"The Most Amazing Harvest" was a bit of a phenomenon for a while...It was spread across the world.

The news of the Most Amazing Harvest spread across the nation - of how a community rallied behind one of their own and took care of the sick farmer in his time of need.

This little book is the true story of the man behind the story - from his childhood shenanigans to his teenage troubles to settling down with the love of his life - Pam Bates.

Carl Bates led a fulfilling life - with his kids, his work and his marriage. He was always the first to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and volunteer for his community.

There were so many fun anecdotes in the story scattered in this book but his life was far from easy.

The book also covered tragedies that Carl lived through.

"Cancer is never an easy diagnosis to hear, especially twice in your life."

But he never lost his sense of humor.

"Carl thought it was quite funny to cough, choke, close his eyes, and slump over while they were doing the treatment. Pam was not amused..."

Overall, this was such a touching and sweet story.

I hadn't heard of the story before the book but it was so cool to google it when I was waiting for the book to come in.

The way the farming community rallied around him and helped him when he was unable to complete his harvest - it was truly heartwarming.

The authors, Pam Bates and Paula Patty (twin sisters, with Pam being married to Carl) really did justice to this life story.

Carl's life story was enjoyable to read - he led such an interesting life and all the little stories were so fun!

I was so saddened by the end, because while I knew what was going to happen...it still felt like a punch to the gut when it did.

This was the powerful and moving story of a man who is ordinary in every way, but through adversity becomes the hero that we are all looking for. The Most Amazing Harvest is a rich witness to the power of faith and resiliency.
The story of Carl Bates is told in a delightful way by his guardian angel, Gus. From a rambunctious child to a farming family man, he filled his life with people who he loved and who loved him. His life was a celebration of the blessings that God had given him. He did it his way and the book masterfully tells that story along with the story of the amazing harvest; a gift from those who loved him.
I want to thank the authors, Pam and Paula, for the opportunity to read this story. I highly recommend this book for anyone who needs to feel a touch of God's goodness, which is pretty much everyone now a days.

Very uplifting true story about a small town farmer and the way the whole town came together to help in his time of need. One of the real advantages of living in a small town!
