Kyle needed a place to stay, he never thought it would turn into so much more.
So, your gorgeous boss, Maverick, and his yummy husband, Ari, are letting you stay with them while you get back on your feet? Here are a few simple tips:
Don’t call his husband Daddy. I know it’ll be difficult, but seriously, don’t.
Don’t leave a pair of red, lacy panties in their bed.
If you hear interesting noises from their bedroom in the middle of the night, don’t peek in. Don’t.
And most importantly, don’t fall in love.
Follow these tips and everything should go as expected.
**This book is the third book in the Inked series, which is a spin-off of the Heathens Ink series, but it CAN be read as a stand-alone. Unexpected is a super sweet, steamy MMM story with low angst and very light Daddy kink.
K.M.Neuhold has long since been a romance junkie. When she’s not writing she’s reading or spending time snuggling with her husky or her husband. She fell in love with M/M romance last year and hasn’t been able to turn back. There’s nothing she loves more than love in all its forms.
I really like K.M. Neuhold, but I don't think poly romances are my thing, especially when they are as schmoopy as this one.
Unexpected was like a insta-lovey, cuddly teddybear of a romance. I found it both adorable and 100% unbelievable.
Once this triad got together (and, seriously everyone and their mother is in a throuple in this book), it was all heart faces and kissing and no jealousy. I mean... none! I was expecting some adjustment from going from a married couple to three people, but it was insta love, insta rainbows. Come. On.
Lots of packing lunch for each other, lots of kisses and cuddles, and, to be honest, I don't really remember if anything else happened... lots of selling clothing?
Cute story, especially if you like this sort of thing, but it wasn't my bag. Bonus points for a femme MC, though.
I liked the first half of this book more than the second. Once the three men got together, the plot lost all tension. I was expecting some conflict, but Maverick got over his fear of trusting another man very quickly and once they were in, they were all in.
Considering how much Mav was pining for Sam, the first boy who left him and Ari, running into Sam seemed completely anticlimactic. Ari got closure, but Mav, who needed it most, didn't.
I liked Kyle and his penchant for gender bending. I'm a fan of femme men who aren't afraid to flaunt make-up and skirts.
The ending is most definitely a HEA, even if too many loose ends remained.
This is a cute, sexy story if you like throuples and don't mind insta love.
Loved this latest in the Heathen's Ink spin-off series from K.M.
it was packed with delicious smexy times, but also lots of feelings and an absolutely masterful demonstration of how communication is the key to any relationship, never mind a married pair taking on a third.
I do love me a good menage and KM is one of the best, imho, at showing the myriad of different ways a triad can come to be and at exploring the varied dynamics between three people.
Great guest appearances by most of the rest of the crew made this a thoroughly enjoyable read, I devoured it in one sitting.

Re-read October 2020 Felt the same with my re-read. The first half was definitely better than the second half. The second half had way too much sex.

3.5 stars
This was super fluffy. And even though I like fluffy, sometimes there's a fine line between super fluff and boring.
I really loved the hurt/comfort parts where Kyle so obviously needed someone to take care of him. And I loved how these three just got together without any angst. But.... I still have to admit that it lost some momentum in the second half. Once they were all on board with the relationship there wasn't that much going on anymore.
But I still really liked it, and it definitely deserves the 3.5 stars I'm giving.
This was a cute, yet slightly unbelievable, story. I liked the guys, but some things in the story were just a bit too convenient and handled a bit too easily. All in all, this was a sweet, low angst addition to a series that I enjoy.
I loved Kyle. He had so much strength and determination. Some people are just cruel and intolerable of people or things that don't fit into their idea of what is acceptable or correct. Kyle experienced this almost every day. It appeared that they either didn't take time to see the real him, or if they did, they just didn't care about the pain and the hurt that he hides behind with bright ready smiles and perfect makeup. Those types were always trying to turn off the light inside him just because he didn't fit into their idea of normal.
Maverick and Ari are a beautiful couple that have been together a long time and the love between them is almost consuming... but things are not always perfect. Ari works too much trying to support Maverick and his store. Maverick wants Ari to have the success that he deserves. They had recently lost their other partner when he left unannounced. But even when things were difficult for them...when they realized that Kyle had lost his apartment and needed somewhere to stay, they never hesitated for a moment to take him in, with no expectation on their part other helping him out.
This story is full of sexy guys with a little "Daddy kink" thrown in, but what I liked most about it, other than the three wonderful guys, was that it had very little angst and we are given a terrific ending. I would have expected nothing else from K.M Neuhold.
Finally Kyle too had is happy ending and i couldn't be happier 😍😍 Loved this book: it's sweet, hot, funny but not shallow. KM Neuhold created this big family you can't help but love, and it's like you're part of it too so it's not easy let them go 🖤
Unexpected is the third book in K.M. Neuhold’s Inked series, a spin off from the author’s Heathen’s Ink series. I jumped into Inked on book 2, Uncomplicated, and had no problem starting there. The books do feature characters who were clearly stars of their own stories, but the plots stand alone just fine.
I really enjoyed Unexpected quite a lot. It hit my sweet spot of super sexy, but also nice character development and a lot of warmth. The plot has a nice twist for a menage/poly story in that Maverick and Ari were previously in a triad and are still hurting from their third leaving them. It added some interesting conflict here, for as much as Maverick clearly wants Kyle, he is also afraid of getting his heart broken again. As I said, this book is very sexy and things move forward between the men and Kyle at a nice pace that doesn’t leave us waiting too long for things to happen. But I also appreciated that there is more here than just the heat. The men really talk through their issues, they are open and honest in their communication, and they are incredibly tender and caring toward one another. The story gave me lots of nice feels and there is some great warmth amidst the sexiness.
This book was exceptional!!! I love a good mmm romance but only when it done well and boy was this book done well! I love this author's writing, but she took it to a whole new level with this book. She wrote a story about a married couple bringing a third into their relationship. Not only is it difficult to write a good polyamorous story, but it is much more difficult when there is an established couple to start--why do they need a third? Will there be jealousy? How will they all fit together? Often books with this troupe do not do justice to those questions and just have a lot of steam without enough explanation. Not this book at all. I completely understood why Mav and Ari needed Kyle, I completely understood why Kyle needed them, I was completely in love with the 3 of them together, I was completely sold on this entire story and loved every bit of it. There was open communication, discussions about feelings and making things work, off the chart levels of steam that were smoking hot and absolutely tender and loving all at the same time. KM Neuhold knocked this one out of the park!!!
I loved this book! This is third in Inked series and can be read as a standalone. I know people have been waiting years for Kyle's book but fortunately I only recently started this series. This book is filled with feels and fun, sexy times with all the lacy goodness.
I loved Ari, Maverick and Kyle are perfect for each other. You guys know I'm pretty new to MMM and this is different than Royals book. I did there might be some jealousy because Ari and Maverick are married but it was totally unfounded. It just shows how communication is key. Also Ari is sooooo caring!!
There's slight Daddy kink and while I'm not into it, it didn't bother me much as it's aleeady mentioned in the blurb. We also meet all of the Heathen's Ink guys and it's so good to see them all. It really is a beautiful family!

I took a break from the Inked world so the only books I remembered was Royal’s, Adam’s and Cas’s. I have mixed feelings about this one. With such a big caring family, Kyle should’ve asked for help. But then he wouldn’t end up in his own three way. They made a cute trio. I skipped Kyle taking a sneaky trip to their bed. Too cringy for me. I didn’t really enjoy the daddy kink either. The relationship building, Mav’s healing and the importance of communication were all good. Favourite part was meeting the family, but for some reason I’ll likely just remember ducks.

I adored this story. Sweet, sexy, and I love that it gave equal importance to all three partners.
While you could read this on its own, I definitely think you’ll enjoy it more if you know the rest of the guys and how they all know each other. I really loved reading about Kyle and his men.
Kyle needed a place to stay, he never thought it would turn into so much more.
So, your gorgeous boss, Maverick, and his yummy husband, Ari, are letting you stay with them while you get back on your feet? Here are a few simple tips:

So, I must confess from the outset that I hadn’t read the previous book in this series (but it does specify in the blurb that it works as a standalone) and this is a new to me author.
Since I absolutely loved the book, I’ll definitely be looking up the previous books and enjoying the get-together-stories of a few of the couples or should I say thruples we meet in Inked book 3!
Poor young Kyle is a fabulously flamboyant character who has been on his own since he was sixteen (though he did have a room mate before he fell in love and moved out to live in polyamorous bliss) and is really struggling to make ends meet. His boss, Mav, is struggling to get his new clothing store off the ground and can be a bit late, and a bit short on Kyle’s pay which leads to his landlord chucking Kyle out on the streets again. His choices are basically sleep in his car, or sneak back into the shop after they have closed up for the night and sleep on the office couch.
Obviously, Kyle choses the couch option, and its working okay until Mav’s gorgeous husband Ari pops by to pick up Mav’s laptop. It’s an adorable meet-cute and leads to Kyle staying with Maverick and Ari. From this point the story progresses beautifully, with lots of longing and horny behaviour until the guys sort themselves out.
It’s a lovely, sweet and sexy MMM polyam romance with some good communication and supportive friends. It is definitely kink-lite and suitable for a reader with little experience!
I adored seeing these three lovely hardworking men find their HEA and will certainly be looking up books one and two.
Highly recommended.
I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Kyle seems to have no luck at all. Now, if you are familiar with the Heathen Ink series, you will remember him as the teen from the Rainbow house, and OMG am I so happy he finally gets his story. As I was saying, Kyle seems to have no luck, now evicted from his apartment, he has taken to staying in the office of the store he works at. That only lasts three days before Ari, his boss Maverick's husband, finds him. Ari takes him home, sort of like a lost puppy, knowing that they can help him, but not realizing that in bringing him in, he will complete them.
Ari and Mav have been married for a while and are not strangers to a triad relationship, but they are unsure if they want to risk the hurt of letting someone else in again. They survived the last breakup, but can their marriage survive another?
I loved taking this journey with Kyle, Ari, and Mav. At first I was a bit unsure as to how this was going to go but it all worked out in the end and it was fab! I kept picturing Jeffree Star, but shorter for Kyle. I feel a reread of all both series coming, I loved seeing Liam, Beck, and the others. This had some really good naughty moments and a bit of drama to round it out; I give this 4 stars.
Hm. Another book by Ms. Neuhold that I wanted so much to love. Unexpected has a great blurb, and the story is good, but didn’t grab me as much as I hoped it would.
A fun mmm romance with an established couple who knows something is missing since losing their third but afraid to take that next step once again. The three men balance on another in a way that works when entering a third into a long-term relationship. These three were made to be with one another. They just exoerice some growing pains to get to thst point .
This combination of main characters—Ari, Maverick, and Kyle—was just perfect. Anytime I start reading a story with an established couple where a third comes into play, I’m always unsure as I sit with my fingers crossed hoping that the dynamic of the couple doesn’t get ripped apart with the new addition. Here, Maverick actually has a similar concern…though his worry is more focused on not getting hurt again if things don’t work out.
Thankfully, Kyle does not feel like an add-on to Ari and Maverick’s marriage; it’s more accurate to say that the three of them together fully complement each other and their triad makes them complete.
For those who like men in lingerie, Kyle will not disappoint (and his choices do trigger certain events in the story). For those who like boys and their Daddies, the connection between Kyle and Ari will make you smile. And for those who love M/M/M relationships, Ari, Maverick and Kyle will absolutely satisfy as a triad. Drama? Not so much…a touch of angst, yes; and Maverick’s apprehensiveness to getting involved with Kyle with his ongoing worry of losing him did wear on me just a bit. In the end though, the choices the three of them made concerning their individual and collective paths mean everything comes to a gratifying conclusion.
Unexpected was a solid 4-star read for me. Though it does feature quite a few supporting characters from the author’s previous books, it can definitely be read as a standalone. And as you might have expected, this book is meant for readers 18+ for adult language and sexual content.
My friend Dana recommended this book to me and since I’ve recently read a couple books by this author and loved them, I decided to dive in and now I need to read the entire series! Holy crap I’m intrigued by the premise of the series! Kyle, Mav and Ari’s book is so good and sweet and sexy and heartwarming even with the bit of angst thrown in. It’s definitely a feel good story and I loved their HEA!
Maverick and Ari have been happily married for years, but they’re missing something either way. In comes Kyle. They weren’t planning on adding anyone into their relationship, but these men just fit together. I remember meeting Kyle for the first time several books ago and I’m so happy to see how he’s grown up and gained confidence in who he is as a person. And Mav and Ari only added to it. Hot and steamy, but also full of heart and swoony moments.
♥️♥️ Aww this is a beautiful story of a couple adding another person into their relationship. Ari and Mav where in a trio before Sam left them heart broken. Mav didn't want to hurt a second time or threaten their marriage breakdown. This is written in away the three merge together. Each with their POVs told. I loved the previous Heathen Ink series featuring some of guys included. The ending I loved too, this with 3 adorable men falling in love. sexy sexy hot scenes and lacey panties and more in this gorgeous book with a hit of hot Daddy . Ari and Mav have given themselves 4 months to get Aris shop to profit or close. Kyle 23 was scrapping by with money barely ....loving makeup he worked at C&A with Mav. Ari and Marvick have been together for 10 years.. Maverick 35 yrs the owner of Cowboys and Astronauts for 3 yrs while Ari worked at a cafe and then a restaurant keeping afloat.
I've been waiting for Kyle's story for a long time but this one felt less authentic than many of the others. Maybe it is because I'm not a fan of daddy kink but I felt like it didn't belong. I felt like it was a lot going on- between lingerie and daddy kink plus an MMM it was just too much for me.
It was disappointing for me since I really wanted to like this one. :(
This book was just what I wanted in an MMM book. It’s well plotted and very believable. Ari, Kyle and Maverick are perfect as a triad. Filling areas in each other’s lives. It’s hot and sweet. I loved it. I wouldn’t mind a check in novella in the future. I loved these characters.
