Final Draft Presents Ask the Screenwriting answers the questions screenwriters have been yearning to have answered, from formatting to dealmaking. This book addresses every screenwriter question and problem head on, many with multiple answers that offer a range of approaches and perspectives from multiple areas of the film and television world. Final Draft and the editors have been able to interview the top studio and television executives, literary agents, managers, script consultants, producers, produced screenwriters and distinguished screenwriting authors to answer the important questions on the minds of screenwriters today. Professionals from ICM, UTA, Writers & Artists Group International, DreamWorks, MGM, Paramount and many more take the time to stop and answer your questions. Experts will tell the reader what's right and what's wrong with a screenplay - and offer ways to fix it.
A thoughtful, well-balanced collection of opinions regarding all things screenwriting. Wish there was another book about just TV writing, but the TV chapter was useful. That said, some answers got superflous, and the format was very linear (Q, A, A, A,..). It would've been nice to see polls for some of the simpler questions, instead of having to read the same answer over and over again. Also, the show biz lingo boxes were scattered all over the place. I would've put them right next to where they occurred in a question/answer (tying it to context, the way a textbook does).
The "editors" who put this book together probably just hit copy and paste a thousand times, without much more thought about the flow and details of the book. They definitely could've put more effort into it.
