Dove's plan is to fix up her Grandad's place, sell it and get back to the city, what she doesn't expect is a hot and mysterious cowboy looking after the horses. I really liked Dove and Burley (not so much a fan of his name though) and how with being removed from the city Dove starts to see how nice and peaceful the country is along with building something with Burley and how he starts to see life doesn't have to be all dark and dreary. There is attraction, secrets, self discovery, seamy scenes and finding love in this book but it isn't smooth ailing and at times you think it will get too much for one of them and how they feel about each other isn't enough to keep them together. I would have liked to have learnt a bit more of a back story about both of them sooner in the book as it took a bit longer to connect with them.

I really enjoyed this mountain man romance with good characters, lots of steam, and a man in need of a second chance in life. Dove comes to her grandfather’s horse ranch after he passes away and meets Burly, a man who used to work for her grandfather. There is a connection from the start but Dove doesn’t plan to stay and Burly has a secret that makes him feel like he wouldn’t deserve a chance with her. Birthing a horse brings these two together and feelings begin to develop. What will Dove think of his secret? Will Burly be able to convince her to stay at the ranch with him? This is a good story and I definitely recommend reading it!

Burley’s past haunts him and has made him an outcast. Dove’s presence lightens his world and offers a ray of hope to his solitary existence. . Can he convince her to stay instead of returning to the city?

This story begins with one of my deepest fantasies: An out of the blue inheritance. And not just any, but a horse farm. The two main characters take turns center stage. Dove, the skinny jeans wearing, NYC girl sometimes plays lead. Alternating chapters focus on Burley, a smoldering farm hand who is handy in every way. Burley has a truck and a past. I loved the background of the farm and the animals. Working through your fears is a theme that I really love to read, and Dove and Burley help each other along the way. Hot Chocolate just got hotter! Five stars!!!!

Short but sexy

Decided to give this one a shot and glad I did. The story is fast paced and lets you in the minds of the characters without giving away everything too quickly (and without bogging you down in backstory). Super fun and sexy story. (The sex scenes are crazy steamy). And loved how the epilogue sets up Book 2 which I will definitely be reading!

Spicy!

Redemption has all the elements I like in a steamy romance: the troubled leading man, the conflicted female lead, the “will the or won’t they” tease, not to mention a rural setting complete with horses. If you’re in the mood for an easy read with spice, this is the book for you.

This book draws you in right from the get go. I loved it from front to back! More than you expected from a romance. Plus, it's set on a horse ranch! I can't wait until the next book!

I tried to give this 3 stars because I really like the author, however two major plot points made this a story I didn't like. 1) nobody flagged child death as a trigger warning and that's probably because it's a major spoiler, but for me it would have been appreciated. What made it too much was going into detail about the death. I found that entirely too much for me. 2) the H is worried the h will be mad/hate him for it. Yeah, I am. I'm upset that he suffered zero consequences because he was a cop and elected to resign. The whole thing screamed white privilege and pissed me off.

A minor quibble and one I'd otherwise overlook was the h road a horse for the very first time a fairly long time and not only was she not at all sore, she was good to go for more sex. Really?! I laughed at that. A lot.

I'd have liked the story a lot more if the redemption arc had included some actual consequences. Also I hope trigger warnings are considered in the future.

Story line is great, and I loved the characters. I really enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it! Unexpected twists and turns had me reading this book in one sitting. Great storyline and character development made this book a hot and enjoyable read!

Romance in the Mountains

Really enjoyed the story and the romance. I thought the lovemaking language was coarse but the characters and plots were thoroughly enjoyable.
