Spirit of the Rainforest: Discover the Magic of These Amazing and Precious Habitats

by Gill Davis

Sadly many of the world's rainforests are now under threat because of rapacious programs of deforestation that are destroying huge areas of forest for logging and to clear the way for agriculture. This wonderfully illustrated book reveals the extraordinary beauty of these precious habitats and highlights just how important they are to the future good health of our planet.

I initially had this book at a 4 star rating, but after looking it over again I noticed a very large issue. Here I was looking at these large, colourful, pictures of snakes, birds, and mammals of all kinds and the pictures were all "flat". Nothing I was looking at popped off the page, so to speak, they just kind of lay there making you wish for more. Gloss paper is the only answer for a book of this nature and seeing as they did not go that route I was very disappointed.
