Gifted Ebook | I thought Clouds Of Shifting Light would resemble an Icelandic Eat, Pray, Love. However, whereas Gilbert truly goes on an inspiring journey to find and better herself, Wright seems to get trapped in negativity, blind white privilege, and cultural assumptions, especially in countries like Mexico as well as parts of the Middle East and Asia.

While well-written with the first few chapters having me in tears--Wright faces more tragedy than anyone should ever have to--this book felt

Carolanne Wright went through something horrendous, something no one should have to experience. Her deep depression, caused by her son's death and exacerbated by additional painful life events and chronic illness, spurred her to embark upon a journey of renewal. Clouds of Shifting Light, besides being an engaging travelogue about Ms. Wright's solo cycling excursion through Iceland, is an honest and searing account of the author's brave journey from anger and depression to acceptance and, ...more

There was no stopping once I started reading this book. I was curious by the end of the first page and drawn into and sobbing my way through the next section describing the sudden death of the author's young son. There is no formula for dealing with grief. It is different and very personal for each of us. "Clouds of Shifting Light" tells of the author's own circuitous journey over many years which is how she ends up on a bike camping trip to Iceland. The writing ranges from heart-wrenching to ...more

Words are just wordsuntil theyre not.

Ms. Wright paints a veritable picture with her words. I could actually see the the beauty she described as if I were her travel partner. Her vulnerability and wisdom grabbed me from the first sentence and stayed with me in my dreams when I had to put her book away for the night. I highly recommend this book for all of us who are searching for happiness in this journey called life.
