This book oozes postivity and self love and let me tell you.. YA .GIRL. IS. HERE. FOR. IT! This book has so much to offer its readers EVEN if witchery on any level isnt your thing. I am going to be as transparent as possible and say that when I picked up this book I had no clue what kitchen witchery even was. A Kitchen Witch is a Witch who focuses their magical practice on the home and uses things commonly found in the kitchen as magickal tools.

A Kitchen Witch's Guide to Recipes for Love & Romance offers its readers the chance to learn and practice kitchen witchery in order to attract and renew love. It is also a gorgeous recipe book, the photos included are breathtaking. Most of the recipes are simple but delicious and focus around love of self and others. It shows how to cook using ingredients that have energetic properties and speaks of their associations with love, sex, and romance. It also teaches the importance of positive intentions and visualization.

This guide is heavily rooted in Paganism but I hope that doesnt limit those who choose to read it. Even myself as a Christian, I found this book to be inspirtational and thought- provoking. The idea of putting a little of ourselves and positivity and light into all that we do , I think is a concept that many can benefit from.

On another side Dawn Aurora Hunt is simply just a damn good writer. Her personality just spills from the pages. I found myself laughing at her anecdotes frequently. I honestly cannot wait to read more works from her in the future.

This review originally appeared on The Magical Buffet's website on 10/12/2020.

What can I say? I love food. I also happen to love Dawn Aurora Hunt, owner of Cucina Aurora, purveyor of fine olive oils and other treats. When I found out that she had a cookbook coming out, I literally tracked down the publisher and emailed them out of the blue asking for a copy. And they delivered, thanks Tiller Press! I expected a standard cookbook from “A Kitchen Witch’s Guide to Recipes for Love & Romance,” typical aphrodisiac type stuff, but it is a whole lot more.

“A Kitchen Witch’s Guide to Recipes for Love & Romance” is an amazing exploration of love, food, and the author’s journey with both. The book is divided into 3 parts: Self-Love, Attracting Love, and Rekindling the Fires. All of this covers such topics as honesty, self-care, building friendship, dating, attracting romance, and more. Of course, along with all of that are recipes ranging from beginner to advanced. And you know what happens now, don’t you? I tell you about the recipe I tried!

I went with something easy and delicious sounding, Lemon Ginger Tonic. “This tonic with purifying lemon, heart-warming cinnamon, and lively ginger will you with warmth and healing energy. With each sip, envision negativity and hurt melting away.”

This recipe was super simple and amazing tasting! Seriously, a winter addiction may be at hand because this tastes like the best mulled cider you ever had in your life…. without the cider! Take ingredients and dump them in a glass, then top with boiling water! I had a killer headache when I made this and hand to god, this with a couple of ibuprofens mellowed me right out and I slept like a baby that night.

Owning a copy of “A Kitchen Witch’s Guide to Recipes for Love & Romance” by Dawn Aurora Hunt is a guarantee of experiencing a life with more love and delicious food.

This book was received as an ARC from Tiller Press in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

I was intrigued by this book having previewed four books that focus on paganism and crystals. I am also a foodie trying to build our cookbook collection so when I stumbled on this book I knew I had to take the chance. I loved the descriptions on the importance of self love and care and the recipes that corresponded to especially the pomegranate mimosas with muddled cherries along with the Rose Red Velvet Cake to name a few. All of the recipes look delicious and I can't wait to try them for myself.

We will consider adding this title to our Cookbook collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

How often do you think about the love that our Mothers and Grandmothers put in what they cook for us? In our family I often heard “You can taste the love” at family dinners and celebrations. It comes from the ingredients and intention that they used to cook. Now you can learn to cook for your honey, friends and family with the ingredients and intent that magically infuse your meals with your own dose of love.

The recipes in the book are enticing and use everyday ingredients you may not have known hold properties to help you infuse your meals with love and/or to attract love. Whether you are married or single, you will find recipes in here for love. Easy to follow recipes and yummy goodness that is sealed with your intentions of love.

Reading A Kitchen Witch's Guide to Recipes for Love & Romance is like coming home to smell fresh tomato sauce and meatballs cooking on the stove. It's like getting a giant hug. Dawn's writing is funny and thoughtful, and you can hear the smile in her tone. Her writing challenges me over and over to be kinder to myself and to be more mindful of how I show my care for those I love most. Each story feels like I could hear Dawn telling it to me over a meal at dinnertime -- and I find myself laughing out loud along with her.

"If you have ever made a pot of soup for someone who is sick, putting all the love and healthy thoughts you possibly can into this soup and knowing that it is going to make that person feel so much better, you have practiced kitchen witchery," Dawn writes. This book is endlessly accessible from whatever religious or spiritual mindset you approach it. At every turn of the page, there is another tip, or another way to take the practices Dawn advises and incorporate them into your life. The recipes are written in such a way that anyone could pick up the book and learn, and make something delicious. And with the creativity of these recipes, you are guaranteed to make something delicious.

This review could not be complete without talking about the PHOTOS and the ILLUSTRATIONS!! Holy shit! I opened my book to a photograph of fresh tomato bruschetta, the thick slices of toast covered in bright chopped tomatoes and fresh basil and garlic. A carafe of olive oil sits beside bright green basil in the photo, and I swear, I could smell that basil right out of the book. On another page, I want to stick my finger into the pot of "Citrus Earl Grey Marmalade" (how creative is that??!), but I guess I'll just have to try the recipe for myself! And the illustrations! Wow!! You can see from the cover of the book just a tiny glimpse of the visual treat that this book has in store for you. I'd like to get nearly every illustration framed for my kitchen, please.

Whether you are a long-practicing witch or more of a normie like myself, this book is rich in delightful stories, creative ideas, incredible recipes, and (literally) food for thought. This book is exactly what I need to fill my heart back up with love so I can share some wonderful food with all those I love.

Three of my favorite things all in one book - love, food, and magic. There isn’t much that I love more than Love. It’s the energy that binds us - it’s romance, it’s kindness, it’s nature and nurture. Well, I guess there is at least one more thing ... because I love good food!

I really enjoyed how the book focuses on different types of Love (self love, romance, friendship and bonding, etc) and suggests how to tap into each type by using specific foods with specific intentions (this is the magic at work).

The pictures are so good and I have many pages already marked for the recipes I want to try. That Apple Fig compote has my name on it!

I will admit that I own a cabinet full of Cucina Aurora infused oils and it was because I was going to place a reorder of some items online that I even learned about this book. I’m so glad I found it, though. This isn’t a sponsored review, I’m just a super fan of everything Dawn does.

Would highly recommend.

Seafood Risotto. Four-Cheese Baked Macaroni.Spicy Sweet Potato Poutine.

This and many other delicious recipes can be found in this perfectly sized book. Add in a bit of explanation on the power of food, great pictures, easy to follow directions, recipes that don't require a ton of crazy ingredients and a little bit of magic....and you have the perfect recipe for an cookbook that is both delicious to cook out of and enjoyable to read.

Kitchen witch or not-highly recommended!

Fabulous recipes and anecdotes about love and food. Emphasis on the earth and natural remedies, as opposed to witchcraft, as the title may imply. The tikka masala recipe was simple enough for weekday cooking, but delicious enough to serve to company! I can’t wait to try more recipes— the cheesecake stood out as a “need to try!” Five stars!!!!

You may be thinking, “Why the hell are you reviewing a cook book?” Well, it’s not really just a cook book.
There are a lot of really cool things in here about loving yourself, others, and imbuing intension into everything you do. I liked it and I got some cool recipes and spell-work out of it as well as a stronger sense of how I want to live my life intentionally.

I picked this up because I happened to see it at the library and have been learning about being a kitchen witch. Dawn organizes this book so we'll and includes excellent explanations, anecdotes, and information. I have not tried many of her recipes or rituals, but I enjoyed the few I have. I also appreciate that the book starts with a focus on loving the self.

A Kitchen Witch's Guide to Recipes for Love & Romance: Loving You * Attracting Love * Rekindling the Flames by Dawn Aurora Hunt
Publisher: Tiller Press
Genre: Religion & Spirituality
Release Date: October 7, 2020

A Kitchen Witch's Guide to Recipes for Love & Romance by Dawn Aurora Hunt is a recipe book for foods and drinks to increase love in your life.

The book is broken in to three parts: Part 1 - Self-Love, Part 2 - Attracting Love, and Part 3 - Rekindling the Fires.

I found the emphasis placed on loving oneself first so important. I didn't expect this to have some self-help wisdom thrown in here too!

There are some very interesting recipes throughout the book, with information on how the ingredients helps and the magic within the highlighted ingredients.

I look forward to trying some of the recipes, like all of the chocolate recipes, the Pomegranate Mimosas with Muddled Raspberries, Four-Cheese Baked Macaroni, Banana Bread, and Sweetheart Swirl Cheesecake.

It starts with you.

I'm so grateful to Dawn Aurora Hunt, Tiller Press, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.
