A Beautiful introduction to the Misfits of Bath!

'The Merry Misfits of Bath' tells the story of three women, Addie, Charlotte, Pamela who all turn their backs on London and the husband hunt and who took up residency in the lovely town of Bath. I really enjoyed the hero Grayson and I liked the well planned plot. This is a book that you won’t want to put down. If you love Regency romance, then you are in for a treat! Nicely written by Callie Hutton, her characters are simply endearing and

Mostly 1886 in Bath, England. This story was 'close
but no banana.'

Addie had 6 unsuccessful London seasons. And word
blindness (dyslexia). She convinced her parents (dad
was 3rd son of an Earl) to allow her to use her dowry
to become a Bath bookseller.

Grayson, a widowed Earl, had a 4 year old deaf son
Michael, who many assumed an imbecile. He sought
a sign-language book in Addie's shop. And later a
sign language tutor for his son.

I liked this couple. But certain elements made me
less a fan as

The first book on the Merry Misfits of Bath.

Wonderful introduction into the lives of at least three women from all different walks of life.

The first book is the story of Addie and Grayson, unfortunately if you are just looking for a HEA this is not for you, this book is a great read written by someone who can tell a story.

It if filled with a person suffering from dyslexia and another born deaf to say this is something of a first in historical book would be an understatement but Ms Hutton tore at

I loved every bit of Addie and Grayson 's story.
You have mystery , a strong character with a disability (Addie)that we all know how to cope with today , but wouldnt have been accepted in society in their day. A father (Grayson)who will go to all lenghts to give his son advantages regardless of his deafness.
Just a superb story that i believe we as readers can relate to.
My favorite highlight that made me laugh out loud ( literally)
"He stared at her. “That’s absurd. Why would she think you need

What an awesome beginning of The Merry Misfits of Bath, a new series by Callie Hutton. A young woman named Addie Mallory has moved from London to Bath and opened a bookstore with her dowry. She also suffers from word blindness, or now known as dyslexia. Lord Grayson Berkshire is our larger than life hero. He is a widower with a young son who is deaf. I adored their story. It was sweet and you’ll find yourself enraptured as I was. The characters were so well thought out and genuinely loveable. ...more

Can’t wait to read the entire series!

Wow. I really loved this book! I’m writing this review at 2:38AM! because I had to finish the book before I could sleep. Grayson and Addie are wonderful! Such well drawn characters, each with their own reasons for not wanting to get married. The attraction is there from the start and it keeps building. Grayson is particularly attractive as a hands-on father who loves and champions his deaf son, Michael. Addie falls in love with four year old Michael before

Addie has those parents that most young women dislike when they reach an age where marriage doesn’t look like it will happen for them. She get her own life after some pleading. Her own bookstore and house in baths. Enter Grayson. A widowed father of a four year old deaf son that he just loves and wants to find help understanding. Addie is one of the few who understand just cause he cannot hear doesn’t mean he is not intelligent. Add in some family drama and this was a great book.

A light and humorous romance

Likeable characters in a humorous, sweet romance. Adeline and Grayson have misperceptions and inaccurate beliefs about themselves but perceive each other clearly. The supporting characters are developed just enough to make Addie's and Grayson's world believable and their social encounters humorous.

Fun story with real characters some of whom have disabilities and still lead fulfilling lives. The story line was predictable, but it's the nature of the genre not to have a lot of surprises.

An absolutely unique, intriguing, curious romance that blends the emerging new science of sign language with the unfair real-life prejudice against deaf people and the ugly assumption if one cannot hear and talk that they are an imbecile. I loved the characters. Adeline/Addie at twenty-four is a confident loving person. After several failed London seasons, she has determined that she will never marry and that was the reason for her striking out on her own. She is strong minded to move out of her ...more

HEARING/READING DISABILITIES, LOVE

5 STARS for Book 1 in this fast paced series during the Regency Historical Era, is a wonderful yet distressing experience of how deaf children were thought of at this time. Also, the search for sign language teachers that was just becoming known in England at this time. Going on, Addie who was a wallflower she felt it was because of her chaos that happened due to her disability of getting directions, forward, backwards, left & right confused. Word Blind was

A wonderful story of a misfit young lady who gets another chance at love.

Callie Hutton never fails to entertain me.
This first book in the Marry Misfits of Bath is not an exception.
Grayson and Addie are a perfect fit.
Addie is a compassionate lady and her almost immediate caring and love for Grayson's young deaf son is just one example of her nature.
That their situation would lead to marriage because they were caught in a compromising situation is unthinkable.
I can hardly wait for the next book in
