Between the pictures and the reportage it is evident that war is costly in so many ways, mostly on the count of millions of lives lost also the billions of dollars, Millions of pounds etc spent on fighting wars. The only winners appear to be the arms manufacturers. All the money spent on trying to be the best could have so much better spent on improving the lives of people all around the world.
It is inevitable that war will always exist but civilised countries should only take part in defensive action and never be the instigators of war. It is the saddest concept that man has ever devised.
Yet nations glory in their armies and their stocks of weapons trying to outdo each other.
Also in today's world politicians like Tony Blair and George Bush to name but two send young men to war without caring that it is real lives they are playing with into a situation that they wouldn't put themselves or their own sons into for that matter.
Sending people to their deaths, then glorifying the soldiers by giving them bits of metal as a trade for their lives and having parades and commemorations to make everything seem alright. What in some respects is sadder is the mindset soldiers have of Hey I've had my legs blown off but I have a medal to show for it.
"Those that fail to learn from history, are doomed to repeat it."
Winston Churchill, and it is the innocent who suffer most.
Give Peace a chance - John Lennon.

A hard to find gem. Pictures share what words could never convey. I reopen it regularly. “Mans most terrible adventure”.
