Bella storia, con protagonisti che a tratti definirei "intensi". Decisamente mi piacciono queste serie multi-autori con protagoniste unità k-9.

3.5 Stars! I don’t read as much inspirational romance as I would like to and I feel like with this book, I’ve found my favourite Harlequin imprint and it just might be Love Inspired suspense. This wasn’t exactly chilling to the bone of suspense. But what it was was a nice even wholesome story of love and arson and handing over the reigns to God, set around a New York-K9 police unit.

I believe this book is part of a series called True Blue K-9 Unit: Brooklyn Series. I haven’t read any of the series and even though some incidents in previous books seem to be referenced here, even as a stickler for reading in order, like with most Harlequin series, it’s written by different authors, so it’s not at all necessary to have read the first book in the series without checking out the others. This is my first book in the series and it was easy to follow.

It felt a bit odd reading a book whose premise is the investigation of an allegation of police brutality (not race-related in this case but still abuse of power related). Obviously this book was written prior to The (very necessary) Global Reckoning around policing black people but I still found it interesting seeing the negative feelings by police around investigations into alleged misconduct by fellow officers in the Internal Affairs department. Well and good, in this case clearly the hero was innocent and was being framed, but the fact that “good” officers are against the discovery of truth by independent parties to me exemplifies in a way, why the “bad” officers are able to get away with misconduct when there is the conspiracy of silence not to call a spade a spade.

But I digress majorly. That is not what the book was at all about. The premise is that Henry is alleged to have used excessive force in arresting a young man, an allegation he denies vehemently. However, Olivia, a Lieutenant (and superior Officer) from Internal Affairs, is investigating him, and there is chemistry, which they both know they have to suppress especially when Henry is being stalked by an obsessive and malicious bomber who is determined to destroy everyone Henry shows an interest in, including Olivia.

I liked this Inspirational Romance. I thought the faith messages of letting go of the reigns to God were accessible and relatable. I think more could have been done with the theme of forgiveness which was only briefly touched on. I think the spiritual messages in this were quite lightly handled but clearly done so that the characters were clearly people of faith, but even those who don’t believe could comfortably read them because the messages are subtle.

This isn’t my first romance from this author, and God-willing it won’t be my last. I enjoy her writing and I really enjoyed this Inspirational Suspense imprint. Many thanks to Harlequin Books Love Inspired Suspense for sending me an advanced copy of this romance through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed Explosive Situation by Terri Reed. She always does a great job of creating well developed characters and uses descriptive language in a way that you can easily picture every scene. When I read Explosive Situation - the 4th book in the True Blue K-9 Unit: Brooklyn, I had not yet read any of the previous books in the series. Though there were some references to what happened in previous books, this book was wonderful on its own. I don't feel like anything in the previous books was spoiled to the point of not wanting to read them.

The IA investigation made Olivia and Henry instant adversaries from the beginning. It was great to see how they got to know each other and fell in love. Henry's sister Riley's relationship with her brother was totally understandable. You really got an idea for what all the characters were feeling which I thought made the book great. My favorite lines were "But the thread of attraction knitting them together was stronger than her will. In this moment, she was helpless to resist the yearning deep in her soul."

The suspense part of the book is full of action with a bomber targeting Henry, Riley, and Olivia. Cody, the bomb sniffing K-9, plays a big role in trying to keep everyone safe. It was a hard book to put down.

I received a free copy of this book from the author without any requirement of submitting a positive review. All opinions are my own.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Explosive Situation. This is book four in the continuity series, True Blue K-9 Unit: Brooklyn. This has been a great series; it's written by some of my favorite authors. Terri is one of my favorites. This story is well written, full of faith, and full of twists and turns. I know you are going to love it.

Detective Henry Roarke is on office duty because he was charged with excessive force on one of his cases. He wants more than anything to get out from under this investigation and get back to work. He is being interviewed by the beautiful Olivia when a text comes about a bomb threat. A threat that could harm his baby sister. He takes off. The IA officer goes with him.

Internal Affairs Officer Olivia Vance is investigating Henry. When he leaves in the middle of her interview with him she is forced to go with him. They find a bomb that goes off at Coney Island. She has a baby on the way, she shouldn't be out in the field with a bomber set on destroying Henry.

A dangerous journey to find the bomber. How did he get Henry's personal phone number? What is his connection to Henry's sister? How can he keep both women safe plus an unborn baby? God has a plan for these two, a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. We now live in a time of fear and terror but God can keep you and your family safe. Give Him your heart and watch Him turn your life around.

I so enjoy books that involve K-9 dogs in various situations! They are amazing assets to the law enforcement community! Cody is a bomb-sniffing dog in this story and Henry is his handler. Henry has been put on administrative leave because someone said he used too much force when he arrested them. Sound familiar in our day and time? However, Henry didn't do it and he's going to prove it! He doesn't like just sitting around the station and neither does Cody!!! Olivia is the Internal Affairs officer who is investigating the allegation. She takes that seriously and has to spend time with Henry to see if the charges are true. However, a bomber suddenly targets Henry & his sister just as the investigation ramps up so Olivia is caught up in it too AND she's pregnant! There was a lot of action, which this author does very well. I liked the characters and the story line. Of course I loved Cody, the dog, too! It's part of a series but I haven't read the other books and totally enjoyed it!

I enjoy these K-9 mysteries and this is definitely one of the better ones. We get to met an Internal Affairs officer, checking out a cop who, with his trained dog, are on the explosives-finding team. Now, we can agree that the excuses the lady makes for spending time with the gentleman are just that, but he has a fractious teen sister to care for and he's been accused of using excessive force while arresting a teen, so she justifies this to herself.

The is a multi-cultural romance set in Brooklyn. There's a mad bomber. What more do you need to know?

I read this e-ARC from Net Galley and Fresh Fiction. This is an unbiased review.

Explosive Situation is the fourth book in the True Blue K-9 Unit series. I started at book 4 and I wasn't lost. In fact, I got deeply invested into the characters and story very quickly.

I am a huge fan of Terri Reed's books and I'm a sucker for a book with a dog on the cover so I knew I was going to love this story and I wasn't disappointed. There is so much to like about this story - the fast paced story, the wonderful hero and heroine and the dogs.....

Olivia Vance has just been promoted to Lieutenant in the police department's Internal Affairs department. She is investigating K-9 Detective Henry Roarke for unnecessary force allegations. The previous Internal Affairs officer, Lt. Jabboski had a mild heart attack and retired leaving the investigation up to Olivia. She needed to interview Detective Roarke and wanted to observe his actions in normal settings. As she started the interview at Brooklyn's K-9 headquarters Henry received a text message bomb threat. She noted his alarm at receiving the text and he explained about the bomb threat and his added concern about his sister being in the vicinity of the threat location. Olivia insisted on going along on the call with Henry and his K-9 bomb-sniffing dog, Cody. What better way to get a good look at this officer's demeanor than on a call. She was impressed with Henry's handling of the situation this time but decided she needed more observation before writing her report and making a recommendation to the review board. Or was this just an excuse to spend more time with Henry because she was attracted to him?

Detective Henry Roarke was tired of doing desk duty during an Internal Affairs investigation of what he knows was justified action when Davey Carrell attempted to grab his sidearm when Henry detained Davey following his bomb sniffing dog Cody's alert on the young man's backpack. Henry needed for himself and Cody to get back on the job especially now as strange bomb threats were being texted to his phone. It seemed these threats were being directed at people close to him. He wanted to find this bomber and stop him. At first the appearance of Lt. Vance was an annoyance. He had already given his statement to to Lt. Jabboski. As Olivia spent time with him he found it difficult to resist his attraction to her. Nothing could happen between the two of them though. They could both lose their jobs.

Explosive Situation by Terri Reed is the fourth book in the Harlequin series, True Blue K-9 Unit: Brooklyn. This series has an overriding arc of a cold case murder and the occurrence on the 20th anniversary of that murder of another murder which was eerily similar. As these types of Harlequin series go this book advanced the solving of the mystery. I enjoy these Harlequin series which progress to solving a mystery throughout the series. The storyline in this installment has plenty of action and intrigue. I liked how Olivia and Henry fought their attraction but realized they cared for each other enough to overcome any obstacles to their relationship. Many characters and their K-9 partners appear in this story and this adds to my enjoyment of reading this book. I am looking forward to the next book in the series, Tracking A Kidnapper by Valerie Hansen.

Except for a few minor grammatical mistakes, such as a missing article (the letter "a" and the word "the") this book was very well written. Explosive Situation is the 4th book of a 9 book series. The first 3 books came out on April 1st, May 1st, and June 1st. You need to read from the beginning of the series, because if you don't, you will miss a lot of critical information. In fact, you should read the entire True Blue K-9 Unit series that was published in 2019 BEFORE reading any of these. Both sets of series occur in New York: True Blue K-9 Unit happens in Queens, New York and True Blue K-9 Unit series occurs in, well, Brooklyn, New York. The Brooklyn series makes mention of some of the stuff that went on in the 1st series. Also, there was a prequel to the 1st set of books, titled Shield of Protection by Dana Mentink; followed by books 1-9: Justice Mission by Lynette Eason, Act of Valor by Dana Mentink, Blind Trust by Laura Scott, Deep Undercover by Lenora Worth, Seeking the Truth by Terri Reed, Trail of Danger by Valerie Hansen, Courage Under Fire by Sharon Dunn, Sworn to Protect by Shirlee McCoy, and True Blue K-9 Unit Christmas (2 novellas) by Laura Scott and Maggie K. Black. THEN start reading the True Blue K-9 Unit: Brooklyn series of 2020. As far as I know, there is no prequel to the 2020 series, so you would begin with Copycat Killer by Laura Scott, Chasing Secrets by Heather Woodhaven, Deadly Connection by Lenora Worth, and Explosive Situation by Terri Reed. There is an error on the Kindle edition AFTER you finish reading Explosive Situation. It says the next book is about Belle Monterra; however, that book is either the 2nd or 3rd of the series, not the 5th. Continuing with the Brooklyn series, book 5 will be Tracking a Kidnapper by Valerie Hansen (publication date August 1, 2020); Scene of the Crime by Sharon Dunn (pub. September 1, 2020); Cold Case Pursuit by Dana Mentink (pub. October 1, 2020); Delayed Justice by Shirlee McCoy (pub. November 1, 2020); and True Blue K-9 Unit: Brooklyn Christmas (2 novellas) by Laura Scott and Maggie K. Black. It really is important to read all of these books in chronological order because of the storyline throughout. The killer of the first set is not found out until the next to the last book in the series. Good reading, y'all! Barbara Kelley

Explosive Situation
True Blue K-9 Unit: Brooklyn
By Terri Reed

Detective Henry Roarke has been stuck in the office since he was falsely accused of using excessive force. Now with a new IA officer on the case, Henry is starting to feel the stress. He needs to be out on the street doing his job with his partner Cody. But until he is cleared of all charges he is stuck filing and training with the other K-9 officers.

Adding to Henry's stress is his little sister Riley. For the last 6 years, he and Riley have been it and she is eager to get out from under his protective wings. When a bombing threat is sent to Henry's phone he knows he has to act fast as Riley is in the vicinity of the threat location. IA officer Lieutenant Olivia Vance is more than a little annoyed when Detective Roarke leaves in the middle of her questioning. When Henry on restricted duties she feels compelled to go along with him to ensure that he follows protocol and finds his sister in time.

Olivia is good at her job but the animosity Internal Affairs officers face is not one of its perks. She's determined to get to the truth about the night in question. Henry seems on the up-and-up but there are no witnesses to verify either version of events. She needs to get a feed of how he works and whether he is as good as his fellow officers' claim.

Explosive Situation finds Henry and those close to him being targetted - does it have anything to do with the potential charges against Henry or is it something else? Only time will tell as Henry works to keep those close safe and to keep his heart unentangled, which is becoming harder to do the more he gets to know Olivia Vance.

This is yet another good read from the True Blue K-9 Unit series. This book follows the Brooklyn Unit but some of the officers that were in the original True Blue K-9 Unit series are well represented in this series. And come on everyone loves a good dog story and this one has dogs aplenty. Want to get away from your everyday routine? This is an excellent way to spend a few hours unwinding from your ordinary.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

In 2020, I got hooked on the True Blue K-9 Unit series published by Harlequin's Love-Inspired Suspense series (you can read my review of the series here). Evidently, the company has a series every year, and the following one published last year (I know, I'm a year behind) was the True Blue K-9 Unit Brooklyn (the first series was based in Queens).

I've missed the second part, but so far I've read the first, third, and fourth installments of this nine part series, and today I'm dealing with the latter, Explosive Situation by Terri Reed. I find it interesting that the fourth installments of both series deal with bomb sniffing pooches (a Beagle in this story, a Springer Spaniel and a Golden Retriever in Deep Undercover of the Queens series).

So far, this is my favorite of this series. In the previous series, it was the 5th book, Seeking The Truth by Terri Reed. If the author's name sounds familiar, it may be because you saw it in the title of this current review. At the moment, I've read only those two books by Terri, but I'm hooked.

One interesting thing about this book - it deals with a police officer suspected of excessive violence by an Internal Affairs investigator. Some of you may guess that the IA leader and the officer are of different genders and end up falling in love with each other. For those with that suspicion, what do you think this story is? Part of the Love-Inspired Suspense series?

A minor character that made this more enjoyable for Becky and I was Kitty.
Kitty is ... a cat. Not just any cat, but a Sphinx Cat. For those who haven't read the book or aren't familiar with cat breeds, Sphinx's are known as being hairless. Reed points out in the story that isn't true - they do have a peach fuzz. My wife would love a Sphinx Cat in the hopes that her cat allergies wouldn't act up. (I've read enough to know there's no guarantees - cat allergies are cause more by the cat's dander rather than their fur, and Sphinxes have dander.

Back to the book. It is an excellent story, with the surprises you expect in the story. I highly recommend it.

A duke's daughter, Adela fights for the chance to fall in love with a worthy man of her own choosing.

The eleventh and final installment in the Hagenheim Saga, follows Adela the youngest daughter of the the Duke of Hagenheim, she is artistically gifted, with an eye for color and beauty. She meets a kindred spirit in the marketplatz, a talented woodcarver, Frederick. Though engaged in a courtship with a neighboring member of the nobility, she can't help but be drawn to Frederick, who understands the way that she sees the world.

I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet, wholesome story of sacrifice and friendship. I liked how Adela has learned from observing her family members, yet isn't afraid to make her own way, and she's alright if that doesn't mean strapping on a sword or bow. She is thoughtful and kind, and I liked how her parents take time to listen to her and respect her judgements, while still being protective of her.

Frederick is a noble son, caring for his family, and working hard on his family's farm. He does his best to protect his mother and sisters from their father's drunken behaviour. I loved his strong moral compass, and his heart for putting others first. He is probably one of my favorite heroes in this series, because though humble of birth and situation, that didn't matter, he still fought for what was right.

This was an engaging read, and I loved the strong themes of family and faith, along with well developed side characters and storylines, secrets and character development. I really appreciated this story, with a thoughtful heroine who stands up for herself but also doesn't need to take up a weapon. Well written and a fitting conclusion to this memorable series--though I'm against Toby popping up somewhere in the future!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

"Explosive Situation" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. It's the fourth book in a series, but each novel can be read as a stand alone. Detective Henry has been accused of using excessive force when arresting a young man, and Olivia is the officer assigned to investigate the charges. During their initial interview, Henry gets a text warning of a bomb about to detonate near his sister. He puts family first and jeopardizes his career by cutting the interview short and taking his bomb sniffing dog into action when he's supposed to stay at the office. Before long, Olivia's also targeted in an attempt to force her to find Henry guilty. It appears that Henry is being set up, but can they determine who and why before someone is killed?

The suspense stayed high as new threats against Henry, his sister, and Olivia kept coming one after another. The characters reacted realistically to events and were likable. Henry and Olivia quickly came to admire the others character and personality (as well as their looks). Henry was good at his job and concerned about Olivia's safety, but he respected her competence. Olivia didn't want to be coddled but was sensible enough to accept protection and backup when needed. Henry built Olivia up with his words even though it was her job to investigate him. They were a good match.

The characters briefly talked about trusting God to keep loved ones safe. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this exciting suspense.

Explosive Situation by Terri Red is one of the best Harlequin Suspense books I have read. The author was able to showcase the characters personalities so well. She created situations that were relatable to today’s headlines.

Henry is a K9 officer that is under investigation for excessive force. Olivia is the Internal Affairs Lieutenant that is investigating the case. I really loved these characters and how the author gave us a glimpse into the life of an IA officer.

You get to see both sides of the situation. Through Olivia’s eyes you wonder about his temper and protectiveness of his sister that he is raising. From Henry’s side you see the frustration of no one seeing what happened, the body cam not working and wondering if someone is messing with him.

At the same time Henry is receiving texts about bomb threats that are very close to where is sister happens to be. Figuring out the bomber while under investigation gets complicated along with not developing feelings for the officer that is investigating him.

I highly recommend this read.it is part of a series and can be read as a stand-alone. However if you have been following the series you get to see development in other cases which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Sexual content - there may have been a kiss
Violence - bombs, kidnapping, threats

I received this book from Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review.

Will this case explode in their faces?

Oh, boy! Can I say that Explosive Situation is my new favorite Love Inspired Suspense book from Terri Reed? Because it most definitely is! It had everything that I was looking for in a quick romantic suspense read.

So, what did I love about Explosive Situation, aside from the fast pace and un-put-down-ablity of it? Well, I think the top reason would be how different the plot was from the usual. I've never read one of these books with an internal affairs investigator as a lead character before. I've also not read one where the villain's revenge on a character was planned and that plan executed in quite the same manner. It was great!

Terri Reed's books just keep getting better and better with each new release. And when you add K-9 officers to the mix, well, this dog lover is very happy with the story. You just can't beat a book with dogs, right? This fourth book in the True Blue K-9 Unit: Brooklyn series is a winner!

Detective Henry Roarke's is under investigation after being assumed of being a a brute. Olivia is the officer investigating Henry and seems to have got in the cross hairs of a bomber who seems to be targeting Henry.

There is so much love about this book. I loved that there was somewhat two mystery going on, not really mystery but the fact that Olivia was investigating Henry and trying to find the truth of what happened to a case that has him under the fire. Then theres the whole bomber thing trying to figure out who it is and why Henry was the target to keep things interesting. There is the bit of the simmering attraction between Henry and Olivia that I loved watching. There was the constant worry of when the bomber would strike and watching Henry deal with teenager issues who is fighting to be an adult. Theres just so much going on to keep the readers interested and I really enjoyed reading it.

Another delightful book

The story starts with Olivia, an IA Lieutenant, investigating Henry, a K-9 Officer. Naturally there is animosity but as Henry is being targeted by someone they come to see the strength, faith and kindness in each other. There are bomb threats, explosions, vandalism and a kidnapping. Olivia is a strong woman that, during this investigation, sees that she wants a different role in helping others. Henry realizes he loves Olivia and finally tells her. Henry has a loving K-9 partner Cody, Olivia has a very unique cat Kitty, there are other K-9 officers and their dogs and adorable puppies. Terri Reed has written another delightful story with strong interesting characters and has a happy ending. I started reading it and just kept reading until I finished it.

This is another exciting, suspenseful, and romantic story in the “True Blue K-9 Unit: Brooklyn” series. The two main characters, Henry and Olivia, were people of faith and integrity, and it was easy to hope that they would find their happily-ever-after together. There was enough action in this story to keep me wanting to see what happened next, and there’s a plot twist at the end of the book that I did not see coming. I have enjoyed reading about the police dogs and their training, and Police Dog Cody does excellent work in this book. It’s an entertaining book, and I recommend this whole series if you like stories filled with suspense, hope, and faith.

Explosive Situation by Terri Reed is one exceptional romantic suspense. These characters created a lure like no other. I was addicted! The suspense was done well. I kept wondering what next or where the characters would be left afterwards. Every page held danger. Risks were taken and consequences were felt. Mystery, a bubbling romance, and an unknown enemy can be found in this exciting read. This book was a clean read with action-packed scenes and high intense situations. Plus, I am a total softy for the K-9 officers and their fury partners. Overall, this novella was well-crafted. Terri Reed is a talented writer with a knack for designing the best suspense stories.

Very good read with a lot of action throughout the book so you were pulled right along as you went. The book ended to soon as far as the only downfall of the story.
K-9 officer Henry Roarke is tired of being stuck behind desk but since he’s under investigation he has no choice in the matter until his sister Riley and he are targeted as well as anyone else close to them by several bomb threats.
Olivia Vance an Internal affairs officer is sent to conduct the interview with Henry and is caught up in the threats and even her place is blown up. As Henry and Olivia are forced to work together over the next few days on this case and that the bomb threats are not the only trouble brewing between them.

This book is about Henry who is a K9 Police Officer and he is being investigated by Internal Affairs because a young man said that Henry used excessive force when he tried to arrest him.

This is an awesome book but it is extremely hard to write a review because I know that I will tell too much of the story or give a few spoilers so let me just say that you won't want to miss this book.

The Internal Affairs Investigator is Olivia and she goes with Henri so that she can help him prove his innocence and get back to work. His sister that he is raising is Riley and she thinks that big brother is too protective.

Explosive is the word for this book. Henry Roarke’s protectiveness and loyalty to his job make this book absolutely captivating. Being accused of unnecessary roughness, and being investigated for that, never alters his duties and protectiveness, even when it comes to an Internal Affairs investigator. Buy this book, and find out all the obstacles he faces in protecting his baby sister, and the pregnant IA investigator, as well as trying to clear the accusations against him.
I love the K-9 series, and Terri Reed does a fantastic job at writing those stories.
I was provided a copy of this book for an honest review. And my honest review is that this book is absolutely fantastic. Good job Terri!

Who and/or what are Cody, Olivia, and Henry? Why are we focusing on Henry? What has happened? What is he accused of? When Olivia is speaking with him at his office, what happens? where does he rush off to? Wow! I did not expect what I found out in this story as to why the things were happening were being done! It was a shock why, and still a bit of a puzzle, but then as I think about the situation, I can understand the anger because of what the person was told. It was an interesting read to the K-9 series. So much fun. I recommend this book!

Talk about a fascinating read. Officer Henry Roarke has a problem that is getting worse as the story goes. What's interesting is the reason behind the attacks. I love the way Olivia Vance is so calm in the situations. She brings reasoning into it. The way Terri weaves this story she draws from more than one angle. Its neat how she shows that there is more to Olivia than an IA. She shows the human side of both Henry and Olivia. Henry thru his sister and Olivia thru her baby. I found it interesting who the bomber was and what was wrong with him. This is a intetesting story to read. I can't wait to read more of this series. J

Interesting and Inspirational Romance

This story was good, but for a well-known publishing company, I found some of the typos very odd (then/than, a name spelling changed and changed back, and a couple more.) There was a lot of repetition, too.
Having said all that, the plot kept me interested and I enjoyed reading about the characters. The faith element was strong enough without being overwhelming, as it would perhaps look in a real life situation.
If you enjoy suspense romance with a strong faith element and a few interesting characters, and you don't mind the things that stood out to me as errors, then you might try this book.

Nothing like suspense

All I can say is WOW, there is mystery and suspense from the beginning to the end. Henry is a good cop but someone is setting him up, someone is out to destroy everything and everyone he loves. Internal Affairs is investigating him, someone is harassing his sister, Lieutenant Olivia Vance from IA is watching his every step. This story has bombs, kidnapping, vandalism of police property, domestic violence, mental health issues, but it ends with two people finding love.
