A scenic setting on an island off of the Italian coast? A group of guests gathering for a special occasion at a beautiful villa? A violent storm that keeps the guests stuck on the island? Power going out? A killer hidden in the shadows? I am here for it!

Claire and her soon-to-be husband, Jack, leave a shocking incident behind at Claire’s home in Nashville, and travel to the Isle Isola island. Here, Jack and his wealthy family own a villa. It’s the perfect setting for their nuptials, among 30 of

Thank you Harper Collins/MIRA Books for my copy of Her Dark Lies by JT Ellison in exchange for my honest review. This title releases March 9, 2021.

A wedding set on a remote island.

New and old dead bodies piling up.

Everyone has a secret and anyone could have done it.

It’s no secret that JT Ellison is by far one of my favourite thriller writers of ALL TIME. I discovered her writing almost 4 years ago with her standalone Lie To Me, and have been hooked ever since. I still squeal with the knowledge
I would like to start this by saying, thank you so much J.T. Ellison for allowing me to volunteer as tribute, and be apart of this book. She is one of my all-time favorite authors, so I am feeling totally blessed right now. Be sure to check this one out, to see just what role I play exactly!
So, does being in this book make me biased? Is it going to make me give this a higher star rating than what it deserves? Hell no. Ellison is one of my favorite authors, because her writing instantly draws yo

First of all, thank you so much to J.T. Ellison, Bookclubbish, and HTP Books for my free copy of this book. I loved Good Girls Lie, so I was so excited to get my hands on Her Dark Lies! It was so well written and immediately captured my attention. Someone asked me if it was similar to The Guest List, and maybe a bit by plot, but nothing like it in writing. This book is captivating and dynamic, and I loved it!

Thoughts: I really enjoyed all the dynamics at play in this book. All of the characters

In Her Dark Lies, artist Claire is about to marry extremely wealthy Jack Compton on his family's private island in Italy. Then the bad things start happening. Do you like excessive descriptions of landscape and locations? Would you like to read page after page of details about the island and house? Do you like it when the protagonists gloss over the major events of the book so they can continue to describe their environment? Then Her Dark Lies is the book for you! I stuck it out to the end, but ...more

Thank you to J.T. and the publisher for sending me a copy of this one - all opinions are my own.

I would just like to say - I LOVE J.T. Ellison as an author - I don't know how she comes up with the twisting, atmospheric and wild plots she does, but I hope she never stops.

This new one from her is in top form, and possibly her best work yet. I was sucked in from the very start (and let me also mention that in a year when travel is impossible, being able to visit an Italian island with a castle on

Thank you NetGalley for my advanced copy. I’m a huge fan of J.T. Ellison and found the book captivating with all the mysterious details of the private island, villas, and luxurious mansion with its tunnels and cliffs playing a huge part in the fast action, sometimes overwhelming parts.

Her Dark Lies is my first book by J.T. Ellison but definitely won't be my last. This book is beautifully atmospheric. The setting is a wedding weekend in an old gothic mansion on a secluded Italian island during a massive storm. Don't you have delicious chills already?

Claire is an upcoming artist who somehow becomes engaged to Jackson Compton. The Comptons are an incredibly wealthy, incredibly powerful family and that are a lot of mob-family allusions that help add to the dark, intense atmospher

A book that started out with someone dying certainly grabbed my attention! There's also a wedding on a remote island, a storm that doesn't allow anyone on or off the island, and dead bodies popping up all over the place. In Her Dark Lies by J.T. Ellison, the author sets the scene for a romantic wedding in a villa on an island off the coast of Italy. Claire Hunter, an artist who is scarred by the death of her father, and Jackson Compton, a man with many secrets including one about the death of his first wife, are getting married…unless a killer is successful in spoiling their plans.

Just as they are to depart Nashville, Tennessee, for their nuptials in Europe, Claire and Jackson are attacked in their home. The off

First of all this book involves one of my most favorite thriller tropes: a group of people at a secluded location, in this case an Italian island where Jack and Claire are getting married. Jack is part of a rich socialite family who owns this mansion on the island, and they decide to have their wedding there with only their closest friends and family. We learn pretty early in the book that Jack’s first wife Morgan died by drowning several years prior (and the book also immediately insinuates it ...more

A wedding on a private island in the Mediterranean is threatened by a storm and escalating disturbing events in this disappointing, overlong thriller.

The bride, Claire, is a shallow woman who was once a bohemian artist with a Dark Past but has transformed herself into a trophy wife for her rich groom, Jack, who lost his first wife in mysterious circumstances. Claire and Jack's relationship is presented in a superficial he-completes-me sort of way. There is a lot of focus on describing their lux

It's the event of the year. Artist Claire Hunter is marrying wealthy Jack Compton in a luxurious ceremony by the sea in Italy. It's supposed to be a magical day surrounded by close family and friends. However, as soon as Claire and Jack arrive on the island, trouble seems to start. I mean, what's not to like? A beautiful wedding within a wealthy but kind family on a secluded island. It sounds like perfection.

What could be more romantic than a wedding on the Isle Isola? Surrounded by cliffs and water with an over the top villa where you can get lost if you aren’t careful.

Claire Hunter is an artist. On the rise and to top it off, she is marrying Jack Compton of the uber-wealthy Compton family. The Comptons have secrets. A lot of secrets.

Ellison’s “Tear Me Apart” is one of my favorites and I recommend it often. I’ve read her others since then and they have been good, but haven’t topped TMA yet. This one is no different.

I really enjoyed listening to Claire’s POV but once the second narrator comes into play, the book picks up quickly.

I found it kind of ridiculous to think anyone, even the great Compton family, would move forward after the “surprises” and then Henna. Come if all that could be hidden from the guests. Nope

A fast-paced, twisted, thriller with surprises at every turn. Several mysteries are tied together by the Compton name or by Claire, herself.

I so wanted to like Her Dark Lies by Jt Ellison as the premise was very intriguing, and the location sounded like it would make for a scary and mysterious book. The book started well enough, but as the story progressed, there were just too many unbelievable things going on and too much description that pulled me away from the story's plot.
