First of all, thank you so much to J.T. Ellison, Bookclubbish, and HTP Books for my free copy of this book. I loved Good Girls Lie, so I was so excited to get my hands on Her Dark Lies! It was so well written and immediately captured my attention. Someone asked me if it was similar to The Guest List, and maybe a bit by plot, but nothing like it in writing. This book is captivating and dynamic, and I loved it!

A book that started out with someone dying certainly grabbed my attention! There's also a wedding on a remote island, a storm that doesn't allow anyone on or off the island, and dead bodies popping up all over the place. I thought that this would be just another "locked room" mystery, but I certainly was wrong! My first J.T.Ellison book, definitely not my last.

Ellison’s “Tear Me Apart” is one of my favorites and I recommend it often. I’ve read her others since then and they have been good, but haven’t topped TMA yet. This one is no different.
I really enjoyed listening to Claire’s POV but once the second narrator comes into play, the book picks up quickly.
I found it kind of ridiculous to think anyone, even the great Compton family, would move forward after the “surprises” and then Henna. Come on....as if all that could be hidden from the guests. Nope ...more

A fast-paced, twisted, thriller with surprises at every turn. Several mysteries are tied together by the Compton name or by Claire, herself.
It is very difficult to determine who is the good guy and who is the bad. At some point, everyone is suspect.

I so wanted to like Her Dark Lies by Jt Ellison as the premise was very intriguing, and the location sounded like it would make for a scary and mysterious book. The book started well enough, but as the story progressed, there were just too many unbelievable things going on and too much description that pulled me away from the story's plot. I could not connect to any of the characters. I trudged through reading this book. It may appeal to others, but this book was not just for me.
