Crimson was my first read from Sophie Lark and definitely won't be my last! I enjoyed reading about the developing romance and attraction between the MCs Nadia and Nik.

The story began a little choppy but slowly became an easier read as the characters began to find their stride. Being labelled as a 'dark mafia romance' I had been expecting a lot more depth in the detail and violence associated with 'issues' present in the book however this wasn't so. Normally this would have disappointed me as I

Crimson: A Dark Mafia Romance is part of the colors of Crime series. It can be read as a stand alone novel as their aren't any spoilers that I could see. However, this is the first book I've read by this author so take that with a grain of salt.

I enjoyed this novel a lot. I was intrigued by the mystery in her mother's novel as well as the whirlwind romance developing in the main characters life. The book had a rough start, but once the story got moving, it was a smoother read. The writing was

But a diary left behind, undisturbed in an attic until now, just raises more questions for Nadia as she painstakingly translates it in a quest to understand the elusive and detached mother she had grown up with and regretted not being closer to. This is by far by favourite book in this series! All my precious frustrations from the first three books have been corrected when it comes to this story.
Even though this book is still being told in 3rd person, I felt a lot more connected to Nadia and Nikolai than I the couples in the other books. I got more of a sense of how they felt and transformed over the course of the book which made their love story so much more believable for me.

We get to see Nadia understand the younger version of her

Loved this dark twisted tale.

OMG, my mind is blown!!! This is an intriguing, twisted mafia tale of love, loss and betrayal. The characters are wonderful and I couldn't put this book down once I started reading it. After Nadia's mother dies she finds a journal of her mother's from when she was still living in Moscow. Nadia decides to go to Moscow to try to solve the mystery of her mother's words in the journal. Crimson by Sophie Lark
This story continues the saga of the Turgenev family. This time the story focuses on Nadia after the death of her mother, Samara. Nadia returns to Moscow, her mother’s roots and childhood home, to translate a journal found after her death. The story plays out much like a story out of Shakespeare – that, of course, being the Montague’s and the Capulet’s. As Nadia wanes of her boyfriend Maxim’s juvenile behavior, she becomes entranced by Nikolai Markov, whose family is devout

While Nadia is on a journey to discover who her mother really was, she winds up learning more about herself along with what love is like. Or so she thinks since Nikolai has more than one thing keeping him interested.
While this says it's a dark read, I did not think so. It did have a slight kink but not much to label it into a certain category. I wish there was more to the ending but maybe that is something that comes in other books.

What a nice story! Nikolai and Nadia make a great couple. The book has a great love story unfolding while wrapping a mystery in. Nadia finds out a lot about her family after venturing to Russia after her mother died. There she meets Nikolai and sparks fly. Great overall story.

The stories in this series have become better and better each time. I'm utterly shaking and in love with Nadia and Nikolai's love story. It was so painful and yet so beautiful to read about the story of their families and how it affected them so acutely. I just couldn't put the book down or read it fast enough. A beautiful must-read.

Nadia is a mafia princess and decides to go to Russia to solve a mystery in her mother’s journal. Nikolai is the heir to her families rival but to secure his family’s fortune, he must marry Nadia. Their families have been enemies for centuries. Will they find a way to end the feud? Fast-paced read with lots of drama, chemistry and steam. I wouldn’t consider this a dark mafia read but I did enjoy the story. A good read.

Nikolai was a businessman in Russia who did legal business and sometimes had to black market business dealing with guns. Nikolai was not a bad person and to Nadia he was the most gorgeous man she had ever saw, especially surprising, since he was Russian. Nadia went to Russia after her mother died because she was trying to understand her and she had found a journal in the things that her mother had left at her Aunt Galina's house. She really didn't think she wanted any of her mother's things but ...more

This book has it all: mystery, romance, suspense, feuding Russian Bratva/Mafia families, hot sex, terrific and believable characters, and its author knows how to craft a fabulous tale that you don't want to put down for a minute! She sets the background in the intriguing world of the Russian mob and the hierarchy of elite families within that organization. She introduces the reader to the princesses and princes, who from birth have known nothing but wealth and excess privileges beyond ...more

A great experience. I have read two other books from this author and this one didn't disappoint either. This is a book of very high standards, not the ‘wanna-be’ writer style but one that can easily be called modern literature. All the characters were developed and described so well, they were practically leaping off the pages. The storyline was novel and imaginative. I nearly didn't sign up for it because I am not a Russian Mafia topic devotee. Before this book, I hardly knew the word Bratva. I ...more

I received this as an advanced reading copy for an honest review.

I was a little ambivalent when I decided to sign up for this book. I was hoping for a good book but was a little worried. It turned out to be fantastic. I really liked the story and the pairing and the characters. Nadia is a Mafia princess in the Russian Mafia. Nik is the son of a family that has been feuding with her maternal side of her family for a couple hundred years. I didn't really know that the Mafia of any type has been

Crimson is the fourth book in this series and can be read as a stand-alone novel, though I recommend reading the pervious book where we first met Nadia and witness the murder of her mother.

Nadia was a great supporting character in Violet, so I was glad to see that she was getting her own book and leaving Maxim in the dust. I loved the adventure and suspense that we were taken on as Nadia discovers more about her life through her mother’s journal. The attraction and chemistry between Nikolai and

This is an intriguing somewhat dark mafia romance that has a slow-burn love story to it & I absolutely enjoyed reading it. The well-paced plot is well-written & keeps the reader’s attention with some unexpected surprises. The main characters are well-developed although some of them are realistically emotional flawed & exhibit devious intentions in order to get their goals while another character tries to adjust in a new & unfamiliar world filled with secrets.

Love story, yes. Mafia, meh.

The book is difficult to review without at least a little spoiler glimpse...
The book is well written with no editing or continuity issues. However, the pace of the story was slow and at times I had to put the book to one side and read something else before continuing. This was due to the average love story between the H and h. I did not feel the characters were developing throughout the story. The heat level between the two were a simmer at most. What made the book

Nadia was trapped in a loveless relationship but complacent when Nikolai spotted her at his family’s lavish party. Her desire to connect with her mother’s past was spurred on by finding her journal/diary after her death.
This enemies to lovers, Romeo/Juliet, star crossed lovers theme had a bit of a twist as Nikolai was commanded by his father to seduce Nadia to ruin her relationship with her fiancé Maxim.

Crimson is the fourth book in the Colors of Crime series by Sophie Lark and the first book I have read by this author. I was not sure what to expect but the book description looked like it could be really delicious and smoldering. Boy were my instincts right to a certain extent.
