People are a business's most important asset, but when it comes to hiring, practices are wildly out-of-date, relying on the same wisdom that has been used for over fifty years. It's time to update how we recruit-by focusing on people, not process. In Recruiting Sucks...But It Doesn't Have to, human resources guru Steve Lowisz shares a groundbreaking approach to attracting, developing, and retaining an accomplished and vibrant workforce. Dispelling seven recruiting myths that most HR departments believe, Steve will show you how to prioritize behavior over skills, look beyond LinkedIn, be a marketer, find real ways to inspire employees, take responsibility, avoid reliance on technology, embrace diversity, and more. Filled with specific and practical actions and methods, this book will keep you from losing money, morale, and talent, and build a people-centric team that will take you into the twenty-first century and beyond.
Whether you’re new at recruiting or a seasoned professional, this book will cause you to think about the processes in a different light. What worked twenty, ten, or even five years ago don’t necessarily work today. Some of the topics that stood out to me were that successful recruiters are successful marketers; technology will not replace a good recruiter, but it’s a valuable tool if deployed and used correctly. It also helped me identify those recruiters that no longer have that spark for what they do, and others that look at this field as only a moneymaker. In reality, the recruiter is in a unique position to affect a company’s and an individual’s futures. It’s the passion for putting the right people together that makes the recruiter successful. I highly recommend this book to recruiters of all stages of their careers.
How to take immediate action to improve recruiting.
This is a helpful book for recruiters, HR people, hiring managers -really anyone who recruits on a regular basis. Agree with putting the “human”back into HR (and that definitely includes recruiting).
I have been looking for recruiting books that offer something different from the same thing everyone else is doing. I agree that the book points out steps that most people do not follow, but I do stick to the plan and it not get any added value. Good for those looking for guidance and discipline.
Предложен подход к интервью, полезно, но это лишь одна глава. Из плюсов - это первая глава! Общая канва книги - людей нужно подбирать не по скиллам, а по профилю, характеру, культуре.
