Oh snap - I loved this!
I don't think I've ever started a book written by G. Bailey and been disappointed by anything in it. Shadowborn Academy was no exception. Definitely enjoy this from the beginning to end. Corvina's character was completely interesting but she wasn't the only one. Heck, even this whole world was interesting.
Not surprising that she starts meeting her little harem once she goes to school. It also didn't hurt that all of them were completely yummy and head over heels interested ...more

AHHHH! I usually don’t DNF books, and if I do I typically don’t leave reviews, but when I saw this book had an average 4 star rating, I thought I should at least say my peace.
Honestly, it’s my fault for not enjoying this one. It’s a reverse harem paranormal romance, but I got WAAAAY too excited when I saw that it was about “Shadowborns” and I thought it would be a whole lot darker than it was.

In our series of "Hit and Miss, the Academy Sagas", this was a definite miss.
I love G. Bailey, but this book wasn't as polished and as well written as it could have been.
I'll keep this short. No spoilers. The "misses" in this book were:
- Weird/Boring world building: Mostly, the places/buildings seemed very 'fantastical' and sometimes just like every other academy book. But there was a loooot of descriptive writing, and it got boring at times. And there were several loooong-winded info dumps abou ...more

Of course pairing up these two authors, you are guaranteed a hit!!! I enjoy each author separately, so when I found out that they are collaborating again I was very happy. The Dark Fae Academy is promising to become a favorite with me.
In Shadowborn Academy we have Corvina, who is a shadowborn. Usually becoming a Shadowborn is extremely not fun, to die horribly. Sent to the academy to learn how to unlock her magic, but at least she is not going alone. Her best friend gets to come along. Who do yo ...more

Holy cliffhanger 💀
RH- but nothing more than kissing that happens in book one.
Hoping for more spice in book two.
All in all an interesting read to get some more answers !!

Well. That was awful.
I kept getting the characters confused. Grammar was appalling throughout, and the story line was obvious, basic and boring. Disappointed that I actually waited for this to come out. It's also like young adult with a single sexual situation that doesn't go anywhere and a lot of swearing. Originally the impression I got was that it wasn't YA and it was an adult book. So yes as I said boring. ...more

I wanted to like this book and I think under normal circumstances I probably would have. I just think that the timing wasn’t right for me to read this. I was struggling to understand things as I felt like a bunch of the characters and the plot lines were being thrown together at once. I might I try to come back to this later and I’ll hopefully like it more

Reverse harem romances have been a really guilty pleasure for me in 2019. I never in a thousand years would think I would like this type of thing, but it has completely captivated my interest. I can't believe that I am going to say this because I have read some really amazing RH romances, but this was the best start to a multiple love interest romance that I have ever read. It was so perfect!

Received ARC from Author for Honest Review.
I Give this Book a 3.5-4/5 Star Rating, Listing as 4.
Cliffhanger(?): Absolutely!
Romance: kinda like a teeter totter so..3-3.5/5.
Heat: 2/5, Not as Much as I was Anticipating (due to previous books). But it actually fits the story cause the story line is very important.
Suspense: 5/5 In All Honesty I’m still trying to figure it out, when I encountered the cliffhanger! Now I Gotta wait for Book 2!
Drama: 4/5
No Spoilers.

I loved this book! IT starts with Corvina getting tricked by a faerie and almost dying and then coming back shadowborn.. I literally don't need to tell you anything else.. pick it up on that alone. She has to go to a shadowborn academy to learn about her new world and of course that's where she meets her men.
I loved this book. It was an interesting story with interesting characters and to die for men. I can't wait for the next book! ...more

Shadowborn academy..I downloaded you basically from you’re beautiful cover art. This book was good and I will read the rest of the series.
This book has ALOT of detail but I kinda felt like it wasn’t needed. I needed more info on the characters..I liked them but I’m not connected to them. I love the world in this book I just neeeeeded so much more. And I am hoping the other books give me that connection n information I need.

Ahhh! This book was Amazing!! Once I started reading, I just couldn't stop! I got lost in this world of Darkness and Magic, it was so consuming! I've read these two authors separately, this is my first book of them together and They Killed It! Bailey is a Magic Guru and Snow is a Darkness Queen, together they are just spellbinding! The world-building is alluring, it's like Hogwarts meets Greek mythology on crack with a whole lot of Sexy! The details don't bog you down, from the forest to the aca

DNF 27% Might be because I have been reading too many of these Academy books recently but it just wasn't doing it for me. The introductions to new characters felt flat and her interactions with them seemed off, like disingenuous maybe, which made it hard to get a read of who she was as a person, they put negative emotions that would she need to be overcome in as an afterthought almost but not tied into her thoughts and actions. Just didn't feel cohesive. May try again at a later time.

Spoiler alert!!
I wanted to like it, as I do each book I read, but the relationship between Corvina and Pitch is creepy when you consider she was 8 when he became part of her and the naked/bathing bits are questionable as a result.
The other objectionable parts are the counsellor/psychologist and teachers crossing the line to touch and sexually engage with students in their care. That’s a big NO. These are young women of 18! Like many other young women, men have taken advantage of t ...more

This has a big scene at the beginning. Then everything died down with little to nothing happening. Through our the the book there are small things that take place, but nothing wowing. I think this book was okay, but I'm not interested enough to read book 2.

The first chapter in this book for me was heartbreaking and full of emotion that made me want to keep reading! It is a great start to an exciting new series from a unique new world. The characters are all so different, complex and interesting and it made me want for more as soon as I finished. Cannot wait for book two!

I am addicted to these 2 authors!!!!!
I am loving this writing duo between Gem and Scarlett!!! This is the 2nd book of theirs that I have read and it is fantastic!!! Granted they have only released 2 co-writes so far, but I’ve still read all of them. 😁
