasy world in which the adventure is set, that makes the characters' struggles fit in more colorfully than simply making up a story in earth's history, or leaving massive lore gaps for the sake of a quick ending. Dawn Dagger knows how to let us discover the universe she designed from the perspective of a cha

Instead of (constant) smut like I assumed this is going to be based on the title and synopsis, it was instead a wonderful adventure story.
