I used to be an avid reader of cozy mysteries, and I'm not sure why I fell off track with them. As I continue to age, I've found myself developing that need again to balance out the dark, heavy, and unsettling reads with books that are light, upbeat, and a little humorous. Cozy mysteries are perfect for this, because they typically envelope all the things I love about romantic comedies while inserting a good old fashioned murder or crime that needs solving. Mimi Lee checked so many of

Come to find out those dogs come from the same breeder, so she sets out one day to investigate. Mimi has an unfortunate encounter with the breeder and the next day he's found dead. The detective is out to prove Mimi did it and Mimi has no choice but to prove that she didn't. She starts investigating on her own ...more

I didn't think I would enjoy this book as much as I did. A funny, sassy, highly enjoyable mystery read.

This is a paws-itively wonderful book. Marshmellow, the cat who speaks to Mimi; adorable Chihuhuas and a murder mystery. This delightful book has it all.

I haven't read a cozy mystery since...high school? It's been a while, and it was never a main genre of mine, but I could not resist the cute cover or the heavy cat-ness. This is very cute!

So I really love the setup for this series. The heroine, Mimi Lee, is a pet groomer who just opened up a store called Hollywoof. Though she prefers dogs, her sister finds a cat in need of a home and gives the big fluffy white cat to Mimi, who adopts him and names him Marshmallow. Turns out Marshmallow can talk
Mimi Lee Gets a Clue is the first book in the Sassy Cat Mystery series and I am happy to report that the kitty in this series, Marshmallow, was very much a contributing character. He was a great addition to this story and if cats could truly talk, I believe they would all sound like him. Although, he may be a cut above the rest. Also, note, that as this is the first book in the series, there is a lot of information given about Mimi, her friends, family, and business. Do not let that be a turn ...more

A BIG thanks to Berkley Prime Crime!

Oh my word!

As my neighbor was known to say, never in all my born days! I was reading this book at the bakery and laughing so hard, the random guy at the next table asked me, if I was ok!

Mimi is a refreshing new sleuth. She's petite, cute, charming, fun, spunky, lovable and determined to discover the identity of a killer. And then there's Marshmallow! I love the cat's name! Marshmallow is a big puff, of apparently, overweight fur. Marshmallow has plenty of

I'm a sucker for two things: a good cozy mystery and cats. Jennifer Chow gives me both with Mimi Lee Gets a Clue. As a cat lover, I've often imagined what my cat's meows and judgy looks mean. Thanks to Mimi, I don't have to wonder because I'd imagine my cat is just as sassy and surly as Marshmallow.

Using Marshmallow to help her get information is genius and using him to communicate with other pets, especially dogs, was particularly amusing.

I loved Chow jumping in and giving Mimi a romantic

MIMI LEE GETS A CLUE is a delightful book. Full of humor, memorable characters, and lovable animals, this fast-paced story kept me entertained from beginning to end. Add in a mystery that keeps you wondering, and Chow's new series becomes the perfect pick for cozy fans.

This is the first book in A Sassy Cat mystery by Jennifer J. Chow

This was a stunner of a new series by Chow. Since I am allergic to animals, reading about them is probably one of the few ways I can indulge my secret love of God's furry creatures.

I really enjoyed the gimmick of this book and thought it was done very well. Mimi Lee can hear her cat Marshmallow through a sort of psychic connection. He became like her sidekick through all the danger and mayhem.

This book centered around animals

This was a light, sweet book to read. I love cozy mysteries and love to read them, especially after reading a gripping, heart pounding thriller. The star of this new series is Marshmallow the cat. I think we have all wondered exactly what our pets are thinking or saying and in this book, Marshmallow's owner, Mimi Lee, gets that chance. I have to say that Mimi's mother grated on my nerves...she was overly pushy. The "love story" with Mimi Lee's neighbor adds to the action of the book. If I am ...more

Mimi Lee and Marshmellow the cat are a really cute pair of mystery solvers! The story follows Mimi Lee, a pet groomer, and her super cute kitty Marshmellow. A little twist - the kitty can talk to Mimi and he helps her solve a murder!

The story is super cute and really that's all I can say about it. Overall there wasn't a lot of substance to it. The characters didn't have much to them. I struggled to like Mimis mother. She was overbearing and too involved in Mimis life. I found myself annoyed

Ive always been more of a cat person than a dog person, so I was happy to get an ARC of Mimi Lee Gets a Clue to read in exchange for my honest opinion. And, I found many elements of the book to enjoy. The cat, Marshmallow, is a bit of a grump, but it fits his character, and he sounds pretty much as I would imagine a cat sounding. I enjoyed his appearances a lot. And I enjoyed Mimis efforts to start her own business, which is hard at the best of times, and I cant imagine trying to do it while ...more

Thanks to investor Pixie St. James, Mimi Lee opens Hollywoof, a pet grooming service. During opening week, Mimis sister Alice brings her a cat she rescued - a solid white male that Mimi immediately names Marshmallow. Much to Mimis surprise, Marshmallow not only speaks but, in fact, comfortably converses with her. After settling her new feline pet in her apartment, Mimi goes to do her laundry and meets Josh Akana, a neighbor, and lawyer.

Her first couple of clients are dogs purchased from breeder

This is the perfect book for a quarantine. Okay, I have to admit, I was unsure at first about the talking cat. But Marshmallow ends up being one of the best characters, with awesome one-liners. Life comes at Mimi Lee fast - she's just opened her grooming shop, Hollywoof, and is trying to drum up business. She's just met Josh, a hottie who lives in her apartment complex. Her parents want her to help her sister, who's struggling at her job. Oh, and she's gotten herself involved in a murder ...more

This is an interesting cozy debut with another amateur sleuth that is Asian-American. I enjoy it when cozzi's take this route and having main character that is ethnically diverse or different in some way. Mimi Lee is the new owner of Hollywoof, a dog grooming salon, Mimi is more of a dog person then a cat person. Until she somehow ends up with Marshmallow, a big fluffy white cat, with an unusual ability, he can talk... At least to Mimi. When there is foul play involving a breeder names Russ ...more

A nice start to a new cozy series featuring in addition to our heroine Mimi- a talking cat. Well, a cat who can communicate with his owner. Marshmallow the kitty is one smart cat and he's key to getting Mimi off the suspect list when Russ, a rotten local dog breeder, is murdered. Don't worry- it never gets too woo woo or over the top but gives another perspective. This is a set up book so you get to meet Mimi, her sister, her meddling mom (enough already about finding Mimi a guy) and her sorta ...more

This is the first in the Sassy Cat Mystery series, with a likable main character, pet groomer Mimi, and her sidekick, a fluffy white Persian cat named Marshmallow. Mimi wants to expose Russ, a local Chihuahua dog breeder, for inbreeding dogs and for the unsanitary conditions of his facilities, but gets in trouble when she is a suspect for crimes involving Russ.

Written with lots of humor aimed mainly at the dog culture of LA - dog yoga or doga, dog acupuncture, dog gym, overly dressed, pampered,
