Ride Dirty, Cowboy

Addie

Sunny Burke is the all-American life of the party. The golden boy everybody loves, a talented cowboy, and the man who warms my bed at night.

In rodeo circles, they call Kai Hunt ‘Frost’ because of his determination to win and his icy exterior. He’s never made it a secret he can’t stand his best friend’s girl. Aka, me.

Then the three of us got into a car and everything changed.

Because only two left it alive.

In the aftermath, I slink back home to my little country town to lick my wounds. Yet fate has other plans. When a job offer rolls in, the assignment is simple. Tour the US on the pro bull riding tour. Write down the riders’ secrets, and then share them with the world in a weekly gossip column.

But how can I go, when he’ll be there? The man who’s avoided me ever since the accident. He’s made it clear how he feels about me, and what happened that night.

What does it matter if his gaze sets my body on fire?

What does it matter if my heart screams that he’s it? He’s the one.

It doesn’t.

Not when there’s more than just the ghosts of that night keeping us apart.

Secrets, racial tensions, and heart-stopping action explode in this BWWM interracial romance. High angst and super sexy scenes make Ride Dirty, Cowboy an unmissable addition to Elle Thorpe’s Dirty Cowboy series.

Can be read as a standalone, and contains a complete romance with a happily ever after.

Elle Thorpe lives on the sunny east coast of Australia, about an hour out of Sydney. When she's not writing stories full of kissing and chemistry, she's a wife, and Mummy to three tiny humans. She's also official ball thrower to one slobbery dog named Rollo. Yes, she named a female dog after a male character on Vikings. Don't judge her. Elle is a complete and utter fangirl at heart, obsessing over The Walking Dead and Outlander to an unhealthy degree. But she wouldn't change a thing.

Elle writes steamy contemporary romance with a heavy focus on drama, humour and swoon-worthy book boyfriends.

My heart!!!

I didn’t know just how much I would love Addie and Kai and man I was so unprepared for this level of attachment. I knew with the end of book one I was in for a wild ride but Elle has once again gone above and beyond. Sexy and sweet with smart yet painful social commentary about race relations (Shown in the states on the page but noted that its common place in Australia as well.) This was also an awesome conversation about grief and loss. It was such a good story that was intense emotionally but also gave us time to really sit in our feelings. Addie was smart and strong and capable. Kai was stoic, a strong silent type who really internalized his feelings but was so sweet and caring and felt things deep. It was such a good damn tale. And oh my god, Rem was my baby and I love him so much. I need his story yesterday!

I'm going to make you all jealous now because I've already read this sexy cowboy story, and whoa mama, it's so good.

The hero... I'm not telling you who he is. You're going to have to wait to read it. Safe to say, he and Addie have THE MOST chemistry I've ever read. Seriously, I had to buy a new kindle because mine melted.

This is sexier and angstier than book one, Talk Dirty, Cowboy, but in the best way.

Jump in and buy a fan when you do. You'll need it.

I swear Elle's books just keep getting better and better! I have loved everything she has written from her Debut through to Ride Dirty Cowboy but this book is in the top spot with Only The Negatives.

After that cliffhanger ending of Book 1 that acted as a taster of what was to come for this book, I have been impatiently waiting to find out what happened. The book begins right back there in the mix of things and boy does it start off with all the feels and gets your heart racing. Ride Dirty Cowboy follows Addie and Kai as they navigate their emotions after the crash, battling with the guilt over Sunny, their mutual attraction to one another and the reality that life goes on.

Ride Dirty Cowboy has a whole lot of heart, a powerful story that tackles guilt, loss, love and racism. Addie is an Aboriginal woman who is given the chance to tour the US as a journalist with the rodeo circuit, she realises this means spending time with Kai (who she believes hates her) but takes the opportunity anyway. What she doesn't expect is to encounter the hatred all because of the colour of her skin. I adored Addie in this book, she is strong, driven, sensual, passionate and just wants to belong. Kai, God I loved this man! They call him 'Frost' because he is cool and a man of few words. Once he begins to melt around Addie *swoon* he is loyal, he wants to be the best he can be, he loves hard and he talks dirty!

Elle's writing was exceptional, I thought the story held it's pace throughout and I found Addie and Kai as well as other secondary characters, especially Rem very easy to understand and become connected to. There is a touch of humour in the friendships; but the angst in this novel is what I really loved! Yes the racism played a big part in this book and serves as the stronger message; but the survivors guilt because of how Addie is idolised as the grieving girlfriend is what really took the emotionality up a notch for me

I highly recommend reading this book, you won't be disappointed! What a story and what an epilogue.......I need to know what is going on, like yesterday!

I loved every bit of this story.

We meet Addie and Kai on the saddest day of their lives. Her boyfriend and his best friend, Sunny died in a car accident with Kai at the wheel. Kai blames himself, but it's really the fault of the other driver. Unbeknownst to Addie, Kai was at her beside day and night. She's under the false impression that he hates her, but it's the opposite and the guilt weighs heavily on his shoulders.

Addie receives a call to put her journalistic abilities to work. It's too soon and it's too opportunistic but her boss eggs her own with "if not you, then it will be somebody else," so she reluctantly takes the job. This means she'll be spending time with Kai and the other contestants on the bull-riding circuit. Kai never disrespected the relationship Sunny shared with Addie but he has always secretly wanted her to be his. He struggles with the guilt and his feelings for her until it all boils over and they share a passionate kiss. That kiss changes everything and they both know there is no turning back. When Addie attempts find out what that kiss (and the succeeding one) means, Kai shuts down--both times.

It's only when she puts his feet to the fire that he shares his secret crush on her. We see how hard it is for Kai to embrace his feelings for her. In his mind, it's the betrayal of his best friend, a man he considered his brother. In the back of her mind, she's always known there was an unlit spark there. When they finally get together, it's a beautiful thing but there are forces at play that don't want them to be together. So, will they or won't they?

Highly Recommended: Read It!

Sign up for the author's mailing list to receive the 'Riding Dirty' bonus, bonus epilogue!

On a side note, there are two characters that stood out in this story. They are Abel and Rem, two brothers from different mothers that embraced their brotherhood even though their mothers are sworn enemies. Rem makes several impressions and appearances, so I was thrilled to read, he has a story! Can I just say the ending and the segue into Rem's backstory had me on the edge of my seat?!

The second book in the Dirty Cowboy series by Elle Thorpe is even better than the first! Addie and Kai's story isn't as light-hearted as Paisley and Bowen's, but I loved Thorpe's grittier writing. She pulled on my heartstrings and made me cry, all the while making sure that hope never died for her characters. There's some serious drama in this story, and I think Thorpe excels at this sort of writing - though her natural sense of humor adds some much-needed levity to the novel.

A must-read for all cowboy romance lovers! And if you're unsure whether cowboys are your thing, just give this series a try anyway, you won't regret it.

You know when you open an Elle Thorpe book you are in for a real treat. Let me tell you.. I was completely blown away. Kai and Addie were absolute perfection.

Ride Dirty, Cowboy starts right where Talk Dirty, Cowboy ends. In fact, I recommend reading that first if you haven’t already. I was instantly drawn in to the storyline with the most unforgettable characters. This book was emotionally beautiful, sexy, raw, and very real; I savored every chapter. This might be my favorite of the series

So I thought Elle’s cowboy’s in #1 were hot but she ups the hotness in this one. Ride Dirty, Cowboy is ohh so sexy and ohh so addictive. I could not put it down, I fell in love with both Kai and Addie. Actually, I loved them all, well not daddy Hunt; he needs to be stepped on by a bull.
I love Elle’s dirty cowboys and I can’t wait for more.

I love this book! The love that Kai and Addie have made my heart soar. The pair made me curious from book 1 in the series and watching them connect was angsty but beautiful. Kai is so swoon worthy. The obstacles the two overcome to get to their hea is bumpy but the end result is so worth it. Ride Dirty, Cowboy is sexy, angsty and all consuming. It will leave you in the feels. Kai can ride me dirty any day of the week. Those cowboys will make your heart flutter.

Kai Hunt is an American bull rider with the nickname of ‘Frost,’ who has been in Australia for the season. He acquires the name from his best friend, Sunny, and because he is so laser-focused on his craft. Sunny, also a bull rider, dies in a terrible car accident as the book begins, after a drunk driver hits them while Kai is driving. He feels a lot of guilt for the accident, as well as for his unexpressed feelings for Addie St. Clair, Sunny’s girlfriend. The accident injured Addie as well, but she survives with a noticeable facial scar. Kai adores Addie from afar, wishing that he had been the one to meet her first. Because he has had to lock up his feelings for Addie, he comes across as cold-hearted and rude. She is confused by his behavior toward her, even though she and Sunny always tried to include him when they went out.

Addie receives an assignment to write a series of articles about this team of American rodeo athletes. This includes traveling with the team and staying in the same hotels along the way as they travel to various rodeos across America. Her newspaper employer wants the scoop on Kai, who is notoriously private. They want to know about the accident and about his friendship with Sunny. Along the way, Kai and Addie begin to talk and clear up a few misunderstandings. They face some challenges along the way, and encounter some very difficult people. Addie handles them with class, grace and dignity and models behavior that would serve many people well!

There are so many beautiful things about this book! Addie and Kai have both been through pain and heartache and they are both strong enough to show compassion to others and to know when someone is behaving in a bigoted manner. This book tugs at your heartstrings in several places, but especially toward the end when the team is in Las Vegas. There are many heartfelt moments here…read and enjoy this fully!

I legit had a full blown, brain numbing, body draining, panty melting, breakdown reading this book. Elle Thorpe’s second book in her Dirty Cowboy Series has got to be my favorite book of 2020. “Ride Dirty, Cowboy” is an incredibly hot, sexy, and emotional read filled with swoony cowboy goodness.
Kai is a at the top of his game, set to take the bull riding world by storm. After a tragic accident takes his best friend’s life, Kai finds himself riddled with guilt for being the driver of the vehicle that took his life and injured his girlfriend. The girlfriend he is secretly in love with.
Addie is a small town journalist, she is strong and beautiful. Abandoned by her parents as a child and growing up in the foster care system has made her acutely aware of the importance of friends and family. After the accident, a scarred and lonely Addie decides to join the American leg of the rodeo tour as a media liaison.
Throughout the book, Kai and Addie are drawn together and pulled apart over and over again - for the obvious reasons and for some less than obvious ones that will pull at your heartstrings. Wanting to keep this a spoiler free review, all I will say is that, when they finally get their happily ever after you will be giddy with happiness for them because the love they share is that incredible. TBR this fantastic book and if you haven’t read “Talk Dirty, Cowboy” Book 1 in this series, TBR that as well. I look forward to the next book and the journey Elle will take us on. (I read an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.)

Addie and Kai are beautiful and HOT together!!

I was so excited to get back to Elle Thorpe's hot, dirty talking cowboys, and she did not disappoint!!

Kai and Addie were together with his bestfriend, and her boyfriend, Sunny when he died and Addie was badly injured.

Addie was then invited by her paper to go to the US for the continuing rodeo season, and she was dreading it. Knowing Kai had always hated her, she was embarrassed to be seen using Sunny's death for forward momentum in her journalism career, but she knew she was never meant to stay in the tiny Australian town she was born in.

Kai was stunned when he saw Addie the next morning being introduced by the head of the Rodeo circuit, and then when he realized she was going to be interviewing him, Kai was incredibly angry.

Kai knew he didn't deserve to be around the woman that was his best friends girlfriend, he didn't deserve her at all after what he had done to her and Sunny. He thought she could never find him attractive, especially when she'd spent the last few months with Sunny. Then there was his family situation, he could never let her find out what he grew up with - no one would forgive him if they knew the truth. But the truth is always more clear to everyone except the person who lived it.

When Addie suddenly finds out about Kai's family she knows for sure why he's always hated her, and this attraction she's been suffering all these months is definitely one sided. Kai only has one shot to show her exactly what he thinks about her, and if he gets it wrong he'll never win the girl.

A gorgeous, insanely sexy book that shows people can recover from what they were forced to live as children. Elle has blown me out of the water with the story of Kai and Addie, and the choices made after Addie finds out exactly how Kai feels. An action-packed, fast-paced novel of love overcoming every obstacle thrown in its way. I devoured it in one sitting, and couldn't look away from even one sentence! Worth far more than 5⭐.

I have been DYING for this book after the way Talk Dirty, Cowboy ended. I needed to know what happened. Kai and Addie’s story does not disappoint. The more books I read from Elle the more and more I fall in love with her writing, her characters and her stories. She isn’t afraid to shy away from tough topics and does such a great job of writing them.

Kai and Addie’s story was everything I could have hoped for and so much more. I loved the chemistry between the two of them from the very start. However, Kai felt that he couldn’t have her, that he should have her. Addie was Sunny’s and in his mind would always been Sunny’s. Addie is heartbroken over the loss of Sunny and recovering from her injuries when she is offered a job working the Rodeo circuit and interviewing everyone involved. Kai and Addie can only avoid their attraction to one another for so long….

I loved being able to follow Kai and Addie on the Rodeo circuit. It is so fun to see more of the Bull riding world. Kai and Addie’s connection, their bond and their shared loss of Sunny. Addie’s attitude and gracefulness when it came to handling Kai’s father.

Like Talk Dirty, Cowboy this one also ends on a little cliffhanger and I can not wait to see what happens next!

Ride Dirty, Cowboy is a MUST READ for anyone who loves cowboy romances with some drama and steam!

Definitely surprised at some of the twists in this story.

If you don't like interracial couples then this probably isn't the book for you (just getting that out there as I know some people will leave a negative review simply because they have strong opinions about the subject). After the way book 1 ended I was anxious to read this one. This story was so full of heartbreak for both characters. I loved that he proves that a child doesn't have to continue spreading the negativity and hate they were taught by their parents. I loved that she showed such strength by showing compassion for those who didn't deserve it. I'll admit this was not as easy of a read as book 1 and it was a bit frustrating that they kept being so hot and cold with each other (and at times could get a bit repetitive feeling). I just wanted to smack them both and tell them life is too short to waste time, and that when you find the right person nothing else should matter (especially knowing how much his friend would have wanted him to be happy). I did love that he stood up for her and demanded respect, and how he was willing to stand behind his words even if it wasn't an easy choice.

Warm, heartbreaking, rough, anger inducing, spirited, intriguing and quite the hot ride when you open the pages of this book. In the blink of an eye, their lives change forever and begin a journey that neither know what the end result will be. This book will play on your emotions and you move from loss, guilt, love, passion, hatred, confusion and forgiveness. You will experience the excitement of the rodeo along with the anxiety and fear. You will see new friendships form, other friendships grow stronger and a family almost torn apart. You will see two people finally admit their feelings for one another and then almost lose each other because of hatred.

More importantly, what you will find is a wonderfully written story that will hit quite a few nerves as it deals with Kia's family. You will find brilliantly written characters who are well defined and very likeable and then you will find a book that you just cannot put down until you reach the very end.

I loved this book and I can hardly wait for the next one. Kudo's to the author and I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

Outstanding!!! This series started out with a bang and the author did not let up with Ride Dirty Cowboy. The book is very emotional and deals with such things as loss, anger, guilt, forgiveness, love and so much more. The storyline is very well written with raw emotional times that touch the heart. The characters are very well defined and I just fell in love with them more and more.

If you’ve read the synopsis, it gives you a very good premise of the storyline, so I won’t repeat it. But what it doesn’t tell you is how addictive the storyline and characters are. I found I couldn’t put the book down because I simply had to know how things were going to play out.

Kudos Ms. Thorpe for another phenomenal read. A book that this reader highly recommends grabbing up. While it could be read as a standalone, I Highly recommend reading book 1, Talk Dirty Cowboy first. 2 Thumbs up and 5 stars for a great read and bring on Sexy Dirty Cowboy, Book 3, I can’t wait.

I absolutely loved Bowen from book one in this series, but I think Kai Hunt gives him a run for his money in book two. There wasn't anything I didn't love about this book. The author took a sensitive topic - an interracial romance - and handled it so very well. Addie has long wondered why the best friend of the man she was dating hates her, but she couldn't be more wrong - Kai's in love with her and has been since the moment he laid eyes on her. Staying away from her was self-preservation, but when they're forced to be around each other because of work they find it hard to ignore the chemistry between them. Outside forces work to pull them apart, but they're determined to make their romance work - until Addie suddenly walks away. Beautifully written with topics that are sensitively handled, you won't want to miss this romance.

Holly hell what a steamy book Ride Dirty Cowboy was.

I absolutley loved Kai and Addies story.

It was sad at the start had me in tears but as it went on it got hot and steamy and just wow.

Kai was such a hot head at times but then so reserved aswell. He was in love with Addie from the moment he met her but she was his best mates girl. A terrible accident happened that caused Sunny the best friend to die and thats when Kai struggled to stay away from Addie.

Addie was a reporter for a magazine company and got her to travel with the team and write stories on them. Kai was the main person they wanted an article of and Addie struggled to write it at the start.

Addie has always thought Kai hated her but what she didnt know was he Loved her.

Addie and Kai finally got there act together.

Elle has away with writing cowboy books and she is AMAZEBALLS at it. You must read.

4.25⭐

Ride Dirty, Cowboy is the second book in Elle Thorpe's Dirty Cowboy Series and this one is grittier, more dramatic and more angst ridden, as Kai and Addie take centre stage and face many hurdles in their quest for a happy ever after, including dealing with the death of Addie's boyfriend Sunny who also happened to be Kai's best friend. Not to mention the fact that Addie is of aboriginal heritage and deemed by some not to be a suitable girlfriend for a good white boy like Kai, and all of these hurdles certainly made for an interesting and absorbing story that easily drew me in and kept me reading, and with plenty of heat plus some nice touches of humour and new characters this genuinely was an enjoyable read. That I would happily recommend to others.

Ride Dirty, Cowboy by Elle Thorpe
Dirty Cowboy #2

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Ride Dirty, Cowboy and for that I’m very grateful. Release Date is 24/02/2020!

“Her hand still fit perfectly in mine, like it always had. Like it always would. I just needed to make sure she knew it.”

My gosh, this book broke my heart but also repaired it. There isn’t much I can say without giving away who the hero is in this book because that’s something you will want to find out on your own, Trust me!

Now what I can tell you is that I absolutely loved Ride Dirty, Cowboy! It’s sweet, sexy, dirty, sad, mean, a little bit tough at times but overall amazing. Addie has had a tough life, being aboriginal and having darker skin then people in life hasn’t been easy.

Specially when you end up in the bad side of their racial slurs. But she’s grown up since then and has found herself a job with her small little towns newspaper, The last thing she excepts though is that a car crash would change her life forever. The question is, is it for better or for worse?

Elle this was amazing, I loved it and I seriously can’t wait for book 3, I need to know more about my favourite bullfighter!

Ever since reading Talk Dirty, Cowboy, I've been dying to get this in my hot little hands and it was everything I hoped it would be and more. Kai and Addie's story did not disappoint. Addie thinks Kai hates her and when they are thrown together to follow the rodeo circuit (Kai as a bull rider and Addie as a reporter,) she learns that's just not true. He's been keeping his feelings hidden for a while for several reasons and when all the truths and secrets are revealed, there's a chance he'll lose everything. This book gave me all the heat, heart, and swoony cowboy goodness that I love and I can't wait to see what Elle Thorpe has in store for us next.

Ride Dirty, Cowboy is a story that gripped hold of my heart right from the start. Two people who have a connection that is soul deep. As guilt in every form tries to smother what Addie and Kai feel for each other, these two will need to hold on tighter than a bull rider does to succeed in a future. As old ways, small minds and ghosts linger to hinder their love, it will take a rodeo clown jumping in to give these to a fighting chance. Their story was emotional, original, heartfelt, passionate and one that will own your soul.

Ride Dirty, Cowboy in the second book in the Dirty Cowboy series and absolutely incredible! From the first page until the last this book was unputdownable. I really loved the relationship between Addie and Kai, their attraction and chemistry. Addie & Kai's story is sweet, angsty, full of pain, loss, passion, heat, love, and will give you all the feels. It's a beautifully written story, one I loved, and most definitely recommend.

This story started with a bang and just blossomed to such an unexpected good read. I loved Kai and Addie’s character total opposite but both was holding emotional baggage that will have you in an emotional state. I enjoyed how their character blossom to such great characters that you will be cheering for their HEA. This was my first read by the author and it did not disappoint. If your a fan of cowboy genre than this romance story is for you.

This book really hit a couple of awkward topics on the head. I felt for all the characters throughout this whirlwind that started as soon as you opened the book.

Falling for the woman of your dreams that couldn't be yours. And all the conflicts that go along with that.

An amazing couple brought out by an amazing author.

This is the 2nd book in the cowboy series & can be read as a stand alone though I'd recommend reading book 1 first. Addie & Kai had their differences in book 1 and it was interesting to see how they'd react to each other in this book. They definitely had some challenges they had to get past and in Kai's case as well, he had family issues he needed to deal with as well. My heart broke while reading this book but it was put back together by the end.

Great Book...

This is the very first book I've had the pleasure of reading by Elle Thorpe and Oh my gosh this phenomenal.
I found myself rooting for Addie and Kai but there were moments that I wanted to smack one or the other on the back of the head.
Kai for his guilt over the accident that wasn't his fault and Addie for pushing Kai away for his own good.
I look forward to reading more books by Elle Thorpe.
