Hellebores

Rate this book
Many gardeners first fall in love with these lavish blooms and extravagant foliage in wintertime, when little else grows with such abandon. Then the affair continues with the discovery of the full range of delightful year-round perennials, including the new strains coming out each year, some for shade, others for sun. Start your romance with the snow-white purity of the Christmas rose, then expand to the variegated Lenten rose, before trying your own year-round hybrids.

I really liked the cultivation information in this book. There is good advice for landscaping with hellebores, and an interesting round-up of different hellebores varieties. My biggest complaints are that there aren't enough photos (although I greatly enjoyed the ones they included, I wanted more) and the book is a little outdated because a lot of new hellebore species have been isolated since it was published. It is an excellent resource for someone interested in learning to grow and maintain hellebores in the landscape (me!)
