There were things about this story that didn’t make much sense to me. If the Routine has been in charge for over 200 years, why is there any kind of a need for a military? Why would Gael be trained for it? And is Owen supposed to also be trained similarly? Owen very clearly feared his reactions to Gael, so I don’t really understand the Routine’s explanation of why Serendipity was no longer effective for him - I would have liked there to have been more of foreshadowing on that part.

A different Sci-Fi romance
Owen is selected for service to the artificial intelligence that rules the planet. Gael is also. The meet at selection and need to peel back the layers of lies to understand why they were selected and what they need to do. A fun sci-fi romance.
It does end abruptly, so look for the next installment in the series.

Not the simple romance I was expecting, but I enjoyed it. The mystery in the world building was intriguing, it has kind of a Logan’s Run vibe more than a dystopia. Really happy to see harder sci-fi married with mm romance like this. You can tell it’s a trilogy story but the plot in this first book is completely satisfying on its own. Looking forward to reading more.
