A Highlander is Coming to Town by Laura Trentham

Highland, Georgia series book 3. Contemporary romance. Can be read as a stand-alone romance. Previous book primary characters do make cameo appearances.

Claire took a caretaker job in Highland, GA after quitting her singing lead in the Scottish band. Holt helps Claire with a flat bicycle tire and the two find their attraction growing the more time they spend together.

An engaging romance rich with phrases like “The oblivion of pleasure was nigh.“

I wanted to like A Highlander is Coming to Town, but I struggled to care about this poor little rich girl romance.

I haven't read the first two books in the series by Laura Trentham, but I think it works as a stand-alone. There are MCs from past books that are woven into this story, but the focus on the book is mainly on Holt and Claire. Which, to be honest, may not have been a good thing...

The story wasn't a bad one, but the chemistry just fell really flat. It all seemed so forced. Claire was e

Sweet and romantic with a touch of heat.
When you are in the mood for a light-hearted, easy contemporary romance with a touch of flair, this is the one to choose. While this is a third in a series book, it can definitely be read as a stand alone.

Holt really made this story. He is kind and caring without being overwhelming or over bearing. He takes everything in stride and perfectly balances the gruff, standoffish feelings you get from Claire.

Claire wants to hide and not call

Holt Pierson, the sexy, neighbor farmer of Izzy's, has been a little down in the dumps lately. He was half in love with Izzy before Alistair scooped her up and his parents have retired to travel the US in an RV leaving him solely responsible for the farm. On a stormy night he picks up a stranded woman, and get a lot more than he expected. I had such high hopes for this book an

Christmas comes early in Laura Trentham’s latest, A Highlander is Coming to Town. A light hearted romance set in Highland, Georgia is the third in a series but works as a stand alone. Claire is our heroine, a prickly, private, Scottish young women hiding out after leaving her band as the lead singer. The juxtaposition between her and our hero Holt, Georgia boy through and through who falls for Claire unapologetically, is striking. Holt works to get closer to Claire, Claire pushes back against ge ...more

An actual Scottish person comes to Highland, Georgia, to run from her family responsibilities (so mysterious.) She meets a man who is the arch enemy (kinda) of the woman she works with and they have instant chemistry.

I try to find a few holiday romances to recommend every year but this one has too many inconsistencies and plot holes. The big secret ends up as no big deal and some very dramatic things that happen come out of nowhere and also aren't followed up on.... it just doesn't work. It kind

A fun, light, romantic comedy, Laura Trentham’s A HIGHLANDER IS COMING TO TOWN takes the holiday theme, a small town with quirky residents and two people, seemingly opposites and stirs up a delightful and quick read to cozy up with.

Holt is kind, caring and one of those people who does what is expected of them and sometimes it may not mesh with what HE wants to do. Claire is the lead singer in a Scottish band who is hiding out in Highland, holding on tight to many, many secrets. Too bad Holt is d

Since his parents left to travel the country, Holt Pierson has been left to manage the family farm, his eventual inheritance, on his own. He’s always been content with following the expected path, but lately he’s been inescapably lonely with no one to share his life with.

Having just left her band, Claire Smythe has decided Highland, Georgia, is the perfect place to disappear. She needs time to figure things out and between the small town and her assumed name, she should be safe from her

This was such a pleasant story. As a Georgia girl who has been to Highland I was so excited to dive in.

I am.a sucker for a second chance story. Claire going out for what she wanted, even though she was scared was such a great storyline. I adored Claire.

Holt was dreamy and the chemistry he had with Claire was off the charts. I love that this qualifies as a "holiday book" but really I would encourage you to devour it anywhere.

When I got a request to read this by the publisher, I was a little dubious because of the cover. But I decided not to judge a book by its cover and give this a chance. After all, I was in the mood for an easy and fun romance. Or was I?
Sometimes I wonder if I can still read straight romance novels. Some of them just seem so basic... It's always the same format. Or it just feels like it, I don't know.

A "Highlander is Coming to Town", by Laura Trentham (St. Martin’s Press), features a great hero, a regular guy who, besides being the handsome, sexy guy we expect, is also a good man, unashamedly pining for the heroine.

This is a light romantic comedy about two people who couldn't be more different. Holt is kind, caring and always does what is expected of him whether he wanted to or not. Highlander is Coming to Town was just a light fun read. It wasn't terribly Christmas-y. It was actually easy to forget that it was Christmas time as I read. I really liked the friendships between the people in the town and loved Holt and his farm. As a farmer, this was fun for me to read and relate to. While I do wish for a little more depth in the characters, it was just the right low angst read for fall. Thank you for letting me read and review. I rounded this up from 3.5 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed this Christmassy romance! It’s warm-hearted and funny, with wonderful characters. The story is also poignant, as the main character Claire hides her true self, looking for her safe place to land. I love romance novels in which the couple have to break down barriers and allow themselves to be vulnerable and open to love.

Another romantic comedy hit my queue! I already read the first two books in this series, A Highlander Walks Into a Bar and A Highlander in a Pickup, so I knew I was in for a treat with this third book in the Highland, Georgia series. In this addition to the series, Holt Pierson is pretty much a Scrooge. Not happy about the holiday in the least, as well as taking on sudden responsibilities is not his idea of fun.

Meanwhile, Claire Smythe is taking a break from her singing career to hide ou

While the world is dealing with Covid19, this book was a nice escape for me. It has a great plot that does not have the normal conflict between the main male and female characters (Holt and Claire). The issue between them is that a major life decision needs to be made that will either keep them close in location or bring them apart.

I enjoyed the interaction of Holt and Claire. Both of them are really good people and I cared about them. I adore stories with a character of the older population and

I have enjoyed the previous stories in this Highland, Georgia series, and I was really looking forward to this Christmas time jaunt back to the town and it's citizens.

Whilst I liked it, I wasn't as enamoured with it as I was the first two books.

And I think for the most part, the problem for me was Claire. I liked her for the most part, but I did get sick of her "poor little rich girl" attitude for so much of the story. I got it, I know why she hid

A HIGHLANDER IS COMING TO TOWN is author Laura Trentham's third novel in the Highland, Georgia series. I read and reviewed the first one, but somehow missed book #2. This third story reads quite well as a standalone. A couple characters from the first book play a minor role.
The true highlander in this book is the heroine, Claire. She has left Scotland and her wealthy family's whisky empire behind to find what out she really wants. On her twenty-fifth birthday, she will come into her inheritance
I know. I know. I shouldn't want to read Christmas books in the summer, but the way 2020 has been, I thought it would cheer me up and put a smile on my face. Come on, Highlander! Give me some happiness to this bleak year.

When I saw the cover of this book , I THOUGHT I would be getting more of a Christmas themed book, but it really only focused on that holiday toward the end, so I was kind of disappointed. But the story was sweet and cute and not too drama filled. Kind of like a sexier Hallmark m

A Highlander is Coming to Town is another enjoyable story in Laura Trentham's Highland, Georgia romantic comedy series. I've been looking forward to learning more about Holt and am delighted that he turned out to be as endearing, kind, steadfast, and genuinely nice as I had hoped he would be. Claire, on the other hand, is new to Highland. She's prickly, secretive, and a fish out of water. Highland may pride itself on its Scottish roots but northern Georgia is a far cry from Claire's home in Scot ...more

A Highlander is Coming to Town by Laura Trentham
A Highland Georgia Novel #3

Heartwarming holiday stories at this time of year might be a dime a dozen but some are that little bit extra and this is one of them. This story has all that a small-town romance should include with friendships old and new, romance for more than one, relationships to create and some to fix, and troubles to overcome before a HEA can occur.

What I liked:

A light-hearted Christmas read

Having not read a book by this author before, I was pleasantly surprised with this story. Even though this is book 3 in her Highland, Georgia Series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. It is a light-hearted, contemporary romance that I found easy to read. It had a good, strong storyline and characters that endeared themselves to you.

I'm sad to see this series come to an end. I've loved visiting Highland, Georgia and getting to know some Scots in the South.
A Highlander is Coming to Town is (finally) Holt Pierson's story. We met Holt in Trentham's previous two Highlander stories. Holt has made his peace with staying in Highland to run the family farm. Often with a favorite author, I won't read the blurb of an upcoming book before I read it. More so when it's part of a series. I know what I'm in for with already visiting the town. So I just usually start reading. It's never been a problem until this book. I was so lost in the beginning. I felt like I was missing something and it caused me to have a slight issue getting into it.

I loved...LOVED...the first two books in this series. They both got a 5 star review from me. This book fell decidedly flat. There is the same great small town and the same great side characters. What was lacking for me was the two leads and their story.

The female lead, Claire, comes off as spoiled and mildly bitchy. She snaps at everyone around her for no reason. Yes, she softens as the book progresses, but not enough to really endear herself to the reader. The male lead, Holt, is similarly a bi
