In a universe wrought with chaos and destruction, there is no more hiding in the shadows. To survive, this world needs more than just a hero. It needs a legend.
Tobias Ford, the adopted son of the President of the United States, has dedicated his life to his country and to his people. An exemplary soldier in the U.S. military, he defends his nation against the greatest danger they have ever faced- the Enlai. As the fledgling, unstable Shadow-Molder alliance struggles against Galaxius's mighty forces, humanity takes no sides, regarding any super-powered being as a threat. However, while Tobias tries so hard to honor his father and country, he makes a discovery which forces him to question everything he had ever believed in- his father, his country, and even his own identity.
No matter how hard she tries, Alia cannot remember. What was she, who were her parents? Deep down, she knows something is missing. She can feel it every time she closes her eyes, and she can see it in her dreams. A door, locked deep within her consciousness. A past, distant, yet not forgotten. And a darkness, struggling desperately to break free.
My name is Noah Michael, and I am the author of the Chronicles of the Enlai series. I have two undergraduate degrees in bio-medical engineering and the medical sciences, and am currently a student in medical school. I am all about following your dreams, and so despite my busy schedule, I never gave up my hobbies which include writing, music, and traveling. Aside from my current series, I have two other worlds in my head just waiting to be built, and I can't wait to share them with you! Please don't hesitate to reach out and share your dreams with me as well, and I hope you enjoy reading mine!
In The Legend of Solis, the story continues from The Nexus Mirror, but the protagonists shift. Not that we don't see some of our favorite characters from The Nexus Mirror, it's just that the story doesn't focus on them. We're introduced to a new character, a very likeable character named Tobias Ford. This new character starts off as a soldier in the United States military, which has begun a campaign to hunt down the Enlai. As the story progresses, we find out that Tobias is a very powerful Enlai, and he switches sides.
I may not have enjoyed it as much if I hadn't read The Nexus Mirror, so I definitely recommend reading that first. I'm giving it 5 stars, as anyone who enjoys reading about superpowered beings will really enjoy this book.
The legend of solis is the second young adult book from the fantasy series Chronicles of the Enlai.
Here is the link for book one review
The story revolves around Tobias Ford, who is the adopted son of the President of the United States. He is a well-known soldier who saved the Americans from evil Enlai. However, as Tobias discovers a few truths about his father and his country, he realizes that not all of his actions were veracious.
Even though the story was a sequel to the first book, the protagonist was not. The reader still gets to see the old characters; however, new ones are introduced, and the storyline branched from there. While the second book had a separate plot and storyline, I would still recommend the reader, to begin with, book one.
The literature and its descriptive writing made the book so fascinating. It felt as if I was watching a movie even though I was reading it. I believe the author was more influential in his second book as the characters had more bondable personalities, relationships, and altogether there was an element of fun that triggered the enjoyed of the reading.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read fantasy stories.
First, I strongly advise reading the first book in the series, The Nexus Mirror, before reading The Legend of Solis. Many of the characters and events are connected. I fear readers will be lost if they try to jump into the series at this point. It is definitely worth the time to go back and read the first book!
As with the first novel, Mr. Michael has chosen to tell the story from multiple viewpoints. Again, this works very well to show the story unfolding in different places from different characters’ viewpoints before bringing it all together at the end. All the transitions are clearly marked and never confusing.
This installment also introduces quite a few new characters. I still had the opportunity to catch up with characters from The Nexus Mirror, but I’ll admit I was hoping to see more of my favorites. I would have liked to spend more time following Yuran in particular. His story was quite compelling in the first book, and he became one of my favorite characters. While I did get to spend some time reading about Yuran in this book, his chapters had a bittersweet feeling to them this time around.
It is great to see the Enlai working together. They have spent so much time fighting each other in the past, but now is the time to put aside their differences. They will need to work together to face a threat greater than anything they’ve ever seen. I must warn readers sensitive to violence that this book does contain graphic violence, a lot of fighting, and large battle scenes. The fate of main characters never feels secure. I admit I teared up a time or two as I read!
I’m glad I had the opportunity to continue reading this series. The ending of this novel is very satisfying, but the story is far from over. There are still evil forces at work that have yet to reveal themselves. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
