Maelstrom Part III
Obscene tragedies befall Ryan, Tory and the children in Parts I & II. Working with Chris, the rogue MA State Trooper whose wife died from drug addiction, Ryan must decide how far he's willing to go to protect his new family. Is there ever justification for taking the law into your own hands? Chris would be more than happy to just kill them all; he's ex-military, a trained SWAT sniper and seriously motivated.
In Part III of Maelstrom after Edward makes another attempt on their lives, Ryan swears he will put him down like a rabid dog. Will he though, can he? Chris and he become the hunters and track Edward to Miami. After surveilling him for several days they come up with an elaborate plan that includes setting Miami's biggest dealers at each others throats and then taking down Edward and the drug kingpins he smuggles for.
The story follows them as they pursue Edward to the Florida Keys where he is scheduled to meet with the principals. Will Edward be receive "early termination" from his employers for all the attention he's drawn to their operation? Will Ryan and Chris's plan to take them all down work, or will they simply end up dead or in prison for the rest of their lives? Find out in this third and final installment of Maelstrom.
The author is a licensed sea captain who has made over 20 sailing trips between New England, Bermuda and the Caribbean. He has also run larger ships in the oil fields, charter boats in the FL Keys, a ferry in Boston Harbor. He has lived aboard a classic wooden sloop in the Caribbean and sailed in both the Mediterranean and South Pacific. He currently resides in Sarasota, FL with his wife Louise and their two black labs.

Had to abandon half way through
There is much to admire about this book, but not enough to encourage me to finish it. As I age, I am less tolerant of weak character. To a point I have sympathy for those that are gripped by drugs and alcohol. But that empathy evaporates in the absence of will. Too much backsliding, even in fiction, for me to finish the book. I found myself not caring if any of the characters survived. So, I quit reading.

Powerful story on drugs and mayhem. Such terrifying things Tory had to live through. Addiction is truly hard to live with our family knows.
