While containing some light, possibly shallow, elements, I was impressed with the emotional depth this story wasn't afraid to plumb. Successfully, I think. There's a strong wish-fulfillment angle with Charlotte's (Charlie) dad. He was a successful MLB player and currently works as some kind of media guy for an MLB team. So they have money. But while he travels with the team and is thus away a lot, he cares for and about her and it's clear she has a real loving home that is above average in every ...more

Very cute YA-book! Great for in-between if you want something light and fluffy that makes you feel good.

Short, quite bland, and I found it a bit objectionable.

Essentially it was a somewhat clumsy exploration of gender dynamics, with the key message being that blonde girls in short skirts and makeup are the only 'real' girls...

Also, the drama was OTT and the romance was laughably played out, but I finished the book in literally two hours. Win!

This was a clean, adorable romance with mature teens who handled their lives like actual teenagers but were not annoying about it. I loved everyone in the book even the heroine's three obnoxious best friends, who were kind of douchey but what do you expect with teenaged boys. Also I love Jace he is absolutely adorable. I have not read YA in a long time but this was a good jump back into it.

This is not very angsty read BTW! A lot of the times I give 5-star reviews not only because the book was go

Young, Fresh and Fun

I'm so happy to see a new book from Kelly Oram! It was young, fresh and fun. Plus, baseball. I love baseball! I also love how Charlie collects people along her new path of discovery- good people who are kind and supportive. It made me want to be that kind of person too. This story was more than fluff and went a little deeper than many YA, high school books, without ever becoming bogged down or overwhelming. It was the perfect balance and I really loved it. I think my teenage
Girl at Heart was a cute book to dive into while dealing with a migraine. There was just something about getting to know Charlie and the guys that was just easy to follow and like. Yeah, some things were predictable and the drama was kind of eye-roll worthy. Yet, it was easy to devour and just kind of go with the flow of everything.

I will say that Charlie's relationship with her dad was just so freaking cute. I loved them together. Even if she came home to an empty house some times. Then there's

This book was adorable! A teenage girl is trying to find her own voice. She has been into sports her whole life. She campaigned to be added to her high school baseball team and is one of the favorites. The problem is that her graduation is approaching and she is sure she won't be picked for a college team and if she is it won't be because of her skill but her novelty. Also, her long time crush is asking another girl to the prom! None of her friends even thought to include her in their plans beca ...more
This was my gateway to this weeks (two days) of kindle spree. I´ve read about 5-6 books in two days, they were exactly entertaining enough to keep me turning pages. Not really sure what the name of characters were, but I can tell you that I really liked character development and will definitely read something of Kelly Oram again next time I´m binge reading fluffy, high school YA.

A cute, fluffy, clean YA romance.
This story relates the segue of a tomboy baseball player to a giggling girlie-girl hottie with the help of the hot, and perfect captain of the baseball team.
I really love this book. Jace is just the perfect book boyfriend. His relationship with Charlie is so adorable. I'm in love with all the characters in this book.
Kelly Oram sure knows how to write the cutest love stories.

This was a cute romance focused on mature teens that I did not want to strangle. Super low angst this was perfect for the mellow mood I wanted to sustain. It's a super fluffy read.

The story is about Charlie a female baseball player in an all boys team, she gets an identity crisis when she realizes that none of her teammates sees her as a girl, and thus her journey begins to rediscover herself with the help of the team Captain Jace and his twin sister Laila

Charlie Hastings is the only girl on her high school's baseball team, and she's also a brilliant catcher. When her closest friends on the team exclude her from their prom plans, including the boy she's secretly in love with, she questions her role on the team. When her friends use her as the butt of a thoughtless joke, it hits a nerve and she ends up quitting the team. And then the team captain Jace and his twin sister get involved.

This is fun and mostly sweet. Even the antagonism from Charlie's

I absolutely loved this book! I checked it out with Kindle Unlimited. By the time I had stayed up too late reading it last night, I knew I had to buy my own copy and send it to a few friends.

Charlie Hastings is the only girl on the high school baseball team and she’s dang good! She has three best friends on the team. When she realizes they’ve all made prom plans without her, she gets offended. Why won’t any of them see her as a girl?! What starts as an identity crisis leads to the best

The entire time, I was asking myself if the characters were problematic (the FMC and the boys on the team except for the captain) or if I was just taking some things the wrong way. I didn't appreciate the way this book started and how directly, we were told by the FMC that she hated her thighs and that her team kept mocking her about them.

The whole dressing up, transforming the FMC from who she is into a blonde barbie because she wants to be a girl and she wants the boys to see her as s

I really enjoyed this latest book of Kelly Oram. I missed her writing. This is the reason why I love her books. She is excellent in story telling. She makes it enjoyable, fun, cute, so adorable and the banter! The characters, I love love love the supporting ones. Chad, Leila and Reynolds. They are the best characters in this book. I definitely would recommend this to everyone. It's short read. Just 211 pages. It's fun and honestly, real.

I hated the 3 bffs she got and honestly she can do better.

What can I say? This was such a fun quick read! I love Charlie and seeing her discover and embrace this part of herself that she never got the chance to because of her mother dying when she was young, was such a heartwarming thing to read. I also loved that we didn’t have the stereotypes of the bitchy cheerleader!! Of course we got the stereotype of the bitchy girlfriend jealous of her boyfriend’s female best friend; but we can’t win it all 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️.

Speaking of best friend, Charlie’s best frie

3.5 Stars. This was so cute! And also a little cheesy. Even though I thoroughly enjoyed it, there were a few things that kept me from giving it a full four stars. Charlie was likable enough, but I thought she talked a little too much about how rich she was. And what an amazing athlete she was. And while she did have insecurities about her appearance, once she had her make-over she started using words like "gorgeous" to describe herself. She just seemed really full of herself sometimes and had ze ...more

What an easy, fluffy read! I’m not a sports person and didn’t really pick this book up because of baseball. In fact, I didn’t even know there was anything sports related about this book, which I think was a good thing because had I known, I might have pushed it down the list. The characters are likable and the story is very chic flick. Girl is an introvert, doesn’t wear makeup, isn’t popular and has a very small friend circle. Is in love with her best friend but doesn’t wanna ruin their relation ...more

pretty cute
-I don't read too many sports books but this one was meh ig
-It was kinda insensitive though lmao
-the author interchanges the words "girl" and "girly-girl" as if they were the same. This book feels like a 00s Amanda Bines movie that didn't age well...
-I'm forgiving though and I understand what the author was going for... Just didn't love all the stereotypes :/
-The tittle also makes me think it's an LGBT read lmao not that there would be anything wrong w that, just bad PR ig lol

Raised by her dad (and the Pittsburgh Pirates), Charlie was always just one of the guys. Her three closest friends were all boys and her teammates on the baseball team. She had finally worked up the courage to confess her feelings to her crush, when she discovered she was NOT considered girlfriend material. Feeling the need to change this, she made a deal with her captain, who offered to help her get in touch with her feminine side.

I am going to start by saying that I don't rea

I picked this book up because I love this author and this is the only one I haven’t listened. I loved Charlie and I loved her father in this book.

She struggles with being seen as a girl to her boy friends. They only see her as one of the guys and that isn’t who she wants to be. But she has no idea where to start her mother has passed on and she doesn’t have any girl friends. She has a bit of a break down and confides in one of her team mates Jace and well he takes her under his wing and introdu

This is Angel delight. Light fluffy goodness that delivers on what you expect - satisfying a nostalgic sweet craving. Very typical YA. I enjoyed it overall. Just had issues with Eric reacting appallingly and not apologising sufficiently imo. Also, isit awful that I wanted Charlie to be angry at Jace for blurting our her secret.

Well written. If you read it for what it is, you’ll enjoy it.

I have not been in a big reading mood for the last week and a half because I've just been binging podcasts for some of my favorite TV shows. So I needed a light and fluffy book that wasn't going to take itself too seriously and I could just sit back and enjoy it. Girl at Heat was a great choice. I had fun reading it, the characters were enjoyable, and the relationships were sweet. This isn't going to be a book that's going to stick with me, but it was fun while it lasted and did what I wanted it ...more
