Diaper changing. Midnight feedings. Helping the new Mommy feel comfortable.
Life after baby can seem unnatural, exhausting, and confusing for dads. This book is the perfect primer for panicked Papas. Written in an easy-to-read format and accessible tone, new dads can finally feel at ease as they: With quick, issue-specific relief like this, new dads can enjoy the first year with a happy and healthy baby--and become the dad they always wanted to be.
Received this book as a gift from my husband's father & stepmother. Nothing stood out as particulary bad, and quite a bit was very good, practical, and down-to-earth, for both dads and moms. It was published in 2009 -- earlier this year -- and only one thing directly contradicted something I've heard in the last year (recommended carseat placement). I want to double-check that against other sources. Otherwise, definitely recommend to anyone with or planning to have kids.
This book is likely the ideal book for a new father who is not much of a reader but wants to get some knowledge under his belt to help prepare to be a father. It is basically 150 touchpoints in easy to understand, clearly written, straight to the point nuggets of help. I did not find too many 'tricks' in the book but what was given was fairly consistent with what I have found in other books and in classes. It is written from a pediatrician, so you can have confidence in much of what is given.
