Obviously a political book, purchased in the shadow of the Wall, it has sometimes the feel of committee-work. Yet it's not bad, with that caveat. Most interesting is the effort to frame the question between a black-red-white, and a black-red-gold vision of a united Germany, laying the claim that the Bundesrepublik was at least as truly German as either the second or third Reichs.
