3.5 "Okay Lana Del Ray. Everything doesn't have to be so depressing." Stars

I’m pretty sure this is the authors debut, and that considered this was a pretty good read. It’s a mafia read and there are some dark themes, but it’s also sort of funny. Remy and Beverly are a married couple going through some unique trying times. Not everyone can say their husband is in the mafia and maybe has to do things that are unforgivable. The romance was sort of slow burn considering this is a married couple trying to fix things. The banter had it’s witty moments, and at times it cracked me up. I didn’t feel a super deep connection with the characters, because this one was quick, but I was invested and wanted to know how their story would end.

All in all this was a great read. If you’re looking for quick mafia, with mild heat, and some funny bits, then My Heart is one to try out!

This was a really good mafia story that took a few surprising turns that I loved. This follows Beverly and Remy who even though they really love each other there’s major reasons on why they separated but they can’t get one another out of there system and little do they know there’s hands in what happened.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My Heart is the first book in the Bloody Business series. It had just the right amount of action and drama to hold my attention, tender and sweet moments that had me swooning, and left me feeling all warm and tingly inside.

I really enjoyed reading My Heart. The storyline was intriguing and had me flipping the pages to find out why Bev was heartbroken and felt betrayed by Remy. There was suspense, action and mystery and left me feeling warm and fuzzy with the extent of love Remy had for Bev, and how he would do anything to have her again.

Mmm mmm Remy. Sexy, tattooed, alpha mob boss who has a heart of gold and a sweet and affectionate side. Yes please! I adored Remy. The love he shared for ‘his heart’, ahhh gave me goosebumps.

Bev is such a strong willed heroine. I mean she would have to be to be married to a mob boss. She’s sassy, a little quirky and shares hilarious scenes with her ‘innocent’ dog Dylan.

My Heart is the first book that I have read by AJ Wolf and it definitely won’t be the last. I am so excited to read Delaney and Donatello’s story next.

I don’t think I’ve ever been happy to be late to a party like I was with this story. I read the prequel Mine back in October 2020 and fell in love with Remy and his Cuore Mio, Beverly. Their love story draw me in and left me swooning. With My Heart having been published in November 2019 - as the authors debut novel, I was lucky to experience this couple from the very beginning.

It’s been a few months and the love story I experienced in MINE is still with me. From the blurb for My Heart, I had to mentally prepare myself to experience the adult version of this marriage. I wanted the happy couple I previously met to continue. I wasn’t ready for heartbreak.

“𝑴𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒏𝒐 𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆, 𝑪𝒖𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝑴𝒊𝒐. 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒆. 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒚 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒕 𝒏𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕. 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒚 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒑𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒚 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒆. 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒚 𝒘𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝑴𝒚 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕.”

The conclusion to this couples story shows you exactly how marriage and family are hard. You will hold your breath while screaming at the book. You will hurt when they hurt and be angry right along with them. Bev is a force to be reckoned with and she holds nothing back. Remy does anything humanly possible to protect his Cuore Mio to the detriment of himself at times, but that love is fierce.

And I can’t leave without mentioning DYLAN 🖤 he stole the show with his antics. I absolutely loved how everyone was afraid of this little 110lb pup of Bev’s, especially Andrea!!

This was a cute, fun action packed mafia romance. I absolutely adored Remy. I found this book was filled with grammatical errors which really bothered me but it was a cute story. I’m looking forward to Delaneys story.

I LOVE FINDING NEW AUTHORS

I wasn’t sure how much I was gonna like this, because mafia is tricky to do, but Wolf hit it out of the park.
Started on such a sad note, then I was angry, then I was sad, then happy, then repeated the cycle.
However, I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest.
Bev was not about to take any crap, holding out for when things felt right to her, and she gets a round of applause for that.
We all know Mafia men tend to not want their wives to be people, but Remy accepted his wife, even when she was refusing him.
I can’t wait to read the next book!

Okay, I'll be the first to admit that mafia romances are not must reads for me. I tend to lean towards different tropes, but I was really impressed with this one. AJ Wolf had me instantly drawn in and created a story that I found myself easily immersed in.

I loved Bev and her dog, they just made me smile anytime they were together. Beverly is going through some stuff, I feel for her. I don't know if I could be that forgiving given the circumstances but I sympathize. She was sweet and feminine but also snarky and a badass, my kinda girl if I'm being honest.

Remy is kind of a dick but he is also hopelessly in love with Bev and put in a pretty impossible position. I feel for him a bit, he is in a rough spot but how tender he is with Bev had me swooning all over. Plus he is Italian, so that definitely adds a sexy bonus point.

I loved these two, I wish we would have got a bit more. I enjoyed their chemistry and also their banter. Plus I need more of Bev's dog terrorizing his men, literally LOL moments.

STORY:
“My problem isn't that I hate my husband, it's that I love him so deeply I'd slit my throat if it meant sparing his.”

I am so lucky my friend pushed me to read this book! After reading the prequel (which was slow and felt like it was written by a completely different author), I’d had no desire to read the rest of the series. Because I was “buddy reading” the box set with a friend, she told me how different this book was from the prequel, how much better it was, and informed me that it was actually written before the prequel. Needless to say, I would’ve missed out on a great story if I had judged this entire series on the prequel!!!

Although this is one of the worst proofread books I’ve ever read (see details below), I was consumed by the story from the very beginning!! I can’t pinpoint exactly what it is that I liked so much about the way Wolf wrote this book, I just know that I loved the way the story made me feel!! The characters and their emotions consistently felt genuine and real. There’s also a lot of action happening in this book, suspense that had me eager for more! If I could change anything about this book, I would have made the details more graphic, especially the darker scenes. Overall, though, it’s a really great story, and I am excited to read Delaney’s book next!

REVIEW OF EDITING/PROOFREADING:
As I already mentioned, this book is in desperate need of a professional proofread. I honestly believe Wolf only inserted commas where she wanted to indicate a pause, perhaps not even aware there are “rules“ for punctuation, grammar, etc.. For specifics, continue reading ...

There were incorrect words such as using TO instead of TOO, ANY WAY for ANYWAY, MIGHT even though it should’ve been MAY, EXCLAMATION for EXPLANATION, LOCK DOWN for LOCKDOWN, and ONTO even when it should’ve been ON TO.

According to the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS), ellipses should have spaces on either end. However, Wolf sometimes used ellipses with spaces on just one end or neither end. In addition, these ellipses were not used as they are supposed to be, instead substituted for en dashes, commas and sometimes even for periods. Similarly, semicolons were not used appropriately, also used to replace other forms of punctuation. There were many sentences that contained multiple semicolons as well. In fact, there were quite a few run-on sentences – one sentence went the entire length of my Kindle page!

Apostrophes to indicate possession with words ending in the letter S were not notated correctly and there were words that were capitalized that should not have been (for example, “They are clearly playing Tug.”). There were sentences with the extra words (“he be broke my soul”), several sentences with missing letters or the wrong word (“I squirm under is gaze,”), and there was even one sentence that began in lowercase (“looking up,”).

Regarding commas:
-There were no commas after introductory phrases (“Spinning on my heel I stomp towards the staircase,”)
-There were no commas before any pronouns, even names of characters (for example, “Who do you think it is Dylan?”)
-The FANBOYS rule was not followed
-Commas were inserted after all coordinating conjunctions at the start of sentences even though they shouldn’t have been
-Commas did not follow introductory terms such as OH at the beginning of sentences (for example, “Oh good idea” should have been, “Oh, good idea”).
--Commas did not offset interrupters in the middle of a sentence such as THOUGH
-Commas we’re not inserted between multiple adjectives (for example, “Giant old iron windows”).

***Anyone can hire a proofreader, but talent cannot be purchased which Wolf has in spades! She just needs a proofreader to make sure her eloquent stories follow all the rules!***

‘Remy is my artist; piece by torn piece gluing me back together and creating a mosaic that is even more beautiful than before, like a watercolor’s blended seams.’

💞

I am an absolute sucker for a Mafia storyline and so when I saw tonnes of people recommending this book I knew I had to give it a go! Although it was on the lighter side of what I’m used to it really was a beautiful story. It is so refreshing to read about a mafia boss who absolutely adores his wife and Remy really does treat Bev like a queen (apart from the kidnapping part but really if you’re going to be kidnapped by anyone you’d want it to be your own husband right?). Bev is also a total badass and doesn’t take crap from anyone. She’s been trained in this mafia life so she’s not naive. She is sassy and fierce and with her loyal dog Dylan by her side she’s undefeatable, or so I thought.....

Even though this was a short book it was packed with love, lust, drama, fights and betrayal. The storyline was exciting and fast paced and ended absolutely beautifully. I cannot wait to read book 2 and find out more about Delaney and Donatello!!

This was my first book by AJ Wolf and I can tell it won’t be my last. I loved her writing style and the way she built these characters in such a short space of time.

💞

"Make no mistake Cuore Mio, you are mine. You are my first thought of the day and the last at night. You are my only passion and my most beloved treasure. You are my wife and you are my heart." Our lips are a fraction apart as he leans down even more, tilting my face closer to his. "I've tasted your lips, worshiped every inch of your body, experienced your sleepy side, happy side, sad side, every side. I've stood under the light of your beaming smile and I've burned under your wrath. No matter who you're with, where you are, what you're doing, your thoughts will always be of me just as mine are of you. Because you. Are. Mine."

Mafia romances are one of my weaknesses. And a story like this one BEGS to never be forgotten.

"Make no mistake Cuore Mio. You are mine. You are my first thought of the day and the last at night. You are my only passion and my most beloved treasure. You are my wife, and you are my heart."

In the Mafia world, Remy can be perfectly described as an exception. Not all can be as devoted as he is with the love of his life. As passionate as he only can be with his forever. As madly in love as he is with Bev.

Remy is an A. L. P. H. A mob boss who is not afraid to show the power he has on his hands, but when it comes to Bev, everything changes. He will clear all the paths he'll come across with and beat every single one of his enemies if that means keeping his beloved wife to his side. No matter the price.

but losing Remy would completely destroy me.  It would crumble my heart to dust and squeeze the life from my lungs.

Bev is a strong woman. Being the wife of a dangerous man as Remy is, it's not easy. She is definitely not a damsel in distress. She is capable of defending herself if she needs to. Even if that person has to be her own husband. But she is caring and brave. She knows her love will always face challenges but she is not afraid to face them.
Loving Remy is her curse but also her salvation.

My Heart is a action packed story that will grab your attention from the very first page and won't let you go till the very end.

AJ Wolf has a bright future ahead of her. I think she can definitely improve even more her writing and can create amazing worlds that will keep us all at our toes.

My Heart by AJ Wolf is a dark/mafia romance and is the first book in the Bloody Business Series.

The book follows the relationship of Beverly and Remy. Remy has recently made some decisions that have completely shattered Beverly heart. After three long months of them being separated, Remy decides it’s time for Beverly to come home. But will Beverly be able to forgive Remy? Will Remy be able to protect Beverly from being a pawn in his bloody business?

I loved everything about this book. It was suspenseful, exciting, romantic as fuck and at times funny. I highly recommend reading this if you love swoon worthy mafia men and strong sassy women.

Absolutely love this book!
Remy and Bev! God, I love them. They are relationship goals. Remy knows what he wants and he’s willing to let Bev catch up but he won’t give up on them.
Then there’s Dylan. He’s not just a character. No spoilers here but I freakin love Dylan. He’s a foul mouth mofo just like Bev. Read this book and you’ll understand 100%
😂
I highly recommend this read.
Bev is a strong woman but the thing I really appreciated about her is that she’s strong but not too strong. She’s not in-your-face with independence nor is she nauseatingly meek. It’s a fine line that AJ walked perfectly.
I also love the style of AJ’s writing and her flow is on point.
Nothing but love for this book

This was a well written mafia story that I enjoyed.

The story is about Remy and Beverly a married couple who are estranged. Great strong characters. However not for long.

I really would have liked to know more of their backstory.

I really liked some of the secondary characters and can’t wait to jump into book two.

Absolutely amazing read!

This was my first book that I had read by AJ Wolf. I fell so in love with it within the first 5 pages that I could not put it down! It was also my first mafia-related romance book.
I love the relationship between Remy and Bev.

This book had my emotions all over the place. I started the book hating Remy and growing to love him by the end of it. And I loved that Bev was an extremely independent self-sufficient woman that didn't need anyone to protect her, but at times still had the softer side of her that needed Remy.
My first 5-star book in a very long time, definitely suggest to read this book!

This is the debut novel by AJ Wolf and I adored it!

For a mafia romance with some darker themes, this felt like a lighter read. It focuses on the fractured marriage between Beverly and Remy Luciano. Picking up 3 months into their separation, you feel the ache and love they still have for each other. This one was a sweet slow burn and fit the storyline perfectly. Would I have loved more steamy moments because I like things dirty-YES. But the story felt complete as is. It doesn’t feel like the story is missing anything because their relationship is still so..intimate throughout the story without the physical aspect.

I fell hard for these characters and their love for each other. They had such sweet chemistry even at the lowest part of their relationship.

I’m told the author’s working on a prequel and I can’t wait! I’d love to know how their love story began and see their relationship develop into the achingly beautiful love we see in this book.

My Heart is a well crafted love story with a little action, just the right amount of heartache, and all the delicious feels! Highly recommend!

This the first book I’ve read from A.J. Wolf and I know it won’t be my last. My Heart completely sucked me in. This book revolves around Beverly and Remy, who are already married. However, Remy does something that completely shatters Bev’s heart. Will she be able to forgive him for what he has done?

My Heart is a mafia romance. You’ll get sucked into this world completely. I absolutely loved Bev and Remy as a couple. They had so much chemistry and despite Remy being the Capofamiglia the man had a sweet side a mile long when it came to his wife. I loved that Bev wasn’t just some weak little mafia wife. She is a fighter, she can hold her own and that was proven several times throughout this story. She isn’t afraid of the mafia life.

The secondary characters in this story are also fantastic and there were plenty of glimpses into them and their lives for future books. This story packed in the suspense, the heat and a few laughs. I can’t wait to see more of all these characters!

“You know we aren’t divorced. And even if we were, I’d still want you…its only ever been you.” - Remy

My heart is entertaining and kept me turning the pages until the very end. It is a mafia romance that is told in dual POV. It tells the story of Beverly and Remy, a married couple, who very much loves each other but is separated due to a betrayal. As they try to find their way back to each other, a whole lot of heartbreak as well as outside forces are plotting against them. Can they find their happily ever after?

To be honest, this book was SO GOOD but I had a hard time with the star-rating. I love the suspense, the moments of hilarity that are sprinkled in and the utter devotion you can feel these two have for each other. Throughout the book, however, I couldn’t help but think this was the second book in a series that ended on a cliff-hanger or that I was missing something.

There is a background to their relationship, marriage and eventual separation and yet we are given none of it. We start at the point of separation and I can’t help but feel this book could have been extraordinary if only we could’ve experienced the buildup to this separation. The feels and the story would’ve been more poignant and impactful knowing how Bev and Remy’s relationship came to be as well as how close Bev was to her twin.

That is not to say this story was not amazing, it was. The funny moments as well as the love and friendships make these characters feel real. I became so invested that I cannot wait to read about the other characters in the book and their respective stories.

From the beginning, I pegged Bev as a fighter and she did not disappoint. She fought for her independence, her relationship and even her life. I couldn’t have asked for more from her character. Well, maybe for her to be a little less stubborn.

Remy by contrast is your regular mafia man. Alpha, demanding, sexy and protective. What he feels for Bev was made abundantly clear from the beginning and he fought with everything he had for her, their life and her love. Definitely swoon-worthy material right there.

This is the first book I read by AJ Wolf. She definitely made an impression and I will be reading more from her.

I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

My Heart by A.J. Wolf is book one in the Bloody Business series. From page one you are thrown into the life of Remy and Beverly, a married couple who are fighting to keep their marriage going through trauma, forgiveness and lack of understanding. Bev is called home by her husband Remy as he feels like she has had enough time by herself, licking her wounds which she feels he has caused. Here in starts the drama of them picking up where they left off, with Remy and Bev coming to some home truths about their whole situation.

This book is a mafia themed book and we can see that as a reader through the actions that both Remy and Bev have to do to stay safe, alive and to get answers. It is heart-breaking to learn what Remy has done to keep not only Bev safe but also his ‘family’ where blood is thick and decisions have to be made based on the rules, not the heart.

Bev and Remy’s relationship are both complex and intriguing as you know that they both care for each other and have strong wills! Remy is the tattooed, bad boy of the mafia but he also has a soft side when it comes to his wife. Bev, although going through the loss of someone close to her, she has the snark and sass of a strong-willed heroine which I love to read about.

There is so much going on in this book, not only from the dog (who is awesome) but also from other characters such and Donatello and Andreas who give back as good as they get to both Bev and Remy, but also shows a strong bond of family.

This is definitely a series that you’re going to want to read!

I DEVOURED these 185 pages. For this being AJ Wolf’s first published novella I was impressed with how quickly I formed bonds with not just the main characters, but the side characters as well. She dove right into the meat of the story and I was caught off guard with much I adored this world she’s created within just the first quick 30 percent of the way in.

Remy is cocky, inked, sexy AF and dangerous as hell being Capo Famigila. Beverly who is just as equally fiery as him, a foul-mouthed eccentric badass I instantly fell in love with. Even before becoming his wife she knew this life, knew who she married but that doesn’t mean after being involved for so long it can’t rip her to shreds. When Remy has to make call with the potential to ruin them he does what he has to do and she hates him for it... yet she can’t stop loving him. The chemistry between these two is so sizzling it’ll make you yearn for them to fully reunite. I NEEDED Remy and Bev to be okay. I NEEDED them to make it out of this in one piece. There was one part where I was literally holding my breath, almost scared to read the next sentence. Oh and did I mention Bev had a kickass pup too?

AJ Wolf may be new to the game but I have a feeling she is here to stay. Mafia romance is my favorite trope and I’m truly looking forward to what’s to come from her mind.

My Heart was a really surprising book!
It was a gorgeous story and was not what I was expecting at all.
Bev and Remy are the definition of true love. A mafia love story where the mafia king is head over heels in love and idolises his wife. The love they have for one another is out of this world and honestly gave me butterflies. His words so sweet and were full of love and adoration.
We started the story with Bev running from her husband because of something he did. It painted a specific picture and I expected Remy to be this cold and heartless guy but when we were finally introduced to him, my heart couldn't take it. He is anything but. Well to her at least. As head of the Mafia, he is ruthless and does what he needs to do.
My Heart is one of those books that you will feel so many emotions while reading. Part of the story is heartbreaking but at the same time it is such a beautiful love story. I loved the humour around Dylan and the side characters make you want to know more about them.
Being a mafia romance, of course there is a little action. It wouldn't be a mafia book without it.
A quick read that will leave your heart full and bursting with happiness.

Review of My Heart by AJ Wolf

My Heart is a story that could have easily stretched itself into a duet with just Remy and Beverley's story. Instead the book starts in the middle of the action. This move could have easily been alienating but instead draws you into the story more fully. Remy and Beverley are well written. I loved Dylan and Rico. Both characters really made me laugh. My only criticism of the book is that there aren't a lot of characters so figuring out who the bad guy wasn't hard. That being said the enjoyment of the story is Remy and Beverley reconnecting. This is a strong 4 out 5 star book. I'm looking forward to reading Delaney's story next.

Trigger warnings: Violence, it's a mafia romance it's pretty expected. Overall the violence is well written and not over the top.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ok, so maybe kidnapping your wife to come home doesn’t initially scream “healthy relationship”, but you quickly brush that under the rug cuz...Remy 😍 Drastic times call for drastic measures and I feel you, boo! His absolute love for Bev is the stuff great love stories are made of!⠀

Bev is a a force to be reckoned with. She starts out rightfully devastated by her husbands actions, but Remy will not give up on their love and spends his time proving that to her⠀

AJ Wolf, thanks for making us all want to say eff it and run out and find a hot mafia boss like Remy!!!⠀

Yall i was a little torn with this one. Beverly left her mob boss Remy after he killed her twin brother Jillian. But 3 months later he like kidnaps her back.

So I was oh could I love the person who killed my brother? Man, idk. At the same time Beverly and Remy are absolutely in love with each other. Seriously, Remy is down right adorable in his love for Bev. And to be fair this is mob business and they just can't be held to the same standards right?

In the end, I couldnt help but want them to be together. The problem with that is Bevs got herself a stalker. He wants her for himself.

My Heart was a pretty quick read. Also it ignited my sweet tooth hahaha. It had everything I love in mafia romances. Including a HEA. I am looking forward to reading the next book. Its about Remys little sister.

My Heart was an interesting read since it had a great original twist, with many hilarious moments. First of all, it was hitting me hard in the feels from the jump & my emotions were off & running like crazy. Beverly was married to a man in the mafia, Remy, but they separated from a betrayal. After 3 months passed, Remy decides that it's time for his wife to come home, so let the games begin. See, Bev isn't one to take crap from anyone, so things get chippy in the process. Good thing about Remy, despite some of the things he did, was that he actually treated his wife like a person not a possession for the most part, and they're definitely explosive together. Here's the thing, he absolutely enraged me a ton, so there's that. I don't want to get into more detail, so just hit those one click buttons to experience this very good debut for yourselves. I CANNOT WAIT to see AJ Wolf develop as she goes along, and HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

“Here’s the thing I’m a lover of mafia romances. Yes, I admit it so when I read the blurb almost inmediatly knew that I needed to read this and OMG this was so incredible! I’m out of words! A.J. Wolf was a new author to me so I wasn’t sure how this will developed but I absolutely adored it. I’ve read so many books and every couple is somehow different with their own special things and let me tell you that Bev and Remy… they were something unique and lovely. Remy he had that soft side for his wife that just made me love him more and Bev, well let’s just say that she knows exactly where she’s and dealing with it didn’t scared her. This story had me laughing, on the edge and in love. A must read!”

I always tell myself that I’m not a fan of Mafia and Mob romance novels, but I’m a sucker for them.I recently read AJ Wolf’s My Heart and was very happy. First off, I absolutely love Remy. Even though he’s the one at the top he never hid his feelings or shied away from Bev. He is caring, passionate and ultra Alpha male. It takes a few chapters for us to really understand the dynamic that Remy and Bev have and once you find out their connection and the problem between them, you wonder, how will this fix itself.
This story is about so many things. Love conquering all or being the all might force, forgiveness and understanding, a little murder, a little kidnapping, but nothing too concerning for the Capo Famiglia and his Cuore Mio.

I was a bit confused when I first started reading because you’re immediately hit with so many things. It took me a second to figure out what was happening.
Once I did, I really got into the characters and the book. I fell in love.
I wasn’t too sure about Remy at first, but I couldn’t help but love him. The way he was around Bev, and the way he constantly worried and thought about her. Awww I love it so much 😊
I loved the humor as well! There were these one liners that just had me bursting with laughter.
I can’t wait to read the next one!! ❤️

What a great mafia romance and debut book for this author ! I LOVE a mafia romance with all the twists and turns and this book didn’t disappoint! This story follows Remy and Beverly, there married and are separated due to problems they are having but seem to really love each other. This is a sweet slow burn romance with some dark themes and this couple I fell for instantly! The chemistry between these two, the love they have for each other was very beautiful and told beautifully. I definitely felt the emotions coming of the pages that these characters were feeling and that too me is good writing and makes for a great story ! Definite must read and definite 5 stars from me !
