When the lead singer of a rock band finds herself suffering blackouts, suspicion turns to her fellow band members. But Kennedy soon starts to question whether her inexplicable loss of time is sabotage, or if she’s actually losing her mind.

Hollow Stars has earned a spot in my top reads of 2019. From page one I was reeled into the story, as confused as Kennedy as to whether she was being sabotaged by a band member, or actually suffering a serious mental illness. I loved how Dyan bounced the story

Dyan completely captured the highs and lows of life as a break out rock band. Kennedy is complicated, funny, and so very relatable. I loved how the story shifted from Kennedy's memories and experiences on tour to her present struggle in a mental institution. I swung between being convinced she was having a mental breakdown and imagining everything to blaming every single one of her band members. This was hard to put down as the mystery unfolded and I became invested in Kennedy getting better and ...more

I find myself somewhat surprised at my enjoyment of this book. The writing is good; nothing that shook my sensibilities or left me sitting in wonder. The plot is intriguing: the lead singer of an emerging rock band finds herself in an institution attempting to piece together the events of her recent past that lead to her current confinement. I think the true magic of my enjoyment is the result of the plot construction. Author Lauryn Dyan tells Kennedy's story in segments that alternate between p ...more

I cannot stop thinking about this book.

Lauryn Dyan has a lot of talent in story telling. I love the way the story flows and the characters are so intense. The interest level for the characters involved just builds and builds. When I think of a awesome, rocker character, I think of Kennedy. When I think of a great book involving musicians, this one is the best one I can think of. It is on par in that subject as Stephen King's "Revival" in my mind. The characters are very decisive and the world bu

I wasn’t sure what to expect jumping into this book, but wow. It was like taking Emergen-C straight out of the packet—so flavorful, so potent! I myself have never been in a band, but I imagine Dyan flawlessly captured all of the highs and lows of band life. As we follow Kennedy through her story it’s hard not to see ourselves in her, even if we’re completely different people. Well-composed, well-written, well done!

Enjoyed this book so much! Kennedy, the main character is a strong, talented young woman learning about love, life, and the music industry. There is enough mystery and suspense to make it a page turner. I highly recommend it!

(Thanks to everyone who's up-voted my pieces and sent me tip money on the site--two of my reviews are currently popular enough to feature on the main page, which helps both me and the author!)

The rebellious lead singer of a rock band starts experiencing mysterious blackouts and suspects sabotage in this psychological thriller.

The drunken blackout: we've probably all been there. Whether intentionally or
