Enchanting Inquiries #3

Fortune Croakies

Sure, I understand, we all have bills to pay. Personally, I could use a bit of extra cash too. But I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t kill for it. At least…not without dark magic influence. And that’s exactly the problem. Dark. Magic. Influence. My first challenge for the day is finding that artifact and putting it under lock and key before it kills anybody else. My second challenge is figuring out how to deal with a bossy frog and a pushy cat. Which of the two do you suppose will give me the bigger headache? Yeah. That’s what I think too. The frog and cat are going to be the death of my sanity. Maybe I should put them under lock and key too.

Fortune Croakies is Book 2 in the Enchanting Inquiries Book Series. I absolutely LOVE this series and its only getting better.

Sam Cheever has such a talent for amazing story telling. I love the details that go into her descriptions which create a life like image for me in my mind as the story plays out.

Naida is a Keeper of Artifacts and doing her best to keep magical artifacts away from the dangerous paranormals.

I absolutely LOVE all the characters in this series. They are humorous and realistic and fun! My favorite has to be the warlock in the frogs shell.

There is so much to love about this book and this series. It is so well written and their are twists at every turn. A laugh out loud mystery that will keep you turning the pages. I cannot wait for the next in the series.

OK, I've said it before, I really enjoy this series ! ! ! It's really funny and well done! ! ! This is Book #2 in the series (and the 3rd that I've read because I was delighted to read the prequel first). This story follows our magical librarian, a sorceress named Naida Griffith. She didn't get her powers until she was 18, and was brought up by a non-magical grandmother. She wasn't into the magical scene, but things began to start following her and well, yes, that's just weird! ! !

Naida is the KoA, Keeper of Artifacts of the magical kind! She receives orders to appropriate these items, which know they are going to be captured and she has to wrangle and corral them; to put them under lock and key so that innocents won't be hurt. This time though it was different! She 'received' objects that she didn't get orders for before, but this time she was to retrieve something that was not harming anyone and an artifact that was poisoning people was roaming free! Has the Universe gone mad! ! !

With the help of her trustworthy, yet sometimes annoying friends (Sebille, a Princess Fae; Lea. the herbalist and witch who lives next door; her familiar, Mr Wicked, and her new friend (?) Rustin and his frog bus in tow she transverses new dimensions to find answers regarding two murders and the missing artifact. She also has the assistance of a most powerful and reluctant witch, but can she be trusted, or is she helping toward her own agenda? Also with murder afoot there is the involvement of police Detective Grym (who was MIA in the last book -sad to say, but we get to really see him in his true form this time).

Naida and her team, with Detective Grym alongside her are searching for answers and a killer. Her skills are not powerful enough, but with determination, heart and a lot of help she manages to stay alive, barely.... She knows she really needs to work on her magical abilities, but she stays up to her eyeballs in trouble... when will she ever have time....

This is definitely a cozy paranormal mystery that'll draw you in and tickle your humor! ! !

Loved this addition to the series. Once again Naida is up to her eyeteeth in trouble. Starting with removing Mr. Slimy from the sink drain, then (reluctantly) offering Sebille a temporary place to live, to retrieving Berbie the VW bug from a junkyard, Nadia's troubles are just beginning. For some reason, retrieval requests are not coming through correctly. Dangerous artifacts are not being put out for retrieval and non-important artifacts (like Berbie) are coming through instead. Nadia has no choice but to attempt to contact the PTB and she starts with dropping in on Madeline Quilleran, which is something that is just not done (at least not if you want to live). From gold coins to dragons, Nadia is going to need all the help she can get to survive this one. Grim will make another appearance and we will finally learn what exactly he is (I'm not telling!).

Overview: Naida and Sebille are on the hunt for a new dangerous artifact. This one is causing decent, hardworking people to go crazy over some fancy coins. Can Naida find the artifact before anyone gets hurt? Or will she and Sebille kill each other due to their current living arrangements?

Dislikes: Magically powerful people in this series seem to have serious temperamental issues. Madeline Quilleran seems to be no exception.

Likes: Detective Grym is back, and still rather helpful.

We also have a giant in this book. Mr. Gargantu runs Enchanted Collateral.

Conclusion: This was a fun story. Too bad that Naida had such trouble finding the artifact. Maybe I'll check out another book in this series. Enjoy the read.

There appears to be trouble in the universe.
Keeper Naida is getting orders for artifacts that aren't really necessary, and not getting the notices for the dangerous ones.

In order to make things right, Naida calls on PTB Madeline to help.
She winds up crossing dimensions, and facing a dragon.

She also is dealing with a cat who may be more powerful than she is, and a frog that's hoping to not be a frog for much longer.

We also learn how Croakies got its name.

In Fortune Croakies Naida, along with her friends, cat and frog, take on the Universe. Naida makes good use of some of the artifacts in her keeping as she searches for the artifact that is poisoning humans with greed. In this adventure, the reader gains a bit more insight into the inner workings of this enchanted universe. In her search for the poisonous artifact, Naida meets members of the Powers That Be, a gargoyle, a stink bug and dragons. I finished the book in one sitting.

Naida is still dealing with magical creatures and artifacts. This time she is adding a dragon into the mix. Naida also goes to another dimension to try to figure out who is causing problems with her notifications. When the universe sends you a notification, you have to pay attention. Can she figure out where an artifact is that is killing people? Some innocent people are getting artifact poisoning and dying. She needs to find it quick before anyone else dies.

I truly enjoyed this book! It had a lot of really
humorous parts that had me laughing out
loud. I love the characters. Especially the
animals and birds. I'd love to have a kitten
like Mr. Wicked! The story line was very
interesting and entertaining. I absolutely love

Getting Even Better

I like the direction the series is going in. Someone or something is causing mayhem and death. I think this book is just the beginning. Don't get me wrong, the murder mystery was solved, but was there more to it? Or is there more to come? Makes me want to continue reading. Yep, sure does.

So much fun with Naida the Keeper of magical artifacts. She deals with all types of characters, such as witches, elves, fairies, giants, dragons…. Her sidekicks Mr Wicked, the cat, and Mr Slimy, the frog are a hoot!

Okay, officially hooked. The characters are just fantastic and very cute. The scenarios are a little implausible, even for a paranormal story. BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER! Naida is a fun heroine, and her friends are delightful. These stories are just FUN.

Cute, but too much play on existing characters. First book in the series was better.

Wonderfully inventive characters, with good depth of character. Would like to see the environment described more, though. These books are a lot of fun.

3.5 stars. This is the best of the series so far, but I don’t know whether or not I’ll continue the series.

This reads more like a middle-school level book.

I listened to the audiobook of this title. Based on my reading of the previous book in the series, I expected to like it more than I did. I think the narrator was the reason for my less than optimal experience - the reading style was much too inflection-free for my tastes and I found my attention wandering from the even, droning tone.

I don’t recommend the audiobook.

Sam Cheever's done it again, I started laughing just reading the intro. Ms. Cheever has a way with her vivid descriptions of people, places and the unexplainable.  You will feel like you are right alongside our heroes.

Naida is a magical librarian (AKA, The Keeper of Artifacts) and she's learning on the job. Not really the best way to keep dangerous magical objects safe and out of the hands of the supernormal community.

When Naida gets a summons to locate an artifact she finds the old race car, Berbie.  She recovers the car, but can't figure what danger this artifact presented. Then when another artifact takes two lives, she doesn't get a summons. What is going on? The Sprite Queen tells her that the last time the PTB had problems it took over 100 years to straighten out. Naida needs to talk to the Powers That Be and find out what the problem is and it looks Naida is going to need Madeline Quilleran's help to find the PTB. Hopefully, she won't Madeline won't zap her before she can plead her case.

This humorous cozy is filled with a variety of characters. We have a precocious, pushy kitten, a bossy warlock stuck in a frog's body, sprites, witches and magical artifacts, along with non-stop laughter.

So get ready to follow some hilarious and scary adventures this this Five-Star cozy paranormal mystery with Nadia and her friends as they try to find out what's wrong in the PTB realm before all h#@l breaks loose.

Leaves you with quite a few unanswered questions

A good read but the plot seemed not only to leave you with a lot of unanswered questions but it also read a bit disorderly and disjointed. Yes the entertainment level was high, it certainly lived up to being quirky and zany but ......... The characters too seemed a bit too, too much. We know that she's a bit out there as is her assistant but in this one they where in another universe completely. You might think that I didn't like this, I did but I want to know who killed Paula, what does the Universe want from her now ......?
A family artifact creates problems for the owners of a Chinese restaurant. The man starts attacking with a cleaver and the wife is murdered. The Universe gets in on the act and sends her and three companions back to the first artifact shop for help and answers. Is the Universe right in thinking that corruption has set into the ruling body of the supernaturals? Or is the Universe itself being corrupted? Where is the artifact? Can they find it and what happens when they do? Plus she has another headache, her assistant has been evicted and she's now staying with her. Worse, she has brought all her furniture in too!

Naida has her hands full in this book. First she gets the order to rescue a magical car, which isn't too bad. But her friend has told her that all of sudden some one she knows, is acting off. She is thinking it is a magical artifact. Naida said she has not gotten an order for it.
There is to seem to be things at play that Naida can understand. She enlists the help of someone she isn't to sure she can trust, Madeline Quilleran.
The universe is sent her a massive message that almost too her out, if not for Sebille. Naida and Madeline go to search what this artifact is and who is responsible. It takes them all to get the person responsible, or they think
Naida is going to work with Detective Wise Grym to catch the person responsible, he is a no nonsense guy. She sees a different side to him.
It will take everyone to take down the other person responsible and they will not believe who and what is the cause.
Rustin is still trapped in the frog, her familiar is still growing doing things she can't believe. I would love for Naida to have a romantic interest that will help move the books as well.
This was a very entertaining book, look forward to see what else Naida and crew are up to in future books

When is the next book? I need to know who is messing with the Universe? Who saw the who done it coming? I missed the clues all together. I was shocked, Great job!!!

I got into trouble laughing out loud in a restaurant reading this book. Not once but several times. People were looking at me. I couldn't help myself, the swear language and events are hilarious!!!!!!

What I do not understand is why the witches have more magic than a magical artifact wrangler! I would think that the librarian would need more to capture the keep the artifact. Hmmm, maybe the kitten will help her grow her abilities as his keeps growing. Were they supposed to grow as she learned her job? But she was not trained properly so....

I am not sure if I trust the passenger on the frog bus. I feel bad for Mr. Slimy, but definitely needs a diet if he keeps getting stuck. I wonder what the kitten's full powers will be when grown, what about siblings too? Will they be reunited to help fix the balance in the Universe?

Madelaine: is she a good witch or a bad witch. This book has me confused now. Not sure what she is up to.

If my questions are confusing then you need o go read the previous books. You will love them.

This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.

Here we have some entertaining wacky magical hijinks including a hair-raising plunge from the clouds and an epic battle with a gigantic bug. You really never know what's going to happen next. This is the first of the series I've read and the premise is great. It's like Warehouse 13 with magical creatures: witches and giants and fairyfolk and... others. You may feel a pleasant shock of recognition meeting one of the livelier collected artifacts.

There is, unfortunately, an artifact-related murder, and the magically-aware detective Grym turns up to hassle our heroine. Later he shows an unexpected side to his nature, though not a romantic side – not yet!

Naida suffers an amusingly exaggerated example of a familiar problem: you impulsively give someone a place to stay for a while and suddenly there they are and their stuff is in your way.

Lots of fun. I'll enjoy reading more of this series.

When Naida was asked to retrieve Berbie, the magical racing car, she was a bit puzzled as to why things were a bit different. For starters, no-one appeared to be ready for her arrival to collect him, and he did not exactly required rescuing either. But when she hears about a gold churning artefact that had been let loose in the human society and she had not received any orders to collect it, Naida knew that the vague feeling that something was amiss was not her imagination. But this time, there was a lot more to that which meets the eye!

A exciting, fast paced adventure with Naida and her friends and familiar up for grabs. I did enjoy this a lot and will be looking out for more from Naida and the crew.

What does a Keeper do to find a rogue artifact? Why, eat egg rolls with a Fairy Princess, of corse! Something bad is going on at Wu’s Chinese Restaurant. The owner, Wu, a normally mild mannered, kind man, is suddenly horribly mean and threatening. Naida and Sebille check things out and things really get bad!
I love the cute curse phrases used instead of real ones. It gave a meaning without being crude. And it made me laugh and smile! The stuff going on with Sebille living with Naida in her tiny apartment is so much fun to read, especially since it’s not me having to live through Sebille’s musical nose whistling every night! Totally enjoyable book!
