A Susman & Devil Crime Detective Thriller

Three seemingly unconnected young mothers pack their bags and disappear.

Detective De Villiers becomes suspicious … and then a dismembered body turns up.

Perhaps the missing women didn’t pack their own bags, after all.

De Villiers engages the brilliant, damaged ex-detective Robin Susman, who is reluctant to assist. Susman wants her career fighting gender-based violence exactly where she left it—in the past—but some ghosts refuse to remain buried.

Can the tenacious detective duo find the serial killer before he kidnaps his next victim?

Oh, what a fab little twisty crime thriller this is. Fast-paced and as colorful as the SA setting, with JT’s signature wit and sardonic humour, it’s the perfect read for a rainy Sunday!

I absolutely loved every single nail-biting minute of this book!

Single mothers are going missing, leaving their babes behind. A serial killer is on the lose in Johannesburg, South Africa, and a determined team of detectives and SAP members work around the clock to ensure that the killer doesn’t latch onto his next victim.

The pace seems to move at a break-neck speed as each character has an underlying sub-plot that is woven into the main storyline and ensures there is never a dull moment.

Bought this book with a magazine, I am not big on magazine so I obviously made the purchase for the book and I am glad to say it did not disappoint. Loved the very human flawed SAPS characters the the familiar Johannesburg setting. Not too graphic either.

If you like books with a serial killer and police procedure then this is for you.

A thrilling page turner with fantastic characters. Please tell me there's another novel on its way - in the meantime I'm looking forward to letting the short stories tide me over!

Man, can this woman write a good story!!!

I had read and enjoyed short stories featuring a few of the book's principle characters, particularly Andre De Villiers and Robin Susman, but if there's one thing a book does well it's that it scratches the itch left by the economy of words and lack of background "noise" that is the hallmark of shorter fiction.

I loved getting to know the characters better, feeling their vibrancy and deeply human realness flying off the pages. The main plot line, behind-the-scenes sequences and secondary storylines were all well mapped out and convincing in their detail. This thriller is as smart and well-orchestrated as it is eerie and all too close to realistic non-fiction.

A well-deserved 5 stars from me!

Years back I read JT Lawrence's Sticky Fingers books and really enjoyed all of the Devil and Susman stories. Years later I've finally sat down to read Jigsaw, the story that started it all. Fast paced crime thriller that will keep you at the edge of your seat til the very end. Follow this with the Sticky Fingers series to learn more about our main characters and other cases. Another perk is Jigsaw is based out of Johannesburg, South Africa, giving me a hint of new languange to learn as I read and a setting outside of the usual US and UK in a majoroty of stories. I truly enjoy Lawrence's books and am looking forward to diving into more this year.

This was a great crime detective thriller. JT Lawrence has a knack in creating characters that are lifelike and have all kinds of secrets that jump out and surprise you...
I loved Devil & Suzman & Khaya & Msibi and everyone of the other characters & I really enjoyed the book, I especially enjoyed that the book had a South African setting. I'm definately going to look out for the Sticky Fingers series to get more of Suzman & Devil

This book was given to me and I was unsure if I would enjoy it - well, what a pleasant surprise. It is a well-written detective crime novel that kept me hooked from beginning to end. I enjoyed the Johannesburg setting and the characters were engaging. The case was something you would expect to see in an episode of “Criminal minds”.

I enjoyed the main storyline of the serial killer and the investigation process of tracking him down, his reasoning and the eventual capture. The style of writing was easy, witty and a breeze to read. I felt comfortable with the mixed language spoken. I did however not really enjoy the sub-plots of the police officers and detectives' own personal problems - poorly executed.

I love the concept of the story as well as the way it's written. Perfect for Criminal Minds fans who'd like a little South African twist. The characters are hard not to care for, and the plot is fast-paced and gripping. Hard to put down!

Something disturbing is happening in the suburbs of Johannesburg. First-time single moms are disappearing, apparently abandoning their babies.
Fast-paced, exciting, clever, and scary.

Amazing book taking me back to the craziness of being in Gauteng and all the drama that goes down! Quick read but gripping.
