There was nothing but a much of talk and how wonderful this diet was. The diet and food preparation is overwhelming. I don't know who has not much time to prepare all that food with the juicer and blender but by the time you got it all mixed and made up, I would be too tired to eat it. There were a couple of soup recipes that did look promising.
The science behind it is interesting but the cleanse is common sense- limit sugars caffeine and alchohol and eat lots of green leafy vegetables- and too much juicing!
Ross Bridgeford is in the process of changing my digestion, taste, metabolism, etc. Imagine after a week, not even wanting sugary foods. Imagine turning them away. Imagine craving greens. It happens so assuredly that I even tried to retrieve my sweet tooth. But, it might be gone forever. See me in the Fall when the weather cools. Things might be different when I don't also have my CSA delivering amazing kale and lettuce in abundance each week.
I read this book looking to understand why the alkaline diet is good for you and Ross explained everything very clearly. I don’t have any underlying health issues but my husband does, so I was reading this to find out whether I could do a cleanse with him to help both of us get healthier. I haven’t done the cleanse yet, but I took a few of his principles into my daily routine and I can see a difference in my body. I had already quit sugar and gluten when I started reading, but after reading, I started drinking ginger and turmeric and lemon tea first thing in the morning after a glass or two of lemon water. Then I have a green juice as well before breakfast. I’ve incorporated more vegetables into our meals as well. The change I have seen is mainly in my urine and stool over the course of a month. I can see that my body, as a result of the changes, has been detoxing and now is processing less toxins.
You can say that the things Ross teaches is common sense. But he explains the reason for doing those things quite clearly. I have definitely made some lifestyle changes as a result of this book.
I often enjoy reading books about health and ways to improve your health. The book was okay. I like some of the recipes, but I don’t think I have the patience to prep myself for a cleanse. I don’t think I eat that many things that are bad for me (bread maybe because I love bread), but I think if I were to just rid myself of certain things for a week and then do this cleanse, but maybe utilizing parts of it - it could help me. The other part is that there are way too many parts to it. When looking for a cleanse for dieting - I would rather find something short and simplistic not long and dragging on. This book dragged on. I could not wait to get to the end so I could just get to the end result.
This book will transform the way you think about food. It is so clear and straightforward to follow. All the research has been done, there are numerous recipes and shopping lists to help. I have been following the alkaline 'diet' for a week now and feel so much better and have lots more energy.
I ordered this book because i suffer from acid reflux. It is full of helpful information, tools, and recipes for helping to get acidity in the body under control. I love that he lays out a detailed plan that is gradual and methodical to accomplish a reset, as well as helpful tips on how to make small changes to your habits to accomplish a healthier digestive system.
Absolutely life changing. My health is revolutionized! Since the cleanse, I’ve tweaked the spices in some of these recipes to suit my own palate, but the foundation of alkaline eating and daily juices is with me for good!
I appreciate the details about the benefits of everything found in the cleanse, which is given at the end of the book. I actually know what happens when I eat something, I don't just blindly follow a diet. I will definitely come back to this book, to refresh the knowledge.
