This was a GoodReads giveaway of a Kindle ebook.

I was not a fan. If you feel strongly that we are responsible for current climate change impacts and are a strong Anti-Trump person, this book is likely for you. I try to look at things a bit more objectively, so I rather examine the facts. If it does not make logical sense, you lose my vote.

First, the writing was just not very realistic. The dialog very grade school. The character interactions also very grade school. It did not strike me as a very

So Long Earth is one of the most brilliant science fiction novels that I have ever had the pleasure of reading. So Long Earth is a novel that is guaranteed to shock as well as thrill and excite its readers with the story’s action-packed moments and compelling moments that will stick in readers’ minds for a long time. So Long Earth is a story that captivated me from the premise alone; I adore science fiction novels, so it is no surprise that I loved So Long Earth. So Long Earth is a book I am obs ...more

I’m not sure if the science was correct but I didn’t read it for the technical jargon. I liked the plot of this book. It held hope for all the characters. That said, this did this need an editor.

Disclaimer: I received this book as part of Good Reads' First Reads program

This book is the story of a group who, fearing the imminent end of life on earth due to climate change, build some spaceships to carry a select group of people to another world. I read about half of this book before I gave up. It was terribly written, the "science" was questionable (I think the author doesn't really understand how cloning works at all), and there were serious problems with the plotting. The author has end

I bought So Long Earth by Michael Bienenstock because it said it was full of science. Well, that was half right, it was full of something.

Let me state that I love most of the books I read and I give a lot of four and five star reviews. I love science fiction, space exploration, am very concerned about climate change, and hate Donald Trump - the four themes of this book. So when I say this book was one of the poorest written, least actual science centered books I have read in years you have to un

Bienenstock writes such entertaining stories unlike others in the genre for me. He developed a sci-fi atmosphere that was rich in detail and action.
I love the way the reader is involved in the creative world the entire way through. From the beginning you are brought up to speed on the politics, races and police state actions very quickly.
Since humanity is as messed up as we are, I wouldn't be surprised to see something along those lines actually happen. Hopefully, good sense prevails sometime i

Thank you to goodreads for the opportunity to read and review this book through the giveaways available from them. I do not want to lump all self-published books into a group of books that otherwise probably would not be published. This is one of those. The science is just not well thought out and believable. The characters are shallow and undeveloped. The conversations are one dimensional and strung out. The book gets two stars instead of one because of the premise of the story-line but not the ...more

SO LONG EARTH takes us on a journey down a road we may find ourselves on in the not-so-distant future should climate change spiral out of control. What’s clear from Bienenstock’s tale is that it will take just as much hard work and heartache to leave the planet as it will take to try to save it. So why not try to save it while we still have the choice?

Note: I didn't read this book--my husband, the sci-fi addict, did. He doesn't have any social media presence, so I offered to put this review up for him. He's an engineer, so a man of few words. What did he think?

"An interesting blend of current events and a possible future for humanity. The author's political beliefs will date the book in the future. Could have used a better editor."

Interesting story

I won this book on Goodreads. It is a technical story of people building space crafts to escape the natural destruction of our planet. There is an emotional side to this story as well in stories that include families, governments and politics .

Giveaway win!

This was ok.. The science is kind of out there and not totally believable. I did not get into the characters much and found myself speed reading through parts of the book to get through it. It has a good premise and story line, but something was just not there for me.

This is OK, and it's fairly apparent that this is the author's first novel. It's a little uneven, and the science is iffy at times. I liked the premise and the story overall. With more experience, the author may hit his stride.

Thanks very much for the review copy!!

This is straight sci-fi in the most basic, best manner. It's full of great sci-fi elements and weaves in great characters and action. It's full of thrills and fun along the way. Don't miss it! ...more
