This was such an enjoyable fun quick read.

Robert Davenport is the mayor of New York. He is planing to aim for the governor’s seat. His campaign manager advised him to go after his opponents former scandalous daughter and try to gain some secrets out of her. Adeline Blake has decided to change her life and to become more responsible. She changed her appearance, and now she’s hiding in plain sight as an event planer.

A scandalous and amusing read from one of my favorite authors.

This is a really great start to Lauren Layne's new "Man of the Year" series. Yay!!!!
A "Politically" themed romance with the all the wit, humor and style that I have come to expect and associate with this author.
I really enjoyed this supposed bad girl?/honest politician? storyline . A very "rapid" page turner for me!!

Lauren Layne is a familiar author to me. I have read many of her books. I was very happy that I received this book as an ARC. Yours In Scandal is the first book in the upcoming series Man of the Year. It is a light, feelgood contemporary romance.

Robert is New York mayor and Adeline is a party planner he hires to organize his last party as a mayor. She is also the daughter of his political opponent. Robert's political adviser wants him to use her in the battle for the governor's seat. All

This was my first book by Lauren Layne and I really enjoyed it! Adeline is a party planner hired to plan Robert, the NY mayor’s last party as mayor. She also happens to be the daughter of his biggest opponent. Robert was really charming and a great new book boyfriend. Addie was a lot of fun and is just trying to stay under the radar and put her past behind her. Yours in Scandal was just the slow burn I needed. Robert and Adeline had great chemistry and I really liked the romance between

I Loved the romance between Robert and Adeline, A mayor and a former party girl. YES PLEASE! I have read every Lauren Layne novel and i am not disappointed. This book kept me up at night but I’d do it again. Thank you next Galley for letting me review this book. This was one that i was planning on picking up the moment it came out. Now i am going to buy it in physical form when it comes out too. It was just a really good romance. I LOVED IT!!!!!!

Lauren Layne is a hit-or-miss author for me (often more of a hit than miss), but this one was, unfortunately, a miss. It definitely had that cute romance we know and love from the author, but the story was… underwhelming. To say the least.

After becoming the youngest mayor in the history of New York, Robert Davenport wants to relinquish his title and become a governer. His campaign manager tracks down his biggest opponent’s

Several friends had recommended Lauren Layne to me, but I hadn't had a chance to read any of her books yet. I have definitely been missing out! This is my first read by her, but I fell in love with her writing style and sense of humor. The enemies-ish to friends to lovers slow burn romance was really well done and I loved the banter and back and forth between Addie and Robert. There's even a bit of taboo with all the secrecy and politics involved. The plot was fairly predictable, but it was done ...more

I really enjoyed this. It was a quick, sexy and fun read. I love Lauren Layne's writing. I only wish this was longer, there's so much left unsaid. I honestly thought there was going to be a cliffhanger at the end, it ended up a little bit rushed for me butt overall I really had a nice time.

I really enjoyed this slow burning, political romance from Lauren Layne. I can always count on her to deliver a well-written, intriguing story. Yours in Scandal is the story of Robert Davenport in the last months of his tenure as mayor of NYC and Addie Brennan/Adeline Blake, event planner and estranged daughter of his rival in the upcoming gubernatorial election. Robert hires Addie to plan a party with the intention of getting the dirt on her dad but instead ends up falling for her, even though ...more

Lauren Layne is incredibly good at writing slowburn romances, and Yours in Scandal is yet more evidence of that. But what I felt here that I haven’t generally before, was that the whole thing was just dull. Sure, I still liked it, but I was uninterested in a way I have rarely been with Lauren Layne.

Yours in Scandal is a more political romance than any of Layne’s others, if only because it

Lauren Layne books never disappoint and YOURS IN SCANDAL proves that point yet again.

Take a media savvy, handsome, honest Mayor of New York City who’s about to announce a possible run for the governor’s mansion, and a former party girl who defines the term scandal-ready and who also happens to be the current governor’s daughter, mix them together and then stand back because the you know what is gonna hit the fan!

This was a really cute, short read!!

I loved ROBERT! I’d vote for him. Maybe. Probably.

I usually don’t find myself drawn to books surrounding politician hero’s but!! This is the one girlies! It was super cute and fun and aw!!

I do wish there was more stuff that happened because I feel like it all happened in like a day but other than that it was a good time

Ok so I went a little back and forth with this one. I liked Robert and I like Addie/Adeline and was going good rooting for them and then got infuriated, why well Addie was trying to not like him and she says she would set him up with one of her bestie Rosalie and he was kind of offended, yup got that and then Rosalie tells her she does not want one of her rejects because she knew her friend Addie liked Robert. So Robert was a wus and kind of let others push him to do things he didn't care much ...more
In an age of political cynicism, ‘Yours in Scandal’ is a more lighthearted take on politics and an incidental romance that develops out of it, never steering too close to the deep divisiveness that dominates the headlines these days.

That said, I am familiar with Layne’s style which does have a certain smartness and intelligence to the modern-day rom-com. But in recent times, they’ve sort of faded for me and I’d hoped that ‘Yours in Sandal’ would be a perk-me-up. As a result, I’m mixed with this

What happens when the Mayor of New York falls for his arch-rival's wayward daughter?

Now okay, I've got allergies this morning and my eyes have been watering since I put my mascara on but I don't think it's a coincidence that they started watering harder (that doesn't sound right) when I got to "the big moment" in this book.

Addie Brennan left New York and dropped off the radar after her wild-child party lifestyle got her publicly disowned by her father, the Governor of New

Thank you to Montlake Romance and NetGalley for a free e-arc of this title for review.

This romance features the NYC mayor, but make him young and sexy. That's it: I was instantly sold. Politics are my JAM; add in a romcom and you've got a book that'll hit me where I live.

Anyways, Robert, the mayor, lost his dad when he was young, and followed in his footsteps into a career as an elected official. Addie just so happens to be the governor's daughter. None of this is a big deal - except that

Highkey still not over the fact that Robert's well-versed in romcoms enough to make a Notting Hill reference.

I almost forgot I had this book sitting on my Kindle. I've been in a reading rut lately and have been re-reading some of my favorite series. As I was scrolling through my library I knew this was the perfect book to get me out of my rut and I was right. It was an amazing book that made me laugh, sigh and wish I had a Robert of my own.

I won't lie when reading it I was picturing Robert looking a little like Justin Trudeau but Robert's character made me instantly fall in love with him. Despite being

I'm afraid that if I give an in-depth summary that I will give away spoilers. I am surely not about a spoiler review.

What I will say is that I immensely enjoyed this read. It was fast-paced. We were given the perspective of both the male and female side of the story. I enjoy that as a reader as long as it's done well. I dislike when a writer does both roles in the same mannerisms. I feel that Ms. Layne did a great job of you getting to know the personalities of each character.

Thank you to the publisher and to Netgalley for letting me read and review!

I love Lauren Layne and this one felt so much like some of her older stories. I love the strong female character who does hard thing and sticks to her guns. That thread of determination and solid friendship is part of why I consume most everything she writes. I really enjoyed how she wove some NYC history into the story this time. Her love for the city definitely shines in her writing. If you like contemporary romance

Robert Davenport, newly minted Man-of-the-Year, is getting ready to leave the job he loves as mayor of New York. The next step is to run for Governor, but he has some stiff competition in the form of George Brennan, the current incumbent, who leads a perfect life on the surface. Except maybe for his scandalous daughter, Addie, who has disappeared from everybody’s radar since her wild younger years. Lauren Layne writes lovely romance novels to lose yourself in. You become friends with the characters and feel involved in their lives.

The absolute highlight of this book was the development and strength of character of both our hero and heroine. Plus, it’s always lovely reading about two people who genuinely come to care about each other. It’s beautiful.

Considering the political climate these characters live in, the story itself wasn’t overly political. It’s a romance which happens to have
