Until Hurricane Avery slams into Camellia Beach. Afterward, Stella sniffs out a body half-buried on the sandy beach. Rumors of pirate treasure and ghosts appear to have some truth to

Dollycas’s Thoughts

A hurricane is headed for the island of Camellia Beach and everyone is battening down the hatches and getting ready to evacuate. As Penn looks out over the beach she sees local treasure hunter Joe Davies in the distance talking to a woman. He approaches Penn and tells her he is afraid for his life and hurries away. Everyone, except Penn, thinks the woman was the Gray Lady of legend who is known to walk the beach before a storm. Meeting her could mean tragedy is headed to your

BONBON WITH THE WIND, the much anticipated fourth book in the Southern Chocolate Shop Mystery series by Dorothy St. James, is another entertaining edition to a charming series! This newest release continues the story of protagonist, Charity Penn, who goes by the name of Penn. I love how the author has developed Penn’s character from the very first book and continues her progression through this fourth book. Penn is finally learning to trust her friends and open herself up to love which adds a ...more

Bonbon with the Wind by Dorothy St. James may look like a typical cute cozy on the cover, but there’s a lot of complexity and depth to this story, making for a very enjoyable reading experience. Tightly-knit plot, rich characters, and an atmospheric setting all combine to make South Carolina’s Lowcountry come alive. I found this story hard to put down and highly recommend it.

Penn is a multifaceted lead character and readers of the series will

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the Great Escapes Book Tours. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Bonbon with the Wind by Dorothy St. James is an exciting read about trying to find the motive and person who killed a guy before the storm?
Will Penn and the gang figure out who killed Joe Davies?

Bonbon with the Wind has lots of my favorite things: the beach, pets, a storm, chocolate, a ghost story, and a couple of quirky, elderly sisters named Trixie and Barbie.

Since this is the first book I’ve read in the Southern Chocolate Shop Mystery, I was unfamiliar with Penn and her friends, but thankfully the author weaves the story in a way that not only familiarizes you with the characters but also the backstory. I like how she doesn’t just throw all of that at you at once. She puts it in

Bonbon with the Wind is the fourth book in the Southern Chocolate Shop Mystery series by Dorothy St. James.

A hurricane is heading towards Camellia Beach, SC and the Gray Lady appears. After returning from the evacuation, everyone is busy with the cleanup and dealing with ghost and treasure hunters. And there’s a body, but is it murder?

Penn is still prickly and distrustful, but she continues to grow and learn. I like that the people close to her are calling her out on her hurtful behavior. It is

After a Hurricane slams into Camellia Beach, Penn and Stella discover a body washed ashore.
Could it be tied to a local legend about a Grey Lady from the Lake who is a harbinger of death?
Or is there a murderer walking among the residents? With tales of pirate treasure and buried gold attracting gold diggers galore, can life return to normal as Penn seek out the truth?
I liked how the characters have grown within this series. The scene is wonderfully described.
We feel the emotion and struggles and
