Time to Say Goodbye by Barbara Carmichael is author’s account of her travels in India spanned across a decade. The book largely focuses on her friendship with Tarun, an Indian man and his family. A friendship that surpasses cultural barriers, age difference and disposition but beautiful nonetheless.

I especially loved how the author describes the city of Udaipur which is her second love. I have been to Udaipur several times over the years and was able to visualise the lanes, the shops, palaces and restaurants.

It’s a wonderful book, charming and carries with it a sadness and great joy... It’s mostly devoid of the tone a lot of foreign authors take while describing the country which is an added bonus.
I’ll give it a ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5!

Every person has different ways to express their emotion towards their loved ones, and let us not keep it limited between genders, it can happen with anyone, be it with family, friends, work, books, passion, nature, country and many more.
The story begins with an unexpected message that the author (protagonist of the story) received from India which turned her world upside down, she did not know how to react. From here, her narrative begins taking you to her flashback and to those nostalgic days, she spent in India.
So let me share my words on this beautiful yet moving tale of Australian author Barbara Carmichael who recollects her colorful journey she had in India through the eyes of her dearest friend Tarun in her book, Time to Say Goodbye: A Magical Journey of Friendship. From the beginning till the end this book kept me engaged deeply without any hassle. The structure of the narrative brings her friend, city and the country alive juxtaposing it with her personal yet spontaneous perception about the experiences she had in India, in short she shows different India in different chapters. The flow of the tale is brilliantly formed and the essence of ‘personal diary’ is well maintained as if she herself led you to hang on with one.
This book celebrates the love of friendship, companionship, which lasts forever. These days where travel has become more about flamboyance and show off, this account sets a best example about how travel should be executed passionately weaved with emotion, you should live every moment rather than just hanging around with cameras and circulate them on social media frequently.

I am not an avid reader, but I like buying books from Book fair. And this year too I purchased two. One of which I was trying to read for some time. The book ensured a sad ending and as I was going through some negativity, initially I just kept it aside and got immersed in work (as it is i am not that much into books).
Then one day i picked it up and boom, I fell in love with it. Yes, the writer Barbara Carmichael (you are awesome), who also happens to be a painter, literally painted India with her words and you can't help but get glued to know what could have happened to her so perfect family in India? My words are falling short to describe the emotions I went through. The last chapter, Epilogue, brought tears to my eyes. Her articulate words made me so attached with the characters that I could feel the loss.
I have never ever reviewed a book Or a movie for that matter. But I couldn't stop myself from writing this. I can't thank enough the person in the book stall who recommended this book to me. I would suggest everyone to read this if you love Or don't love reading. You will end up loving the idea of reading 💖
