There is no other creature more dangerous than a man. Perhaps, this book is proof enough that those who are capable of buliding countries are often responsible for bringing them down. Albeit people in the olden days were generous and kind hearted, our actions have significantly deteriorated over the years. It is often due to humans that both the environment as well as the surrounding animals are facing severe distress. In this book of short stories, Mr Sachdeva

In our everyday life, we came across many beliefs that are stereotypical in nature. And we are mindlessly accepting the rules that has been followed from almost a decade. Although at some times, we do realise the absurdness of those socially-made set of regulations, but then also nobody has the time to dig deeper into the origin of such beliefs, nobody cares to question the significance of walking on the same path rather than trying the alternate one. Isn't it ironical that we frequently ask for ...more

The author has commendably marked his effort in voicing those innumerable emotions and activities, which in their frequency of occurrence, overshadowed morally good with negligence and uncertainty.
From financial, religious imbalance to emotional absence; all widespread in us, around us, and how over a period of time this imbalance, this absence is serving as the new normal. As if, we were always this way.
The stories run short, carrying with them a powerful message. The narrative is reader

STORIES OF US The Common Man Changing Perceptions by Bobby Sachdeva are a collection of incidents and events in the lives of the common man, the family next door or the poor kid you see on the footpath. These stories unearth the simple truths of life and try to find kindness, humanity, love and integrity in people.

A few of the stories really stand out for their brutal truth. They will shake you since they are just plain truths. The language is simple, flows well with the

We all dream and envision a life filled with happiness, success and in our attempt to achieve the impossible we toil day and night. This renders us powerless and has reduced us to mere puppets in the hands of those who control us; loved ones, family, society, bosses etc. We are so embroiled in managing, meeting and setting expectations that we choose to ignore or rather have become oblivious to what is happening around us. The pursuit of achieving our goals has alienated us from our ...more

Bobby Sachdevas Stories of Us is a collection of stories that are overtly ordinary, but are embedded with deep, underlying thoughts. The stories are weaved around our day to day settings. The characters are easy to relate. At many junctures, you feel this is exactly the way I had thought when I came across such a situation. This is the success of the author. The protagonists of the stories are from various walks of life. That helps us understand different perspectives and enriches us.

Some of these stories are so powerful and touch you deeply and leaves you questioning. From social issues to gender issues to cultural issues to an extent even political issues, the author aptly observes and presents to you a piece of the Indian society.
What's the most beautiful about this book is that it has something for everyone. Apart from that, it's a quick read from one story to another and you end up finishing it earlier than you'd like. But it's a powerful and impactful read,

Bunch of stories that demands all of us to be aware of the issues and the dark underbelly of the society.
Things have changed and I think its high time people begin to raise their voice against unjust laws and abominable practises.
This society tends to be so merciless at times and no wonder, so many of them are socially awkward.
Stories of us analysis all of the inhumane behaviour, baseless stereotypes and makes us reflect on it. At the end of every story, you are left with a question that bothers

I like the unbiased narration of every story followed by a couple of questions.
