Book Reviewed on www.whisperingstories.com

Isadorn lived a peaceful life in her grotto. When Dunfer the Dragon moved in next door she was happy she had a new neighbour, that was until he started to make a mess, snarled loudly at night keeping her awake, and burnt down her favourite rose bush.

Isadorn was upset but she didn’t want to say anything to Dunfer in case he got mad or became sad, but with the help of her friend Lema she realised that by saying nothing she was only hurting herself and so she plucked up the courage to talk to him about the problems.

Isadorn the Unicorn and the Sloppy Dragon is a very sweet young children’s book that covers the subject area of conflict and how to overcome an issue. As well as the lovely story and the amazing, colourful artwork that adorns each page there are some useful tips at the back on how to talk to someone who has done something to upset you.

I agreed with all the six steps that the author states on how to talk to another person who has hurt your feels, from waiting until you are calm to talk to them, to using the word ‘I’ in your speech so that they understand how you feel.

This is a wonderful book that not only contains a beautiful story with some lovely characters but is very education too.

Freaking adorable!

This was just freaking adorable! I loved the easy conflict resolutions that were explained and how simply they can relate to children. It is relatable and acknowledges the importance of everyone's feelings mattering in a situation. I so appreciate the tips it provides to help you feel comfortable with standing up and talking about issues. The questions and explanations at the end are fantastic conversation starters to help children understand the basics of conflict resolution.

The story was wonderful. The artwork beautiful. It was such a darling book and I recommend it highly!

A cute book which showed the importance of how to be honest with oneself and with friends, and how to stand up for oneself if the situation was making you mad and sad.

My first book by this author, the illustrations were all in hues of pink and orange, and they were attractive. The prose was easy to understand and quite fun to read.

Overall, a fun story for kids to 5 to 8.

Isadorn (unicorn) lived in a waterfall cave.
1-day Dunfer (Dragon) moved into the cave next to her.
His front yard was filled with broken treasures & jewels.
He was very noisy at times.
Isadorn began to complain to Lema (BFF) about Dunfer.

Would Isadorn confront Dunfer?

I do not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing free books from publishers & authors. Therefore, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one.

An awesome book cover, great hand-drawn colored pictures, charming illustrations & proper font & writing style. A very professionally written children’s (preschool/elementary age) animal adventure storybook. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s educational presentation (healthy boundaries, conflict resolution), animal adventure movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini-TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.

A beautiful story with colorful and vibrant illustration.
Isadorn the unicorn lived in a lovely waterfall grotto with beautiful rainbow flower bushes. One day Dunfer the Dragon has just moved into the cave next door, Isadorn is really happy to get a new friend but Dunfer make growling noises all day and night., his messy front yard and he's just burned down her favorite rosebush too.
Isadorn's perfect world has been turned upside down due to Dunfer but she doesn't want to hurt him by saying all this.
Can Isadorn figure out how to talk to Dunfer about her problems? Or will her magical unicorn world be ruined forever?
This book is very beautiful inside out and teaches us so many good things like how to convey your feelings so that other people don't get mad or sad with our words.
This book is just perfect for kids as well as adults too. This book includes tips to help children learn about healthy boundaries and conflict resolution, including "I" statements suggested by leading child therapists. Question answer session exercise in the end is an added advantage .
Perfect for ages 4-7.

A beautifully illustrated, thoughtfully written picture book for children. The main theme of the story is conflict resolution and finding your voice to express how you feel when someone does something that hurts you.

The story is easy to follow, as are the messages it conveys. There is an information sheet at the end of the book, outlining the story’s main points and how to relate them to problems your children may have.

There are also discussions points for a child to discuss with their adults.

A lovely picture book to read with your children, or for them to read alone if older. The theme of finding your voice is well described with useful pointers to make the process easier.

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

I like it

I felt it was a nice story with good morals/ life lessons for growing children. Be aware that your actions effect others and don’t be afraid to speak up. My little one didn’t like it though. Maybe when she’s older. However I get the feeling she’s not a unicorn girl. Oh well. Time will tell.

Speak with your voice

This is a cute little story about conflict and being brave enough to face the scary things and let your voice be heard. Also how to handle emotions like anger or fear.

Handling Emotions

This book is great for discussing why holding in anger is not healthy. It shows two friends talking out their problems and working together to make things better.
