The Stars From Me to You

📚 Hello Book Friends! I was contacted recently by a Canadian book publisher asking if I would be interested to read one of their books. Of course, I said “yes”. Discovering new Canadian authors is always a pleasure. The Stars From Me to You by Nicole Bea is a middle-grade book that deals with many elements such as depression, sexual identity, losing a loved one, and finding a reason to live. Bellamie’s twin brother is in a coma after an accident. Rion is stuck in Limbo which is a place that is e

I waited for almost a month for my book mail to arrive from Nevermore Press. Darn you Canada Post where is my “book party in my mailbox?!” @jaymespinks and @heidirushton graciously provided me with a PDF version of THE STARS BETWEEN YOU AND ME by @nicolebeaauthor so I didn’t have to haunt my mailbox any longer! Read this middle grade fiction on a rainy, Calgary weekend.

I received this book free from Trap Door books, an imprint of Nevermore Press for an honest review. I loved the overall presentation of the book, with its attractive cover with parts of it, glow in the dark. It was a very quick enjoyable middle-grade novel of only 127 pages. It hit on many important discussion points such as death, depression, life after death, divination, and sexual identity.

Words cannot express how much I adored this book.

It’s a must-read for everyone — adults and children alike. It deals with all kinds of important topics like grief, depression, sexuality, and love. I found myself relating to the characters and I loved the development of Bellamie, as well as the concept of Limbo. Sweet, insightful, and very poetic.

Do yourself a favour and pick it up! You won’t regret reading it.

Not to mention the adorable bookmark I received! I also loved the help phones at the b

I haven’t read any middle grade novels in a few years, but It was just the right length and pace for a quick one-sitting read. Rion finds himself stuck in a “limbo” world alone among the stars after an accident leaves him in a coma. He discovers that his twin sister Bellamie is able to visit him through her dreams, but only for a few minutes at time. Rion is keeping a secret from Bellamie he is desperate to tell her, because he wants her to know she has to let him go but he has no voice in the l ...more

This book grabbed my attention immediately because I love stories about twins and I was heartbroken when one twin (Rion) was in a coma at the beginning of this story. I was intrigued by his twin Bellamie's ability to communicate with him while he is in limbo. This was an excellent middle grade read about sexuality, identity, mental health, and family.

Thank you to Nevermore Press & the author for the finished copy in exchange for an honest review!

I bought this book for my 9-year-old daughter who *needed* to have it after attending the online book launch! She read it very quickly and then insisted that I needed to read it as well. I am so glad that she did!

Sometimes you come across a book that sticks with you long after you have turned the last page. I had an ache in my chest for days after I finished The Stars From Me to You. It was so poignant. Nicole Bea has simply outdone herself with this literary work of art. And while this book is
