Is love really the only thing O'Asia needs to save the waters? Or is that just the tip of the iceberg? O'Asia and Zale need to fall in love, but they're currently surrounded by angry guards ready to uphold the law. Can Odessa succeed in protecting them both? With Emperor Seera now back in open waters, they quickly become more dangerous for one merm in particular, and O'Asia soon realises that the Prince and his love aren't the only things she needs to protect them all... As secrets are uncovered, characters are put to the ultimate test, and it becomes apparent that what they all want and what the water needs, is two completely different things. What was once seen as the enemy, must now become the ally, and what once appeared black and white, now clearly isn't. As unlikely partnerships are made and the waters move closer to being truly free, all rests first on O'Asia grasping her advanced sorcery. But will she succeed in time? And what other abilities will she uncover within herself that will help her on her quest to make the waters perfect again. Mother. Author. Wellness Blogger. Lover of Music. Believer of Romance. Dirty Minded.
LeeSha McCoy is the author of all things African American Romance. She released her first book in 2012 and currently writes African American Urban Romance, Paranormal, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Romantic Comedy, and Steamy Contemporary Romance under the pen name Karmen Kane.
With over 40 books published to date, representation is important to her, so you will always find positive representations of black men and women in her books, with a focus on family bonds, growth, and above all, strong fiery heroines and the heroes that love the hell out of them for it.
Writing novels that make her readers 'feel' is her mission; she does not just write stories to be read, but for her readers to experience. As someone who has lived through many up and downs in her personal life, she uses those experiences in all of her stories, priding herself on the realism in her work, regardless of genre.
She began writing in the late 90's, although it was mostly song lyrics she wrote to escape her loneliness. As one of only a handful of bi-racial children living in her small hometown of Banbury, she struggled to make friends and to be accepted, so she spent most of her childhood alone.
She currently lives in England, but her family is spread all across the United States, including the states of Baltimore, Colorado, and Texas.
As a mother to four beautiful children, she spends her spare time playing Roblox and finding new places to walk with them, helping others discover self-love through her wellness blog, binge reading dirty romances, or watching food review shows on YouTube.
It's a unique spin on mermaid romance and, of course, I love that the main characters are dark skinned. Unfortunately, they speak like they are in an episode of Growing Up Hip Hop and the author can't seem to decide if she wants to use Americanized spelling or British (European?) spelling of certain words. The slipping in and out of the hip hop vernacular is distracting and the lack of consistency in spelling makes it seems as if two different people wrote this story. I want to love this story and I will, most likely, read the third book. I wish the author would use more polished language, befitting the characters. I am Black and I don't speak the way most of these characters speak. No one in my circle of friends does either. I am reading this series specifically because I thought I would relate to the characters but the language makes it difficult.
Things seem to be looking up for O'Asia and Zale as they embark on a journey to make sure the sea waters are as perfect as they were before the turmoil. I love how O'Asia has adapted to being a mermaid so easily and she's eager to learn all there is to know as well as using her powers. Zale is the perfect mate as he encourages and has O'Asia back. With their life in danger, how will Scylla and Calder manage to survive. Can't wait to read how things play out for them and will Darya be found.
First I wanna say I love leesha McCoy her storytelling is out of this world and everyone should read her work. I love zale and asias love u can feel it while your reading. Asia really is a remarkable Odessa she just blows my mind how fast she learns her sorcery. Calder and scylla are turning out to be one of my favorite characters I just hope they understand how real asia is so they can have the best life possible. I cant wait to see what happens in book 3 I love the ride she takes us on. The waters are def pleased with this new odessa. If your reading this review before you try the book I promise you wont be disappointed another 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ read tho I didnt expect anything less great job....
I absolutely love this story. My suspicions were right about Darya. She let that her hatred fuel her and it turned out to be the biggest mistake of her life. I hope they find her. I know they will. I just say Calder and Scylla are a breath of fresh air to this story. Their banter gives the story some relief in between all the drama that’s going on. I have high hopes for them. I know once everything is all said and done Asia will finally be able to relax a while and enjoy her time with Zale. I hope everyone comes out on top and those witches finally cease to exist
This sequel took me back to the Mermaid world and I enjoyed it. McCoy continued to develop the characters throwing in more steam between Odessa and her Prince. The story propelled us further into Odessa discovering her new self and her role while keeping an eye out for those who may harm or deceive her. The story was well structured and so it continued to build on this world and the characters while adding a bit of intrigue. I listened to the audible version and as before the narrator chosen for this series is spot on in bringing the characters to life. Great job.
We got more of the history of what happened, who done it and why. We also got more background of the characters as well as their personalities. Asia and Zale are flourishing in love and in power! Despite all that is going on around them and involving them. It’s getting down to the show down between the witches and the merms and everyone seems to be preparing, strategizing and leveling up. I can’t wait to see what happens to Darya. So much to look forward to and I’m sure book 3 won’t disappoint!
This is my first time reading this author and my first African American Mermaid 🧜♀️ series. I loved the premise, the characters and the world building. However I did find myself skimming through some of the book. I feel like most of the story could have been told in less words. The only real complaint I have is the author switching back and forth between British and English language. I also read a couple of reviews speaking on the amount of profanity and the fact that the merms were cursing 😑. This series had no more profanity than any other average book or tv show. It appeared to be your average dialogue. Nothing was over the top or over done with it. I have decided if I want to continue with books 4 & 5, the contaminated waters series.
This book right here is a must-read I'm not into fishy sex LOL however it makes me want to be a mermaid or live in the sea this book brings you right into it making you imagine that you are in the water and witnessing all the events as usual LeeShaMcCoy has done it again keeping you waiting anticipating and then gives you that good old cliffhanger waiting for but three or however many she decides to put in this series
Wow, I am really enjoying this Perfect Waters series. The books are well written, with great character development and a well thought out plot. I just happened to stumbled upon this series through my suggested readings. I put it off for 3 months because I wasn’t interested in getting caught up in another series. However, the books are so entertaining that I’ve spent my whole weekend caught up. It has been well worth my time and money so far.
The second installment of this book was perhaps more suspenseful than the first because the question of whether Zale and O’Asia will be able to hold onto what they have found in one another is never certain. The royal world McCoy created underwater is beautiful and it is a delightful fantasy escape story with a suspenseful plot. The final installment will hopefully address the cliffhanger on which the second story concludes.
This 2nd installment was worth the wait. You had me laughing, angry and emotional because your writing is so vivid. The flow, the characters, the language everything was on point. Thank you for gifting you talent to your readers! I felt like I was living in the waters with them💕💕💕💕💕
LeeSha McCoy this book right here, it was all that and more. The Love that Zale and O'Asia have for each other is felt all through theis book. The way it ended has me craving for book three. If you haven't read Perfect Waters the first book please do it will not disappoint you.🔥🔥💥💥

Once again I am in awe. As it’s this book I can clearly picture the under water world the author describes and it feels as if it should be on the screen. Can’t wait to read Book 3
Nice change of pace from the stories I usually read. I know each book is leading up to something big happening soon. I am definitely looking forward to continuing the series.
As expected she did a great job again this book. I love her writing style is so descriptive and you feel like you eating a movie instead of reading. Can’t wait for part 3
