Enjoy the pleasure of owning three beloved novels reissued from bestselling author Gilbert Morris. The United States' most terrible war is the backdrop for adventure, romance, and power of God to move amidst tragedy. Follow three Confederate soldiers who find that their greatest allies could be brave women who cross battle lines for the sake of faith and love. Includes: "Land of Shadow," "Out of the Whirlwind," and "The Shadow of His Wings"
Gilbert Morris was one of today's best-known Christian novelists. He lived in Gulf Shores, Alabama, with his wife, Johnnie. He is the father to Lynn Morris and Alan Morris
Enjoyable, historical, educational, and filled with so much enjoyment of two prominent Southern families and their lives during the Civil War it is one of those Novels that is hard to put down. It brought me hours of fascinating reading!
As the Civil War continues, the fourth novel of the series tells the story of Paul, the son of Marianne (Rocklin) Bristol and her husband Claude, of the Southern branch of the Rocklins. We also meet Tyler Rocklin, one of the Northern Rocklins, as well as an interesting young woman named Frankie Aimes.
In the fifth novel, as the South keeps winning battles while losing too many men, we focus on Burke Rocklin, Clay's younger brother, and meet Grace Swenson.
Then, it is in the sixth novel that the death of Stonewall Jackson is noted, which makes the South's success even less probable. We focus on several relationships in this story. The main story focuses on Lowell Rocklin, Clay's youngest son, but we also see a great deal of Rena Rocklin, Clay's only daughter and youngest child. We also meet a young lady named Rooney and get to know a young man named Josh better. In addition, we finally get to see the long awaited wedding
As is the case for every novel by Gilbert Morris that I have read, these books are well written Christian historical narrative epics about family relationships and the importance of faith in God and specifically the conversion experience. Also, the development of all of the main characters was fantastic, and in each book, at least one person receives salvation in an intense encounter with God. Overall, these novels provided a strong continuation another amazingly epic series by Gilbert Morris.
The Civil War era is one of my favorite to read. The author delivers a wonderful blend of history, romance and drama that is inspirational. This book continues to follow the Rocklins as their lives unfold in Virginia during the Civil War. Now on to Saga 3,
I want to be invited to a Rocklin family reunion! The reader can't help but fall in love with all of the characters. You mourn deaths and celebrate births. It seems as if you really get to experience the horrors of the Civil War beyond the fighting. I could read 29 books in this series!
This is a great story with wonderful characters and all the action and heartache of the civil war. A bit confusing at times, but the author brings it all together in the end. Of course there is still one more book with three smaller books within . Can't wait to get started and hate to finish.
These stories will bring tears, laughter, grief, and most of all inspiration. There are incidents about the horrors of the war pitting relatives against each other, of loss and death. But peace with God through the Lord Jesus Christ is found by those who will receive it.
Follows more members Of the family. Covers details Of the war. Well written, intriguing, easy to follow Author brings each of the three books together.
This is one of my all time favorite books and series. I've learned more about the civil war and the feelings in both the north and the south then I ever did before. I understand it much better now. The author also showed how God worked in the lives of so many different people in different situations and I felt that I learned more about Him as well. I know I highlighted more in these books than any others. This is a series you will want to buy so you can re-read it another time, and so you can loan them to others. Great books!
