There are hundreds of books on the subject of demonology and deliverance ministries. Most of the recently published ones are loaded with cliches and questionable stories. The classics, by authors such as Lester Sumrall and Derek Prince, are timeless and will stand the test of time. I didn't think I would find another author who could add much more of value to the subject -- especially from a Christian deliverance ministry that has enjoyed so much attention from the reality TV element of the news media. Bottom Line: I was wrong. This is an excellent book on the topic, balanced, well written and Biblical. There is a wealth of fresh insight here -- Tom Brown identifies some doctrinal question marks and brings inspirational answers from scripture. His hands-on experience in deliverance rings true -- exactly the kind of experiences I have witnessed first hand in Pentecostal, charismatic and missionary circles during the last 20 years. Like all religious books there will be bones to spit out between the meat. And if you are of the fundamentalist Baptist/Church of Christ disposition or the modernist liberal Protestant persuasion you will undoubtedly declare it all to be heresy anyway but that's a doctrinal problem you have with the New Testament not with Tom Brown. It's a welcome addition to any spirit-filled Believer's library and one I would not hesitate to offer to anyone with questions about this subject.
Excellent through and through with lessons I hadn't learned despite over 20 years as a Christian. Author has an engaging style that goes from deep scriptural teachings to entertaining personal anecdotes.
Because I'm fascinated with the idea of exorcism, this book caught my eye while I was waiting in the pharmacy line. The pharmacist was so slow, I almost didn't have to buy it, but that's beside the point.
I like books like this because they are based on true life stories. I don't feel a need to read fantasy books about demons when all you have to do is go to work everyday and you encounter people who need exorcisms left and right.
Therefore after reading this book, I made sure to pass it on. Very enlightening.
This is one of the most powerful and informative books I have ever read! I love Tom Brown's writing style and I will definitely pick up anything he writes in the future.
