Quix is here to challenge Branches!
This has a nice big font, lots of pictures, and short chapters. A glossary and discussion questions are at the end. They are shaped more like easy readers, so would be a good option for kids who are scared of beginner chapter books. Kids who are happy to move up, may prefer the branches style which look more like big kid books.

Read aloud to Gwen. This one was just ok - nothing that made it super stand out and nothing really objectionable.

I really enjoyed this fun, easy chapter book. The writing was good and there were black and white illustrations throughout. The font is big and easy to read for newly independent readers. There was a glossary in the back which was great. The story was fun and lighthearted.

When Allie finds out she is going to go to Camp Merry Moose but Amy is not, the two do everything on their list in one day. They frequently run into Marvin, a boy from their class, and also visit Madame Lulu to get their fortunes told. Luckily, a place opens up in the camp for Amy, too, and
