“If I don’t break your heart, the world is going to end.”

When Grayson posts about his girlfriend breaking up with him with that line in an anonymous “Breakup Confessions” thread, Raya recognizes the references and knows that it’s him.

Raya has been dealing with a deeply personal loss, with only her comic books to give her quiet comfort. But thanks to her forum-lurking,

In a time when superhero movies are all the haze, and being a geek is actually the norm, we get a grounded story that could’ve happened to anyone (I still argue that this may have come from a true story). Anyway, this is about Raya, a girl, coming out of high school, and slowly working her through reality with comics and fandoms. One may think that this is a cheesy love story, but the story went further and gave us passion. It’s about embracing what you love, be it comics, shows, family, ...more

Raya and Grayson’s Guide to Saving the World is the third book in the Flicker imprint of #romanceclass, but it’s also 1) a book about letting go, 2) a book about moving forward, and 3) a book about the magic of communities.

I have a lot of inner thoughts and feelings about this book, and I’m not even sure where to start.

Maybe with the author’s “brand” of breaking hearts and putting them together again? (I love you, Ate Cat. )

See, Raya and Grayson both needed to let go of what happened in their

Now this is a book you just inhale. I swear, if real life did not get in the way, I'd have read this in one sitting. From the writing style, characters, and the way scenes unfolded...it was really hard to put this down. Add to the fact that I TOTALLY FREAKING RELATE to all things nerdy, this book is a keeper. Can I also say the cover is LOVE? I totally envisioned Raya and Grayson as the cover models. 10s across the boards!

The only thing that held me back from giving this book a 5-star was the

If you’re looking to add to your list of YA Novels That Will Make You Cry, this latest #romanceclassFlicker release might just be your missing candidate. This tearjerker will either make you shed out of joy (comic book love rep!) or out of heartbreak (grief!) or, let’s be honest, both. But the pain won’t be in vain because our two geeks Raya and Grayson take us on a heck of an adventure of fixing broken hearts, rebuilding dreams, accepting great losses, and choosing priorities. This is a story ...more

I’ve been a fan of Cath since her Alter Christus short story and this YA masterpiece is a reminder why I love reading anything she writes.
.
Cath writes with so much emotion you’ll be scrubbed raw. But she makes sure there is hope. Always.
.
Also, the geekery in this piece was written wonderfully! Speaking from a POV of someone who has been in a relationship with a geek for 15yrs and counting I don’t always get much of the DC references but I see my hubby in Raya and Grayson and that iconic Xmen

I was lucky enough to beta read this book so Raya and Grayson have been in my heart for a long time. And after reading the final copy I know that they will have a place there forever.

"Today though, today is different. And for a minute I wonder if I can finally see days and memories for the magic they really are, instead of time ticking down the last moments we have left."

Raya and Grayson's Guide to Saving the World is a story of letting go of your past and learning to move forward. It's so
