You just have to hate Elizabeth. I didn't particularly like Zack either. I felt 20 years was too long for the main character to have to wait for Zack to come back. She could have gotten married at least.

This book frustrated me to no end. These characters put themselves through emotional torture for 20 years over something that could have been rectified by a simple conversation. Elizabeth was right- if Rumer and Zeb were truly meant to be together, then why would her simple flirting tear them apart? Why didn't Rumer talk to Zeb, or try to stop the wedding? I simply don't understand her lack of drive or her logic, especially when she knew that Elizabeth was only marrying Zeb so Rumer couldn't hav ...more

This was a lovely story about two childhood friends, Zeb Mayhew and Rumer Larkin. They spend every minute of their summers together at Hubbard's Point. Zeb is into star gazing and Rumer cares for injured animals. Rumer has always thought that she and Zeb would someday marry. However, she is crushed when Zeb marries her older sister Elizabeth. Eventually, years later Zeb and Elizabeth divorce. Zeb and his 17 year old son Michael return to Hubbard's Point for a local wedding. Zeb realizes the mist ...more

Good story and I like Luanne Rice but she repeats too much. I felt like she went over and over the same thing to many times. The book could have been 50 pages shorter! The relationship between the sisters was pretty true to life though and I related to it. Her characters are lovable. It's not a life changer but a good pass the time read.

Back to Hubbard's Cove and on to the next generation. Rumer has stayed and opened a veterinary practice. Elisabeth's off to Hollywood and a successful acting career. Zeb has returned for the summer with his teenage son, Michael. Disaster and happiness await.

Zeb and Rumer were inseparable as children and everyone thought they'd marry. As did Rumer. Due to unfortunate misunderstandings, missed opportunities and just downright meanness on some levels, Zeb is seduced by Rumer's sister and marries he

Overall, I really liked the characters, but I have some mixed feelings about this book. I loved the concept of the two sisters/boy-next-door theme and the Michael/Quinn romance. I did get bogged down at times by what I thought were unnecessary descriptions and explanations, the references to unicorns and mermaids, and I didn't like the cursing used quite frequently by a few characters (mostly the old men). One thing that confused me was when Michael was suddenly called Colin in several paragraph ...more

“You fall in love with the girl next door but married her sister.”

Once again, Luanne Rice had captured my heart. I can rely to Rice whenever my nature-side's kicking and my love for romance is jumping. She's stringing words, simple, beautiful words, creating one amazing book.
This book is about two people, childhood best friends. I have always find best friends falling in love a cute and touching story. After all those time, one of them maybe torn between her/his true feelings and preserving t

True Blue by Luanne Rice
I love all of the authors other books and don't recall having read this, nor had I ever left a review so am reading it.
Starts out at Hubbard Point where Elizabeth and Rumor are raised on the water by their parents. The mother dies and the father continues strongly on with the task.
Rumor likes the boy next door Zeb and we learn of the escapades they go through over the years that draw them closer. Elizabeth ends up marrying him and they all move out to the west coast and h

While I immensely enjoyed the author's writing and was able to actually enjoy a few parts of the story (hence the two stars instead of one) I couldn't get passed the horrible sister! And the jerk, Zeb. And honestly, Rumer, too. Maybe some people liked the characters, but I did not. Unfortunately, it completely ruined it for me. I will say though that I enjoyed the author's writing style so much that I'm willing to try another of her books.

Another fantastic read. Childhood friends/sweethearts separated by the ultimate betrayal. Hubbard's Point is a very cozy, quaint beach town full of memories, lifelong friends and family. A wedding brings everyone home and the story begins again.....a story of true love, family, deciept; if it's meant to be, it's meant to be. Heartwarming story of sisters and making things right. Loved this book. I would move to Hubbard Point if I could.

" Schoolteacher Rumer Larkin never felt the need to stray from Hubbard's Point. Rich with legends of seafaring spirits and lost treasures, the rustic village echoes with the memories of Rumer's past -- even after those she loved have left. Many summers after Zeb Mayhew broke her heart, he returns with his teenage son, and Rumer knows her quiet life will never be the same again.

Zeb has come back hoping to reconnect with his son, with the past and all its mistakes. Suddenly facing Rumer aga

I'm not one who likes to give up on a series, but I am struggling with this one. The stories are okay, but they are getting a little to far out therefor my taste. I find myself skipping several pages hurrying to get through. I will probably finish the series because they are Still tolerable for me at this point.

I agree and disagree with some of the other reviews on this book. I don't consider the relationship between the Rumer and Zeb to be incestuous, not even as she pines for Zeb from afar after he marries her sister, Elizabeth, and fathers a child with her. (I was actually hoping for a plot twist that said Elizabeth had cheated on Zeb and he wasn't the real father, but that didn't happen.) I DID, however, agree that the years of strife after a simple misunderstanding could have been cleared up with ...more

I enjoy Luanne as a writer, she has an amazing way of weaving family, love, betrayal, romance and fun into every novel. This however was not one of my favorite books, still a good read!

This is now the fourth book that I have read from this author and probably my least favorite of the four (Follow the Stars Home, The Perfect Summer, and Summer Light). I enjoyed that some of the characters from the other books made appearances in this one. However, it wasn't too hard to figure out all of the secrets before they were revealed and I found myself losing interest about 3/4 of the way through. Anyway, I finished the book and still liked it, but I guess it didn't entertain as much as ...more

True Blue is the first romance book I've read, expanding my horizons and all that. It wasn't quite what I was expecting but I was not disappointed. Aside from repeating herself a little to much and using overly long descriptions the author does a pretty good job with this book. I found most of the minor characters more interesting than Zeb or Rumer, witch is saying something sense I didn't dislike either of them.

This was a deep, emotional, heart-wrenching story of love lost and refound. I was overwhelmed with every emotion as I read this story -- sadness, anger, longing, resentment, hope, fear, happiness, and so much more. Elizabeth's letter made me cry and I was left with pure joy for the future of Zeb and Rumor. I'm very glad I read this book.

This is a story of second chances. Of a sister's betrayal, and still loving her. Of life living in a rustic village where legends of the sea, spirits, and lost treasures abound. Of the boy next door being her best friend and the love that grows between them, only to be lost and then found again. Of Hubbard's Point being the home they need.

A good story about two sister - one good, one evil, the boy next door, and true love. Setting is a beautiful beach in Connecticut.

Basically the bad sister steals the good sister's true love and marries him and has a kid and then divorces him. Then one magical summer with a nice, expected and tidy ending. I liked it.
